LOVE your reviews! so thoughtful, so well spoken, no bulls**t. Keep em coming! I would love to hear you thoughts on more Luis Buñuel's films, especially El Ángel Exterminador which I consider my favorite film ever.

I stumbled across your review of "Carnival of Souls" after falling into a mad bout of researching the film, but that's a story for another time. For now, all I'll say is that in the few videos of yours I've watched, I believe you've earned this 10K-level attention--and some! Terrific interpersonal communication skills, well spoken, fair and balanced critiques... I hope you keep up the fantastic work. Safe travels!

I just discovered you a couple days ago after looking for KZitem videos on Mandy, which I just watched recently. And I thought your review of it was so intelligent and thought-provoking, I immediately hit the subscribe button. Watched a few of your other reviews (I'm a Kubrick fan, so I latched on to those) and again, fantastic reviews. I thought you chose some great questions for this Q & A. I do have to say that personally I don't really think there's a greatest era of movies. They all have their glories and their dreck. Looks at us now. We live in an age of A24 and franchise overload. I also liked that question about how you interact with people in the regular world vis a vis your cinephile passion. I've always found film to be a common language between people and I don't think geeking out about cinema necessarily turns people off. Anyway, great Q & A. Onward and upward to 20k.

You made me laugh about The Beguiled. The original is a classic. I watched the Sophia Coppola version and found it had its merits. What stood out to me was the point of view. In the original we are the soldier and in the remake we are the ladies. It's not obvious until the end. Love your channel. Thanks for sharing yourself.

Thanks for answering my question, Maggie! Even though you joked that I was "asking the wrong person," you were still able to give a genuinely reflective answer, which is no surprise given how thoughtful and articulate your movie reviews are. Real talk... a couple of your videos over the years (film and non-film related) have lifted me through some tough times, so I just wanted to highlight that you're doing some really good things beyond cinema for a lot of us out here. Thanks again and I wish you continued health and wellness! Now onto that 20k!

So happy to hear your enthusiasm for The Third Man. Virtually everything works beautifully. That long held final shot with the remaining leaves fluttering down off the trees was as brave as the famous mirage scene in Lawrence of Arabia. Most directors would not have trusted their audience to stick with it.

Congrats on 10K. Hopefully you manage to wrap the right words around "Night of the Hunter" someday soon. It really is unlike any other noir, and the performances by Mitchum, Winters and Gish are unlike any they ever gave under more prolific directors. Greta Gerwig is the more recent actor-turned-director that sets the bar. Her work on "Lady Bird" is one of the three things in the 2010s that rekindled my belief that mainstream cinema has hope. In the other direction there's Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton: "The Gold Rush" and "The General" blow all else from the silent era out of the water (even the German Expressionists, there I said it).

Congrats on 100,000 Subscribers! Oops, that's future. Congrats on 10,000 Subscribers! :) Something needs to be written... You are one of the best thing I've experienced on KZitem. I found You by accident - The Holy Mountain was my first and I felt it's special. You have interesting, reach point of view on movies. You're speaking in engaging way. Also you can beautiful draw, sing, photograph - I need to take a little break... About Your video titled "A Message From the Heart"... I don't even know where to start with it, maybe thank You will be enough? I'm going to save this video on several hard drives. Just in case. You are unpretentious and kind of overwhelming person. Probably nothing new to You what I'm writing about, I could repeat or paraphrase others opinion so You may have sick of it, but I needed to write this to U. Marry Christmas and all the best in new year! PS: I would like to experience Your review of (I'm trying not to be greedy) - Leon (1994) - 12 Angry Men (1957) - Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) - The Wages of Fear (1953) - Angel Heart (1987) - Stalker (1979) - The Thing (1982) - The Omen (1976) - Hellraiser (1987) - North by Northwest (1959) - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) - Once Upon A Time In The West (1968) - Drive (2011) - The Handmaiden (2016) - Scarface (1983) - The Hitcher (1986) - Trainspotting (1996) - The Last of the Mohicans (1992) and TV Series: - The Twilight Zone (1959-1964) - Twin Peaks (1990-1991) - Six Feet Under (2001-2005)

Hi Maggie - Keep going. You're never going to have the following of Chris Stuckman. Because you have a much more eclectic audience. That can be a good thing. As far as La La Land, I never cared for it. But, I loved Hail Caesar. I felt it was entertaining and a true homage to 50's Hollywood, even though a lot of people disagree with me. I'm curious what you think. Also, I agree with you about Roeper, but I thought Ebert's bringing movie criticism closer to the masses was a great service both to films and film goers. I had to edit to add Night of the Hunter. Almost a horror film. Lillian Gish having a major role in a film 40 years after Birth of a Nation is pretty amazing. Sorry for being long winded. Best wishes, Ted.
