**************Extra video blurbs*************
Once you begin chaining around, (Row 9 and onward) I ended up with 93 stitches (after the slip stitch)
Every even row after row 10, check to make sure that you have 31 clusters (sc,hdc,dc). This is a good way to make sure that you’re on track 👍🏻
Just a heads up....you’ll actually need more than 49 rows. Watch part 2 (coming soon)

I am so excited to embark on this journey with you guys! I am literally making each piece, filming, editing, and uploading as I go, so I will try to crochet and upload this tutorial as quickly as possible for all the speedy crocheters out there. And since I may realize things I should have mentioned in the video after the fact....please see the “extra video blurbs” section above for helpful notes.
Ever since I was young, I have enjoyed creating my own projects sans pattern, but I never wrote them down and usually fudged them as I went along. This is the first one I'm trying to share with the world, so I'm sure there will be mistakes. And we'll learn together:)
I am not a serious person and crochet with a similar mindset. Sometimes the pattern might not make "technical sense," but I am just showing you what works best for me. I make my videos with music and stupid emojis and commentary because it makes me happy.
I also have tried to write out the stitches as often as possible, but also have included a key in the top left of the video. This tutorial series is geared towards the avid crocheter that may struggle with interpreting patterns.
Yarn: Caron One Pound skein (medium - 4 worsted weight yarn)
Color: "Sly Blue"
Crochet hook size G
************Pattern: Base (Part 1)*********
Row 1: Chain 41. Single crochet in the 2nd chain from hook. Single crochet in each chain across, turn (40 sc).
Row 2: Ch 1. Single crochet, half double crochet in first stitch (both the sc and hdc will share the same stitch). Skip 2 stitches. (Single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet in third stitch from hook). Repeat the combo in the ( ) until the last stitch. Single crochet, half double crochet in last stitch, turn.
Row 3: Repeat row 1 (minus the beginning 41 chains)
Row 4: Repeat row 2
Row 5: Repeat row 1 (minus the beginning 41 chains)
Row 6: Repeat row 2
Row 7: Repeat row 1 (minus the beginning 41 chains)
Row 8: Repeat row 2
Row 9: Instead of turning your work by flipping. Instead, turn clockwise (to your right) 90 degrees. Single crochet in each stitch around the perimeter of your work, creating a border. (I did not start with a chain, but you could). Slip stitch last stitch to first stitch of that row.
Row 10: Chain 1. Skip first stitch. Repeat the (sc, hdc, dc, skip two stitches) combo. Slip stitch the last stitch to the first stitch of that row (93 Sts)
Row 11: Chain 1. Single crochet in each stitch around. Slip stitch the last stitch to the first stitch of that row (93 Sts)
Rows 12-49. Repeat rows 10 and 11, ending with row 11. Your even rows (like 14, 28, 32) will be the (sc, hdc, dc, skip two stitches) combo. The odd rows (like 15, 23, 47) will be single crocheting around.
Rows 49+: you will likely need more than 49 rows. See part two
