Man i dont know but to me Blender feels like the single most awesome program on this planet earth. What this program can do at a high professional level is simply beyond words. Your mind and skill is the only limitation.

This series of videos were very helpful to me in learning. Actually they have been the best learning materials in face modeling till today.

This was in my recommended videos, and I gotta say, Spider-Man The New Animated series is by far the most underrated series of all time. And I've consistently said that since it premiered in 2003.

I'm just beginning to learn how to model the human form. I've come across a lot of good information but a lot of it is contradictory and usually not very clear to me. The way you use color to illustrate the face regions along with your explanation of the finer details make this video the single most helpful reference I've found so far. Thank you very much for sharing.

That was a great vid. I loved the that film btw. This is all a little above me, but I can see where it could all fit in.

@Hazmondo Hi, in 3DS Max you can use the same technique by converting your object to an "Editable Poly" - in the editable poly modifier stack you'll find a tab called "subdivision surface" - below that tab click "use nurms subdivision" and be sure to raise the iterations below display to at least 2 for a good result on a lowpoly. :)

Enable the Editing Cage mode by clicking in the gray circle in the modifier panel header (next to the arrows for moving the modifier up and down the stack)

When you model the face, you should make it symmetrical, since it looks the best, halves the modeling time, and makes rigging easier. Later, it can easily be made asymmetrical with texturing and animation.

I'm a 3ds Max user and I'm unfamiliar with Blender's modeling tools; I notice that all of your edges are curved as if you've modelled the head with NURBS or you've used polygons and used a modifier to smooth your mesh but your vertices seem to be on the surface rather than on a cage away from the head, so I'm a bit confused. What modelling technique did you use?

do you create half the head then copy mirror paste. wouldn't it take less time than doing each half separately

does anybody know of any tutorials that show how to build this stuff from start to finish while maintaining this high level of quality? I am new to blender and want a walk through tutorial so that I can learn the commands as well as the structure ...

***** I appreciate the reply ... but I did not say detail ... i said high level of quality ... by that I was refering to the topology in the video ... not the overall finished product ... I am new to blender ... not new to cgi ...

***** I have found quite a few guys on here that do great tutorials ... but I really want to see one solid character tutorial from start to finish. I have no money so I cant go to a formal school. I do understand that doing the human form is quite a bit of work even without adding realism into the effort ... not to mention rendering times. I like a lot of stuff done by ... Blender for Noobs, Blender Cookie, Andrew Price, Tutor4u, Alimayo Arango, Jacob Lewis, Sardi Pax, and numerous others for the ambition and talent ... One of the things that impressed me most about the sintel production by Ponder Studios isn't just that it was done well ... it was done using free software ... something that anybody could do ... with the right knowledge ... So mostly I just want to try to encourage somebody out there with that knowledge to share that knowledge with me ... I will pay it forward many times over ...
