That is a massive amount of your life and future income freed up to enjoy life. There are middle grounds in these decisions, it isn't all extremes. Money is a tool, not a solution. The simple truth is that people want to work, they just don't want a job. If you have 300k, that is freedom to chase your dream. If you don't find some purpose, you will get bored very quickly.

Love the spontaneous interruption for the Lacrimosa; that is just class! When I watched the video the first time, I did the same thing. Mozart wrote the first few bars of the vocals and sketches for the instruments, but it was Franz Süssmayr who completed the orchestration (and the requiem, for that matter, Mozart had only completed the Introitus but had written some of the vocals for the movements up to and including the Domine Jesu). I suppose you know all that. The requiem was one of the first pieces I learned in my youth and was a catalyst for my becoming a musicologist/historian (among other things). I really like your explosive commentary, sometimes it is just really random. Thanks for the video.

I feel like most people don’t understand that there can be various positions. Being a parent and looking to spend time with a child is very motivating. If you were unemployed or making minimum wage, of course you would try to survive as long as possible. If you were upper middle class making 150k+ per year and can afford everything you want, what is the point of making more money if you can figure it out by working normally? If you like your job and it has good hours, it’s perfectly fine in your life. Also it’s hard camping out in wilderness. So if there is a strong pull back to society, certainly people in that position would want to return.

Not to mention that 350k is legitimately a life changing amount of money. That is a house fully paid for and a college fund for the children pre funded (assuming it is invested). Alternatively, it is a fully pre funded early retirement as 350k will easily be 2.5 million in 20 years based on average market returns. Yes, you still need to work. But imagine having a fully paid off house or retirement. Imagine how much further every paycheck would go.

@@MuAlexJS A house 1 million? Where are you living? That is only true in places like LA. The median house price in America is still like 300k. Also college is not 200k. Go to an in state school and take some courses at community college.

@@mattbenz99 Australia. Syndey which is one of the largest places in Australia has a 1.6m dollar average house price (equal to 1m usd). And yeah I guess college is true Depending on what courses and how long youre staying, if youre getting a dorm etc.

When I was 3 I literally forgot who my dad was, he came home from work one day and I was just like, who is this wacky giant? There was no bond worry for real, 2 year old can miss a year.

18:11 Ludwig is kinda jaded, he is living his dream. Not all of us are getting that. Much rather spend a couple years in the Forrest, then have to spend 40 years in an office or retail store

17:44 Exactly. That's why it would be stupid af to end early. Now he has to spend 25+hrs aweek working, instead of time he could spend with his family. Imagine how fking sick it would be if neither ur Dad or Mom had to work and they were financially set, That's a W life he threw away. Now Dad has to work 25+hrs aweek for the rest of his life, cause he couldn't wait 1year 👍 Shit blows my mind nobody can think long term now adays, that 1year away wouldn't mean shit cause all ur gonna remember is the most W Dad in the world, that always had time for you. Not to mention hes gonna regret leaving the challenge early for his entire life, every second at work is gonna be a fking nightmare, knowing u could have stayed for a single day longer and skipped 160+hrs of work

Would you rather spend a year with your family working which takes about 260 to 262 days out of the year or spend full years with your family not working, you spend 71% of a year working

I mean, I get the "money isn't worth not living your life" take, and it is unfortunate that the guy has a newborn and a two year old, but damn. 10k (5k I guess, since you're halving) a day? 1.8 mil in one year? That's at least a lot of financial leeway, if not freedom outright. That's smooth sailing for at least until the kids graduate college imo.

I think there’s some family time benefits to staying longer that isn’t talked about. 10 days in the woods = $100k = 1 years work. So to maximize family time you go 180 days which is 18 years worth of work then you can afford to spend every second with your kids until they’re 18.
