I typically dig a hole in it to also remove the thick middle vein part of the dragon fruit root stock, which goes rather deep into the sion. Glad to see it working for you like this as well.

Very nice. But the plant has very little chlorophyll. I think it would've been happier with a root stock.

Yes, you are right:) but for this video is just for demonstration.. i would still prefer for it to be grafted 😅

You're showing others that it's okay to do this to the moon Cactus, they have to be grafted to a rootstock or they can't survive. Demonstration or not, it's the wrong way, so I would correct yourself.
@CelticGhillie

@@greeneyes.1978that’s an incorrect statement on your part. This specimen has plenty of green for it to produce its own food and maintain a healthy life without the graft. Normal moon cactus at the big box stores have been bred to suppress all chlorophyll production and those will certainly die without a root stock.

That's an amazingly helpful video, thank you! But what do I do with the cactus that the top one was grafted on? Mine has already calloused but it isn't getting any new growth at the top, instead it started growing from the side
@profhobo8681
11 ай бұрын
Cut the calloused top and use it to graft other cacti. The original cactus can't grow taller since most cactus only grow from the very top of the stem only. At best, it'll branch or produce pups

Hi I loved the video but I have a question. If this type of cacti need a host as they cannot photosynthesize how will it live on its own or did you leave some of the old cactus in there?
@SilvermoonGarden
Жыл бұрын
If the cacti doesn’t have chlorophyll..(green pigment that plants use to make food) it cannot live on it’s own and die therefore it needs to be grafted forever grafted Cactus must have at least 45% chlorophyll to be degrafted and live without a host 😊
@perfum999

@@SilvermoonGarden oh that is awesome! 😍 Thank you for answering that fast! ❤️ I have two glorys with a lot of Beautiful pups and I would love to root them successfully. And in the past even with Clonex on Akadama it didn‘t work. Glorys are harder to root than others in my experience. Maybe they have to be much bigger. I wait untill they have 3cm as well the Next time 😊 Greetings
