This lesson with Dr Yakoob serves as an introduction to a 3-part intensive overview of Ottoman history recorded as part of the Karima Foundation to Alimiyyah boys' classes. This session specifically covers the key landmark events of the miraculous nearly 600-year reign of the Ottoman sultans including the conquest of Constantinople, the transformation into a Caliphate, and the Europeanisation that happened just before its final collapse. Ustad Yakoob also highlights the importance of history for Muslims, especially Ottoman history and the need to link ourselves to our past.
Note: this lesson was conducted for Muslim teenagers and hence the discourse will reflect that, though there is still clear benefit for any viewer.
