I had most of these. I think you can sporadically find lots of these in dollar stores. Somehow some Chinese distributors gets their hands on the molds and they produce them from time to time and they find their way on the shelves, but every year the molds get worse and worse. The last ones you show are very strange to me. They look like the same molds as the ones we are so familiar with, however, in the 80s even those molds looked better. Maybe it is the plastic that yours are made of, but they look much more solid and less smooth than the premium ones I remember getting as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s. They used to have a very shiny, but very detailed, high quality appearance.

My favorite WW2 timmy soldier is the one with the gas mask. And the medical team with the dog and nurse.

An interesting set of figures! The G.I. in overcoat firing his pistol is definitely Matchbox or a Matchbox copy. As for the French sailors, I think they are downsized copies of Starlux figures from France. I came across these same figures years ago in a bagged set which included a landing craft (Marx copy) and a raft. Everything was in that same metallic-blue color and I think it was called "Navy Action Playset" or some such. I found them in a dollar store. And you're right; the quality of toy soldiers years ago was better than today. Too many manufacturers today insist on using hard plastic which really isn't suitable for toys. Toys should always be done in SOFT "unbreakable" plastic in my opinion. Incidentally I prefer these videos where you speak instead of playing music. You have a nice relaxing voice!

You can find the gray Vietnam war commando in Walmart along with other toy soldiers related to Vietnam war. Edit: the company that sold the army men seems to gone bankrupt or something, the company that sold the soldiers in walmart is imperial toys, along with greenbrier, the ones that sold army men in dollar store has also disappeared or something, both company’s own each other in a way, and the 2 soldiers at the start you reviewed are new-ray toy soldiers.

there are a couple of early molds that were damaged, a soldiers walking with rifle slung (right shoulder) could not be repaired and are rare as can be. The other rare one is the hand grenade thrower who has no grenade, the original mold was damaged and the hand replaced by empty. Finding a grenade thrower who has a grenade is difficult but the do show up on eBay.

andresplayz is correct. Imperial Toys of California (now out of business) imported those from China, combined them with some poorly done Timmee (Vietnam era) reproductions put a couple of Timmee M-48 tanks in a package (55 pieces) and sold them like crazy all over the US. They are still available on eBay for about $12. They are also available in many different colors. Typically the green, light green, tan soldiers are much better made. The dark (almost black) olive drab ones are not so great (but they are cheap). I have about 800 of these guys.
