Having a circle of friends and cordial acquaintances that span the globe, even in places you couldn’t or wouldn’t go, is edifying ,informative and inspiring. It’s also hopeful. After finding so many delightful folk spread throughout the world ,I’m confident that after the corrupt destroy themselves and the “empire”, there will be enough sane , competent people left to try again. (personally, I think the “little people” are sick of mopping up the messes)

Yes, I like your reasons. I like your labeling of a "variety" channel! That's what I'm gonna start calling mine, because I too do a little bit of everything. It's a great way to make videos of my experiences in life, and then those memories will live on forever on KZitem! Also, I had not thought of the "legacy" part of it. Something for my children to inherit and/or to continue with! I love that. Thank you and best wishes! Oh and I love your laugh! 😊❤

Watched Robb's video about you and the fire in your home. He is a good guy and cares about his viewers. I have been thinking about making some videos of my own. My computer is junk and so slow it will not edit video. Once I get a new computer, I want to make a few. Not for the money but as a way for my grandson to know who I was. I thought it would be so neat to see what my grandparents were like when they were younger.

Hey chilly if you have an old computer you might try downloading the old Windows Live movie maker editing program or see if it is already on your computer I found that it would edit video files more easily then other editing programs because it's a very small editing program that does not do a lot like the other ones do but it's very basic and I made the majority of my videos with it and only switched to cap cut a year and a half ago.

I’m in the process of reviving my dormant KZitem channel. I’ll be honest I’m doing it to supplement my SSDI income. With inflation we’re upside down every month. I have so many interests it’s hard to find that niche. I’ll be subscribing and checking out your content. I’ve learned how to fix many things from KZitem university. Last item was our washing machine. Cost me $8 instead of at least $80 if not more. I think another good reason is to leave your children and grandchildren great memories of you. I would love to have my parents on video. They’ve been gone 22 years for my Dad and 34 for my mom. To see and hear them would be priceless. I look forward to your future and older content. Dave in PA.

Hey Dave thanks a lot for watching the video and taking the time to leave such a nice comment period I agree with you 100%. I would love to have videos of my dad and mom or grandparents her uncles making and doing stuff from decades ago. What a treasure that would be. If you decide to start another channel you might want to focus on an itch because variety channels are difficult for KZitem to understand who to send the videos to I'm amazed I make any money at all with my variety channel. Also different topics get different advertisers which gives you different compensation.

OK, you've convinced me. Can you please do a video on how to do your first KZitem video? I'm not kidding. I have a smart phone and a laptop. I have never shot, posted or edited a video in my life. Do you think anyone would be interested in a video about restoring/repairing a music box?
@RobbsHomemadeLife
4 ай бұрын
Hey Dean I did a quick search and there are quite a few music box repair videos on KZitem that have a large amount of views. I will do a video this week or next week on how to do your first video. If you already have a smartphone a lot of people edit on their smartphone and don't even use a computer however I've always used the computer. You will need a tripod but you can get a small one to use with a phone for 15 bucks and you can also get a reasonable wireless microphone to use with your smartphone for 15 or 20 bucks and the free editing program I recommend is capcut. For years I used the very basic Windows Live movie maker editing program what about a year and a half ago I switched to cap cut and it's been wonderful it's very intuitive and there are a lot of videos to show people how to get the most out of the program or solve any problem. I just use it in a very basic fundamental way as I'm a lazy editor. One of my favorite youtubers is a lady who has a popular arts and craft channel and for years she made all of her videos with a camcorder that has the pause function and she would just stop her video or pause it and then set up the item she was filming and then start the filming again and pause it and so on and eventually she'd be finished and would not have to edit anything and all of the files would be together in one file so she could just upload it it was extremely simple way to make videos. The best videos to make are the ones that you would want to watch. That's important because sometimes in the beginning you're going to be the only one watching it. I'm not kidding either. Before you make your restoration and repair video why don't you start with something very simple like a review of a product or book that you have in your house and just go over the top 10 reasons you like it and the top 10 reasons you don't like it you can write them out on a piece of paper and actually have that in the film that you're recording I have done that in a few videos and it worked out great because it was extremely simple and it kept me focused on what to talk about also the viewers knew what we were talking about just save the things you don't like at the end because people always are more interested in the negative than the positives. I have a playlist of review videos you might get some ideas from , when you start the video be sure to tell the viewer what the video is going to be about and what they're going to be looking at and don't repeat yourself a lot like I do in my videos. If you don't waste the viewers time and give them more information than they expected you're going to get a subscriber. If you do make a video be sure to leave the link in the comments.

I could not agree more. I still get a kick from seeing myself "on the telly" and the opportunity for just being daft is invaluable. I too have learnt a great deal about computers etc., which has been the most surprising aspect of it all. It has also revived hobbies that I had almost abandoned, playing my musical instruments and play-acting. I now have a "dressing up box" of clothes, just like when I was little. it is a unique pastime which, I think, would benefit anybody who had a go. Thanks for this. I am really enjoying getting to know your channel. Love, light and peace, Bob McGowan.

Great video, Robb - agree with all your points except you being the LCD!! I managed to lock myself off YT & my channel trying to access it on my phone (spilled a whole mug of coffee on my then new laptop on my birthday 3 years ago - took the repair shop a month to resurrect!) my password rejected & myself dejected! My poor laptop is now held together with glue and duct tape, one side broken (unhinged, like its owner) after Lucy got the cord caught on her harness, panicked, and dragged it outside into the rain - it "works" but shuts down without warning & makes ominous crackling and groaning noises! :)

For some reason I never started using laptops and still use the desktop computer quite a bit I don't know how people manage to do all their video editing on their phones. My legs were starting to hurt from sitting in the chair for so many years in front of the computer so I got a wedge pillow and a hospital bed and put my monitor and keyboard on the table so I can lie down and do my videos and it has made all the difference.
