You said nothing about language barriers. Indeed, learning the language of the country one choses ro retire in is essential.

You need just to have the basics of the country's language. When you move to a country you learn the language better by getting in touch with the locals.

How about crime, cartels, kidnappings for ransom, etc.?There are places in the U.S. that are very inexpensive, but they are like that for a reason. Especially with the South and Central American countries, why are people fleeing to the U.S. in such large numbers?

@@TravelTribe-YourUltimateGuide The trick here is that you make your money in the higher paying urban areas and then you retire in the more rural areas of the country where jobs tend to be less available but you don’t care because you have retirement pay coming in. There are plenty of low crime, inexpensive places in the U.S. where people can retire to. I also agree that there are safe places in some of those South and Central American countries mentioned, but overall, they are not as safe. Looking at just per capita homicide rates per 100,000 residents, Columbia has 25.7, Mexico has 23.3, Costa Rica has 17.3, the U.S. has 6.
