It is sad that there are people like you in this world who promote stealing from those who make sound decisions. Those who made sound decision (not building along coastal area) will pay for those thieves who made poor decision (building along coastal area). Essentially, the idiots are forcibly (legislatively) stealing from people to support their fancy homes along the coast. These people are not victims but thieves. Hurricanes are natural . Weather is natural , facts . But by it being natural , government agencies and scientists already found ways and created technology to weaponize the natural when it occurs . Take the company lockheed Martin's direct energy weaponry installed on ships , submarines , planes for an example . Wild fires are natural once they occur but critical thinking have been nearly banished by the common thinker now days. Weaponry that can burn an object on pin point accuracy and objects around it or attached to it wouldn't even feel the affect. Burns catastrophic to thermite. As the time progresses of the visions seen by Daniel in the holy Bible, man's knowledge shall increase even more toward evil thoughts and evil doings. Anyway , stay focused during catastrophic times so not only wood ,plastic, marble , stone , glass can be repaired but the hearts and minds after traumas like these events because it is truly traumatizing

The equally as sad part of this tragedy is the battles these homeowners are going to have with the insurance companies. After Hurricane Ivan devastated Pensacola homeowners experienced unbelievable obstacles to their efforts to get their insurance companies to cover damages. The bone of contention was the term of "flood damage" versus natural water flow. The insurance people insisted that since the surge of water caused a lot of damage it was flooding! Never mind the fact that the extremely high winds forced the water to surge inward. So, maybe you are not in good hands after all. Oh by the way, after it was all over most insurance companies doubled and tripled their rates! Boy, that gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling. Good luck folks!

I live in Key Largo, FL where we get a number of hurricanes.... it is a two story all concrete house / concrete roof. Concrete houses are the only types of houses that should be re-built and 15' above the high tide mark. It isn't fair to people who have "hurricane" houses to pay for all these trailer homes / wood homes at low levels to be rebuilt. Everyone's insurance goes up and it just makes it tough for all.

@@CarriUSA I agree. The fact is a tornado doesnt make a 15' storm surge over a 40+ miles swath. Tornados are unpredictable. Hurricanes, you have week or more to prepare or to get out. From a individuals point of view that is affected by damage. Damage is damage whether it's a tornado or hurricane. However, a hurricanes damage can be minimized by not building 40 ft from the ocean. 75% of the damage being shown is from the storm surge or rivers over cresting. Not from actual wind. Not at all saying wind doesnt cause damage but the severity is mainly due to flooding and storm surge. Personally I'd rather build my home in Kansas and deal with tornado then on the beach where hurricanes are and can be a yearly occurancw

That is what 150 mph winds can do along with fast moving water. Amazing damage. I think many big boat owners may abandon buying big boats again, they tend to be older people too. The bad economy and fuel prices means the boating industry is not going to be what it was if ever for years to come.
