Gotta agree with a lot of these, man. Great vid. As a fan of Anthrax, I actually got into them via their more groove metal 1990s albums with John Bush on vocals. The Sound of White Noise and Stomp 442 are utterly pummelling and much different from the Balledonna stuff. Motley Crue’s self-titled album which they recorded with John Corabi instead of Neil is also pretty stellar, with much less vapid songs and a far heavier, dirtier sound and darker tone (because 90s grunge, but still). Like with Bush era Anthrax, it’s basically a different band so shouldn’t be dismissed sight unseen. I’m guessing you’re very aware of these, but just thought I’d mention them.

There are those that I always disliked, for example Summoning, I also don't understand The Offspring, The Exploited, Of Mice And Men. Anathema and Rammstein sowed contradictory feelings in me. The most popular METAL band in Russia called Ария (Aria) they have been around for 40 years and literally every second song of theirs consists of ideas and harmonic scales that they took from Maiden and Judas Priest, people always make fun of this fact.

I loved it when you said you dont like criticizing bands shortly after completely dismantling The Offspring 😂 As for my list, the first two bands that came to my mind were Megadeth and Slayer. Megadeth is probably because I cant stand Mustaine's vocals, I just cant (I have nothing against high-pitched vocals, I love Pavlov's Dog for example). Slayer is probably because I find them incredibly repetitive and boring. I have listened to Reign of Blood repeatedly and still cannot get anything out of it. The next two are probably very contentious for many but still - Alice in Chains and Faith No More, with the major reason being is that I am not into grunge and a similar type of alternative rock (with Nirvana as the sole exception). I will add new names to the list in the comments section to your next video. It is actually interesting to consider how one's attitude to a band/performer changes after one learns about their obnoxious behaviour. I find it quite easy to distinguish an artist from his/her sins and still enjoy the music. Take, for example, Lostprophets and the scandal involving the lead singer. Of course, I disappove of what he did but nevertheless Last Train Home is always on my list. I wonder what you guys think about such instances and how they affect your perception of art
@onewhitepony
3 сағат бұрын
I get it i can do that as well. Does taint the art but I can enjoy it. Like Roman Polanski movies for me. Horrible person but made some cool movies. For me I do like Slayer probably the 80s albums but they did some more groove stuff later that I liked. Megadeth I get that. Musically it's awesome but Dave's voice does have that nasally thing going on. I can listen past it. But I know why people wouldn't like it. In the grunge era Pearl Jam was the one i couldn't get into. Honestly it wasn't until recently I really listen to Alice in Chains (of course past the hit songs we all heard a thousand times) and found it pretty good stuff

1) Early Van Halen was good, but they got so over played that I got sick of them. 2) LOVED "Spreading the Disease" & "Among the Living" but, NOTHING other than those two records did much for me from Anthrax. 3) LOVE Exodus, they are one of my favorite bands. 4) Motley Crue is too glam for me & I HATE glam. 5) Pearl Jam is Okay, I don't change the radio channel but, I wouldn't buy their C.D.s. 6) I LOVE the riff from "The Beautiful People" but, Manson is so degenerate that he disgusts me. He may actually be a Pedophile. 7) I was a KISS FREAK when I was a kid in the 1970's but, "Creatures of the Night" was the last album they cut that was worth a crap & the two records before it were trash as well. Gene & Paul are the living embodiment of EVERY negative stereotype about Jews there ever was. I'm not anti-Jewish but, I would be if every Jew was exactly like Gene & Paul. Ace & Peter are not perfect either but, they are both better than Gene & Paul in spite of their drug & alcohol abuse. I read Ace's book "No regrets" & he said he was glad he never killed any of his friends with all the car wrecks he's had. I guess the drummer from Hanoi Rocks that died as a passenger in Ace's Delorian must not have been his friend.

I enjoyed this video. Just curious with Anthrax, did you have any preference with Bush vs Belladonna material or did neither do anything for you? I found with Manson he had that one drum beat and used it in every song. Once you got over the shock value the excitment ended pretty quickly for me. As for my meh bands... (I am going to get slaughtered for some of them ha): RHCP: I saw them live twice in the 90s and they were rubbish. The singer admitting knowingly sleeping with a child in his autobiography also didn't help me endear to them. Deftones: I just can't get into the voice and the riffs never excited me. Tool: I've never got passed the singles as I always get bored halfway through them. Mastodon: This band I've tried a lot harder with and have a few albums and whilst I don't hate any of it, it's never gripped me the way it has for just about everybody else! RATM: I think I've just heard Killing in the Name too many times and it didn't help when for three years at uni, every rock night the DJ would play this song and when it came to the chorus turn down the volume and shout 'everybody' to which the whole room would respond and sing 'fuck you I won't do what you tell me'. For three years they whole room did exactly what they were told once a week at that very moment! Slayer: I enjoy South of Heaven but that's about it. Reign in Blood just doesn't get me excited (I know at this point I am going to get chased out of town!). I find the other three of the big four just more interesting and varied. All newer metal bands with hardcore style vocals: When will this end? I have lost count of the newer metal bands I enjoy until the vocals kick in and it's the same boring hardcore vocal style. When everything is already heavy I could really do with something different on top and it's so rare I get it. That'll do for now. Feel free to do a part 2. I am sure I can get myself in more trouble with the next one too! :)

I was actually surprised that up until Coldplay I disagreed with you, Coldplay are a bit beige and Manson I always thought was overrated. I think offspring suffer a bit from their worst songs being the most popular. Still not a fan of kiss though but I appreciate their legacy and that so many bands wouldn't be here without them.

Interesting list, dont agree on them all but its still good to hear someone elses opinions, always liked Janes Addiction but Mr Farrel has always been a grade A dick, some times its hard to seperate the artist from the music, saw Rolf Harris at Glastonbury in 93, he was great, that didnt turn out well 😮

I can understand your picks here. Legitimate complaints. I love early Van Halen with DLR (even though DLR runs his mouth too much), but hate the Sammy Hagar albums. Horrible. Anthrax has some cool albums, but that rap garbage they did really turned me off. Also, I thought the John Bush era was great. Excellent voice on that dude. I liked Janes Addiction OK when I was much younger, but couldn't care less about them now. I agree with you on the vocals for Exodus. Difficult to deal with. But, I really like the vocals with Rob Dukes. That era of Exodus was great. Yes, the Offspring is total garbage. Aerosmith was great in the 70's and early 80's, but then started really sucking and going way too commercial for me. Painful to listen to. I will always dig the 1st two Motley Crue albums, especially Shout at the Devil. That was my gateway into hard rock when I was very young. But, after that everything they did was pretty awful. They should have gone away 30 years ago. Pearl Jam has always been very boring. I liked that album 10 back in the early 90's, but never listen to them anymore. Yes, Coldplay sucks ass. I really like the early Manson albums (1st 4 albums) and actually enjoy some of his new stuff too. But, I understand some will always hate him.

I'm a huge fan of EVH I just never was able to dig DLR. Love John Bush's voice but didn't take the songs whereas I like a lot of the music from Beladona era but can't dig the vocals I need to check out more Rob Dukes era to be fair. I like his podcast a lot and he seems a great dude. I think Gary Holt is the man 🤘
