At 9:55 pm Friday night a male in his 20's from Goodrich, Texas, was northbound on Walden Road in Montgomery at a high rate of speed and driving a 2001Pontiac Firebird. The driver failed to negotiate the curve at Palm Beach Blvd. He crossed the centerline striking a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on. After striking the Tahoe the Firebird continued north in the ditch line striking a concrete fence. Debris from the fence was scattered in yards and also struck the windows of one home. One yard, littered with concrete pieces was also what looked to be a playground for a small child. The vehicle then went airborne, striking another part of the fence and ejecting the driver. The vehicle then came to rest in the middle of Walden Road. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt was pronounced deceased on the scene. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack responded to the scene for the inquest and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. DPS investigated the crash, with Montgomery County Deputies and Montgomery Police assisting with traffic control. The driver of the Tahoe was uninjured. Walden Road reopened just after 3 am when the investigation was complete.
