I really wish there was a warning sticker for the screw on top lol. Carb clean turned into a recoil repair in quick hurry.

Reminds me of when I used to rebuild mechanical wristwatches. I gave up because balance springs and mainspring would snarl if I looked at them wrong. Alas... I'm insane Mercruiser repair guy on weekends.

Oh you have to get one of those main spring winder tools, that then presses them into the barrel

Excellent work on a tricky job. I wonder if modern outboards are better designed/easier to work on, or not much difference?

Hey there thank you for all your videos you share with us I really appreciate it and I’m in need of help please with my 2602S evinrude 2 stroke 2 hp…….. now 1 month after using it out on the water it was not missing a single beat absolutely purring it till I’d finished with it and cleaned etc put it in my shed and stored it for a month then just yesterday I got it back out and went to start it but unfortunately it never started I then obviously did the tests etc for spark cleaned the points and adjusted the points to correct measurements and what not but that was all good but still did not want to start so i decided to take carby of and clean it thoroughly also I used a carby kit put it all back together and tried to start it and yes it started but on start it is running super rough coffin and splattering and eventually conking out but if I put it up to fast it runs sweet and yes trying to adjust the low and high speed dials are absolutely doing nothing can you think what to do next should I replace condenser and points for new ones I don’t know please help me?

A hard one to do is the 9.9 and 15hp unless the parts are new , the 6hp late 60’s early 70’s is a pain also but hands down the worst is the Champion Blue Ribbon ( under the powerhead ) with a cable , never again ! Lol

Something weird has happened to my starter,So I accidentally removed the center screw, wich made the spring pop out, So I installed everything in a correct order, but now when I install the starter, it's seems like the center spindle pulley(the one where the big center screw goes into, hits my flywheel, so it doesn't return the cord, unless I untighten the bolts from the hood, I don't know what could be wrong? I do hope u understand what I mean as I'm not a native English speaker 🙄, do u know what might be wrong?I do have the short hood version wich is the evinrude 2hp 2 stroke from 1972 2202m

Can anybody tell me how to get at the pull start rewinding mechanism inside of this 1967 Evinrude Junior? There’s a screw on top and a screw in the back and I don’t know what they do.
