Good information as usual. I appreciate that you hit the pros and cons on the holsters. As body build is a big issue in getting the right fit. While I agree with you about the length of the holster helping stabilization. Body build comes into play for me, the longer holster digs in when I sit At a desk or while driving. I do go for the higher ride set up but still they dig in. Have two boxes of holsters that just didn’t make it for me. Thanks for you sharing the info with us.

Big fan of the Phlster Floodlight here. I carry a VP9 daily in mine, upgraded with DCC clips and a small flat foam pad from V Dev Group to provide just a little cushioning for some of the angular parts near the muzzle. I carry a spare mag in a JM Custom AIWB High-Ride Single Pistol Mag Pouch, also with a DCC clip. Fantastic combination, and having separate holster and mag carrier lets me maintain about 6" of space between the two, so I don't run into any issues like you experienced with the mag interfering with bending over or causing issues with cover garment clearance. JMC also has some great AIWB holsters (just not for the VP9+X300 yet) and I believe they will be adding support for the Staccato soon, as another commenter indicated.

I had a similar problem with the muzzle length on the Floodlight. What I did was remove the shock cord, and cut the muzzle back on a diagonal, leaving the full length of the x300u part of the holster. In process, I cut off the lowermost hole where the shock chord was strung. Then I just restrung the cord using only three holes, and adjusted the length of the shock cord as needed - VOILA! no more muzzle interference. The finished product still full covers a glock 19 or Staccato P slide/muzzle, with no other degradation in function of the holster. Was a game changer for me.

How have I not known about your channel, till now? The point on shorter holsters tilting out is well taken. I had that problem with a 3.5" 1911, and my gut is a complicating factor. The problem was resolved by moving the holster to the right. The only problem I've had with AIWB holsters is that manufacturers are cheap. A slight rearward tilt gives me a faster, more direct line for forming the best grip. But, mfrs all want to make an adjustable cant which doesn't want to stay where I want it.

I understand the merits of appendix carry but the fact that the muzzle is pointed directly at my junk and a main blood vessel is quite disconcerting. With good training, I am sure it’s a viable method of carry. However, one mistake could be quite painful or even lethal.
@108Performance
4 жыл бұрын
Ghostrider71 F-14 One mistake with any holster option could cause injury, carrying a gun is inherently dangerous and one should not allow “I’ll shoot myself at some point” to be part of the use model. If it is, then stop carrying a gun. Every carry method has trade offs. If this one makes you uncomfortable, then look no further and don’t do it.

@@andreandrad3575 they all have these little teeth that lock on to the underside of the belt. It's what helps make them so secure. But to get the clips off you have to push way down then grab the clips and pull them away from the face of the belt then lift the whole rig up and out of your pants. The 1.75 on a 1.5 belt still lock in but give more room to disengage them. Don't have to force them down as hard. People say oh they have to break in or just pull harder. Nah.

Haven't used leather holster since maybe 2004. Leather causes finish wear as well. The PVD finish on the guns is extremely abrasion resistant and I have zero holster wear on them. If you want the gun to remain pristine, don't shoot or holster it.

Do you have issues with your shirts getting holes in them? For me, my Cobra buckled belt as well as metal clips on holsters and corners of the pistol end up causing holes to form as the material moves on those points. I essentially ruin a t-shirt in about 3 wearings. I moved to a regular style buckled leather gun belt instead of my Cobra buckled nylon and kydex clips over the plastic ones but the pistol still wears holes in my t-shirts (both outer and inner shirts). I hate wearing shirts I can’t replace because I know they will get ruined in short order.

@108Performance

I have ruined plenty of shirts in the past. Picking the right gear helps, as you've been doing. Selecting sights that won't eat your clothing and a pistol that has proper contouring for carry also go a long way. Lastly, I am conscious of the pistol so that I don't rest a bag or whatever on it and cause the shirt to grind against it.

Probably going to be hard for a 2019 model like i have now since they never got that mold and sti was too busy selling guns.
