I have had this bike for 3 years now, and have also owned a C2 Rower since 2008. I am a mountain biker, who races casually and I coach the local high school mountain bike team. This bike is great compared to other indoor bikes and trainers I have used. For my workouts and uses it is great and worth every penny. I power lift during the winter and also use this bike during that time. It doesn't get used too often from Springtime until late fall as I am riding outside at that point. (the snow is gone) It is VERY easy to move around my home basement gym, and doesn't take as much mind power or concentration as their rower. The ONLY negative thing I can say about this bike is the Q-factor. That is the space between the bottom bracket. It fees more like a narrow road bike NOT like a wider mountain bike, which is my discipline. But it really isn't a big deal. I can produce far more watts, and burn more calories on the bike vs. the rower. The rower is probably an OVERALL better workout, but the bike keeps my legs fresh in the winter.

I’ve owned my bikerg for 3 years now, and I like it more now than when I bought it. It’s very well made and solid. Other than get my fit dialed initially, I’ve not not touched it. Essentially maintenance free. Using the damper takes some time, but after a while, it’s simple. It’s got a rpm/resistance relationship you simply have to feel and internalize. No biggie, but it takes some time. It’s different from a road bike. I use the bikerg on Zwift and find it works well. Initially I thought I’d want the resistance change and the need to shift gears to simulate ‘real world’ riding, but, come to find, I don’t. I’d now never want to use an actual bicycle and a smart trainer for this sort of workout. The biggest plus about the bikerg is how simple and easy it is to use. Just hop on and pedal. I even stopped clipping in and use flat pedals both outside and in. No going back. Flats rule. There are negatives, tho. I have modest hearing loss and I’m extremely sensitive to droning noises. The bikerg does make noise, and it’s occasionally annoying for me. But never so bad I have to stop. Most rides I don’t notice it. Also, the damper is a fan and sometimes, during cold months, it produces a bit of a cold breeze (I keep I in an up heated basement). I also have a C2 rower. Unfortunately I developed tennis elbow type tendinitis from it and had to stop using it. I’ve recently ordered a parallel grip handle for it in hopes it will not load those tendons so heavily.

It saves me paying for a subscription with the very basic feature of connecting your PM5 to your wifi and competing with other people online, either on a course or a rank list.

That’s what I like about it. Can’t give the power to trainers. Not when I am going to workout anyway with or without their classes.

Why is it that every serious athlete recommends/uses a bike that doesn’t require the help of a trainer and the hustle of keeping a monthly subscription … like Peloton or iFIT?

Because those features are not needed. It's all bells and whistles. You can literally learn anything you need to about cycling by watching free videos online. Most serious athletes know this.

I personally think the bike erg is the best option Vs any other traditional spin bikes. Great quality, great monitor, durable, lots of adjustability.

It has power meter for zwift and vo2max readings on supported watches

I disagree about the bike erg not being optimal for high intensity training. Open the damper to 10 and do max effort sprints--try to hit 90 rpm and see how long you last--trust me, it will not be long.

I’m tempted to get a Nordic Track S27 bike or a Peloton bike because of their mainstream success. They got so many people convinced that this is the way to go, that we don’t even question it anymore, and we just want to go with it. After trying Peloton app, I got to like some of the coaches, but after some time, I don’t really feel the same about them. Same with iFIT. I like the outdoor workouts, but I don’t really know much about their classes. Now the rational part of me, or what’s left of it, thinks, do I really need that? I want to workout for myself. I don’t need to pay for a subscription in order to continue my daily workouts. I don’t workout to post my stats to the world and to get motivated to do another one because the guy next door is working out on the same bike I do. But, all that aside. If both bikes would be subscription free, or if both bikes would have the same coaches through a subscription based program, what would I choose? Rogue Echo or something like Peloton? I kind of like the comfort of going for 30 minutes on the bike , doing different intervals. But I also like the more efficient type of working out where you don’t waste a lot of time on the bike. Another thing, I got a bit sick of Peloton format. All coaches have the same extra positive attitude. It makes you think, can they pour any more sugar over this? It just makes it fake. What’s your thought?

I personally think that the Rogue Echo bike or Concept 2 Biker Erg are just built better and are better quality. They don’t have the ability to connect like Peloton but the Bike Erg or Echo bike are both super versatile and can be used in so many ways.

@@jordanschaefferfitness I think I would enjoy that a lot. The only thing that makes me still think about whether I should get it or not is that I already have a rower and that’s where I do my high intensity workouts. Would be nice to have a bike that is a bit more oriented to entertainment, music and maybe some games. The drawback of that is the high price of subscription. So I’m still thinking about getting a Rogue Echo bike.

@@jordanschaefferfitness Which is louder, Rogue or Concept 2 bike? I would go with the least loud bike. Also another big thing, which one shows more important data on their screen? I’m thinking , Concept 2, right?

@@jordanschaefferfitness That’s what I like about it. Now I need to find out if there are other bikes that give you more data.
