The Chuck E. Cheese's movie is by the anime company FUNimation, conditionally, Duncan Brannan has worked on anime, this is first non-anime made. The original release was at Chuck E. Cheese's and Target on October 5, 1999.

It's only used because it was meant as a visual pun for the situation. Kids won't know what the story is about necessarily but may know the title. Or if they don't even know the title they will add it up to being a part of a joke. :)
