The cabin is a bit fiddly, but you can try your luck with the opening doors. You should probably test a lot to see if they can hang in place

@TMModelkits

I usually do in all cars/bikes. But in this case, the cabin will unlikely be removed so I thought it as not worth it. Oh, and the engine is not the correct one for the truck in question; I guess Italeri took some shortcuts here

@@martingolding4951 You have a wide range of paints available from Enamels to acrylics, lacquers. I cannot suggest anything in particular because there's a lot of different brands and usually you end up using a certain brand more than others because it suits your painting style better

Bought this as a first truck kit, have built cars for years. It just looked so awesome I had to buy it. Studying the instructions, I am wondering what is the best way to paint the cab and deflectors. Is it easier to assemble all sides except the floor/interior and prime, paint, attach decals then clear coat. Or paint all panels with decals then assemble? I am guessing the first option to partially build the cab is best.
@TMModelkits

I painted them all before assembly, mainly because I usually sand and polish after the clear coat, and with an assembled cab, it would prove a really though work

I've just got my first Italeri truck model and I am completely new to building these models. Do you have any tips for me to get started? Also does the engine come painted or do you need to paint it? and how do you paint your models?
@TMModelkits
2 жыл бұрын
The main tip I can give you is to always test fit before cementing when it comes to Italeri kits, take your time when building the cabin, make sure all parts fit together perfectly (it's up to you to paint it after gluing it together or before that) You have to paint all parts, engine included. I use a airbrush for most parts and a brush for small details, but there's also spray cans if you don't feel like to try a airbrush. Hope this helped

@@TMModelkits this certainly helped I think I'll try the spray can route and brush the smaller details. Thanks for the help!

Thanks seamy. Not a great fan to be honest, they're pretty thick and stubborn. I specially didn't like the side decals that go from the side of the cabin to the deflector; i had to temporary fit the deflectors so I could align and cut the decal properly

Could you tell me what paint you used for the metallic/aluminium parts on the engine please? Also does the finished cab tilt forward? Thank you.
@TMModelkits
3 жыл бұрын
All metallic paints are from AK Interactive Xtreme Metal. Engine block was painted Dark Aluminium and the rest Matt Aluminium; all on top of a semi gloss black base. The cab doesn't tilt forward for 2 reasons: the first one is that hinges are completely off alignment so If I tried to attach the pins in those hinges the cab would be sitting very high; and the second one is that if I need to handle the truck, I'll just remove the cab , otherwise I'd probably end with lots of parts in my hands ( mudflaps, bumper, spare tire, etc)
@martinholmes100
3 жыл бұрын
@@TMModelkits Thanks for sharing that information. I'd heard from another modeller that there was a problem with the cab alignment, but I wasn't sure if it was a mistake with his build. Now i won't get so stressed when mine doesn't fit!
@TMModelkits

@@martinholmes100 There is in fact some kind of problem, probably due to Italeri sharing some components with different trucks, like the engine and chassis components

Hi Martin, on the full size Scania’s, we need to open the grill over the radiator (it’s hinged at the top) before we tilt the cab over other wise it jams against the top of the bumper. Mine also had DG placards attached to the bumper valance that had to be removed as well (found that out the hard way ha ha).
