Alrighty people. Storing ammo in the boxes in the ammo case is by far the best method. The boxes will not deteriorate in your lifetime also the ammo boxes will leave minimal moisture with them being watertight and the cardboard will absorb any moisture that does make it in there. In the event of a malfunction or double load the serial numbers from the box can be used in a lawsuit if you were injured. Faulty ammo can also be recalled using the serial number on the box. Leaving for a range day and don’t want to bring an entire 1000 rd box of ammo. Not a problem grab a couple boxes of perfectly sorted ammo. Why the hell would u dump perfectly packaged sorted ammo in a box. You can save money buying loose ammo if that’s your plan.

A 50cal holds around 2,200 rounds of loose 9mm. I like to keep my ammo in their boxes inside cans because I have the room for it. Sometimes when I buy a brand in bulk, I will break it up into 100-200 round zip lock baggies then put it all into cans. because when you stock 10s of thousands of rounds boxes take up way too much room. For instance a 50 cal can hold 1,300 rounds of 45 acp loose but only 700 if it's in boxes.

Better check each round before you load your magazines if you take that can with you often. Could get a over pressured round due to a projectile getting banged around and pushed too far into the cartridge. Although rare it can and does happen.

There is literally nothing wrong with storing ammo this way. Nothing.
@bass-n-truth-inthestix9083
2 жыл бұрын
@@happyfacedleaf7349 that's not true. Especially range ammo that is cheaper with mediocre quality control compared to high end ammo. If you have hundreds/thousands of rounds just loose, all banging around and moving in the ammo can while walking etc. Over time some of the projectiles can be pushed into the brass much deeper than it's supposed to be. Therefore creating over pressured cartridges. Therefore possibly damage your gun or worse it could cause serious injuries. It's a fact. With this said... I'm not saying don't store it like that. I'm saying it's good practice to inspect it before you load it. As I already mentioned above this problem can happen and it definitely has happened. Although fairly rare.
@headpainter1

I think that goes for any round. I bought a box of 45 the other day and was loading the magazines and just pushing the round down and sliding it under the feed lips a bullet unseated and slid backwards in the casing. Brand new box.

Cut the info off one of the boxes and tape it to the side, that way you know what caliber, grain, brand and velocity
