Like for visibility if this was helpful! Edit June 2020: Thanks for all the likes & kind words, ladies and gents. Yes I spent way too much time writing these down, but it was a really interesting police chase with a lot of filler - figured I'd spend an extra hour or so pausing and taking notes, to save the rest of you the boredom.

And you should very much be discouraged. Before you object, consider this: You see, we absolutely have to avoid a culture where ordinary citizens assist the law. And we have to do that today, while we are still talking about issues we all can get behind like stopping a drunk driver etc. However, since March last year we have been leaving the America we love behind. We are instead entering a zone of mask mandates, lockdowns, crazed minorities rioting, leftist blocking roads and now on top of everything we are left with marxists in control of much government from the federal to the local levels. And already they are talking about making eating meat illegal. Or that you must not hurt somebody else's feelings or that can be a felony crime if you "targeted" a protected group. Or that anybody who voted for the president's reelection is a domestic terrorist. Because what is right and just today, may not sit with you as just and right tomorrow. Especially the more everything just turns insane. Do you want a bunch of vigilantes to pursue you because you were caught in a quarantine sector you're not allowed to be in? Because you're seeing someone, but she lives in a part of town you're forbidden to enter and vice versa, she can not come see you? Do you want people to pursue you, because they saw you buy steak from a street dealer? Because they could overhear you listening to now illegal alternative news? Because you are white and the mandatory "donation" sticker for the minority reparations program on your license plate ran out? I think it is best to nip citizen vigilantism in the butt before it comes back to bite every one of us. Because again, you may be a law abiding citizen today, but that doesn't mean you will be able to be a law-abiding citizen tomorrow. Things are a changing.

Say what you like, but guns are the prime problem. Cops HAVE to assume everyone has a gun, and what's worse, are also quite happy to use them. And here we see proof. This civilian (vigilante) allegedly had a gun, the cops have guns, and there is a good possibility that most of those in the gathering crowd have guns. The perp could have a gun. These chases go on for ages, and you will never see a cop pull ahead of a runner, nor will you see them use boxing-in tactics to stop the runner... No... they let the idiot drive like a maniac for ages, quite happy for him to charge through red lights, collide with several cars, endanger pedestrians, damage property - all because he might have a gun. Then... put even more lives at risk by "pitting" the runner, causing both cop car and runner to spin out of control and (as we often see) go crashing into other cars, pedestrians and property. How dumb is this USA? Last time I saw statistics on these things I recall reading that several THOUSAND innocent people in the US die or are badly injured every year because of these chases. In the UK and Europe we have the occasional chase - but it usually ends with the police boxing in the perp in the very early stages. In Europe, guns are uncommon and in the UK, are illegal. The chances of a runner having a gun are almost zero - and even the police do not carry guns. Even so... watching Americans blast away at each other does provide us more civilised folks with substantial morbid entertainment, along with the gratitude that guns are not part of our culture, thereby lowering the risk of harm on a multitude of levels. So while common sense should tell you that guns are fundamentally to blame for all of this, please don't change your gun laws... There would be no death and mayhem to watch unfolding on US streets - and we'd all have to tune in to Disney channel.

To everyone saying the pickup truck driver is a "hero" - there are two sides to every story. Every infraction committed by the corolla driver was also committed by the pickup right behind him, so from the cops' point of view, there are now two unpredictable vehicles on the road instead of one. Cops do not cut people off like the driver of the pickup did because it may cause the suspect to become aggressive either with their driving or a weapon, and if a weapon is involved, having police officers both in front of and behind the suspect's vehicle can result in an accidental crossfire situation.
