Oh my gosh, thank goodness I found you. I'm writing my dissertation and was going crazy with trying to select a section and it would do everything but highlight it. I am so relieved. Thank you!!

Also beare, not sure if you covered this sorry, but I can't count the times I've been filling out a long form and at the end when I m just self correcting and I've hit ctrl+shift +back arrow to quickly fix some typo or something and and it's reloaded the page or closed it or otherwise forced me to start over. I haven't figured out yet whether I'm clumsily hitting a stray key, or the browser or OS has the shortcut mapped differently but it's great for those who love to start over on a form you were just about finished with. Always type in word et. first then paste it into forms where you've had to write a lot. Now If I could just consistently take my own advice.

Hi the last one is useful when you have text to highlight that is in type in column form but not in table form e.g. lists of things separated by tabs. if you only want to highlight one then you would use your last tip.🤭🤩

I was looking for the number 10( alt + click + drag ) since I only need to copy the middle part of my document, this will save me so much time! Thank you so much!

Alt click drag is only really useful in text separated by tabs. It is particularly useful when editing and formating a CV.

I use it for rgb value there is no god damn software that transform a whole image to {R = , G = , B = }, {R = , G = , B = } to script picture into a script that will then be able to reproduce it

Alt-drag selecting is also useful if you want to change the case of the 1st character in each line. Also, using mono-spaced fonts, there are many instances where text had vertical alignment that may be useful.

Trying to figure out why/ find a solution for the way windows copy grabs text on the cursor when drag selecting. Is there any way to stop this. It's so frustrating. The keyboard shortcuts help but often i need drag to work. Anybody know why windows always just goes reaching out left bound like some kind of fiending text junkie?

Perhaps you could simply change the font colour to match the background?

Very useful, thank you. I frequently use Ctrl+Shift -->(left & right) arrow keys to select entire words; it can also can be used with the down arrow to select the remainder of the line from where the cursor is positioned. The last one you illustrated is totally new to me ; )

Is there a way to select all but the first few pages of a document? I work in legal editing and the first few pages of a transcript are in different sections and then the body of the transcript is in a third section. If someone messes up the formatting I need to be able to select this entire section to fix margins, line spacing, page breaks etc. This is a pain to sit clutching the mouse and scrolling down as fast as possible. If there's a fast way to do this it would be terrific!

You might place your cursor at the paragraph that you want to start to select, then use SHIFT + page down or arrow down until you want to end the selection. I wish it would be possible to select all (Ctrl + a) then deselect those a few paragraphs that you don't want to select. But I haven't figure out delectting just a few paragraphs.

I just found one use for the last trick: I had to delete a group of words that were lined up vertically, so instead of deleting them one by one, I used this trick to do it with one click. Example: Delete "Q:" Q: pojmln Q: gtrrbf Q: adasdaf Q: ...
