The booking one is just stupid to get offended by on behalf of children. What's the possible downside, your kids use "booking" as a word to describe something negative? If they realize that it's a replacement for "fuck" then they already know what "fuck" is so it's not introducing them to anything new.

me too. Actually, a lot of them were not so bad. People need to stop feeling offended by everything. It's like a popular hobby these days, getting offended. The "got it booking right" for instance, God. I'm glad none of those people ever watched Adventure Time. The number of reasons they did just that is pretty large, and it actually started a culture of avoid actual swearing and using AT interjections as surrogates for curse words.

Making fun of thousands of people dying on the titanic is wrong. Racist laundry detergent commercials are wrong. Having 2 men kiss and then try to prove how "manly" they are bc they just can't be gay is wrong. A car commercial should not be talking about suicide that way, probably not all TBH. I never understood Ashley Madison. Sure, any and every "dating" website allows for "casual encounters" to occur through their systems. Some even encourage it. (I've long since decided such websites were akin to digital pimps (think about it).) But every other site tackles such usage with a wink and a nod. Ashley Madison just blatantly asks "Hey, you wanna boink a stranger? We'll help!" That ad even uses a bastardization of a popular song to outright say as much with no euphemisms or doublespeak (or tact, or propriety, or artfulness...). Never mind the moral implications of industrial promiscuity. (I'm no prude. I think we could all use a lot more banging in our lives. Get the old heart rate up, improve self esteem, etc.) But there are places in the United States and other countries where adultery is straight up illegal. How does THAT work as a business plan? Oh, and as for the commercial targeting males? That song kinda doesn't work if you gender swap the lyrics. Perhaps there was supposed to be a follow-up companion piece with a different, female-centric song? After all, it makes more sense to court the female part of the equation into the Ashley Madison system. It's why Ladies' Nights exist. Unless they already have a "stable" of available women for their johns to "date". Or perhaps "someone other than my wife" is actually in reference to other men.

EVERYTHING is somehow "racist" now a days. I mean, the commercial was endorsed by a black man, and stared the same black man in 2 of the 3 lead roles ( As the goat, himself, and the 3rd role being the waitress). How is it racist against black people if it was a black man who stars in and promotes the content?? Obviously he meant for the commercial to be geared toward young black people and that may be why he used black people in the commercial the way he did figuring his target market, young black people, would find it funny. Thats just my guess as to why the commercial was done this way.

Marina Bonadio I really want to clarify why I wrote that I found the ad funny: because it follows the guidelines of how you should make a dark joke. There is a premise that reminds the viewer of something dark/taboo (the man wants to commit suicide) but then there's a twist (we think he's dead but just fell asleep). I am of the ideology that anything can be joked about if the joke is clever and non-gratuitous. This was, in my opinion, one of these cases. That said, I totally understand why some people could be offended by the ad and I respect their right to be.

@kylec.4512
7 жыл бұрын
*insert unpopular opinion meme here* I find that racism, or any other type of discrimination is extremely difficult, or even impossible to imply in most situations. That detergent one is an example of where I'm wrong. But the snickers commercial? It's not saying that gays are unmasculine. It's saying those 2 straight guys aren't gay and want to show the other they aren't gay, it's simple booking logic and I don't understand why people overlook this. A society where others still have a sense of right and wrong but cannot get offended would undoubtedly end in a utopian society. Wow this comment is all over the place but you get the idea.

*clears throat* I THINK ITS FUNNY HOW PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT OTHERS BEING SENSITIVE, YET THEY ARE ANGRY THAT SOMEONE IS OFFENDED THUS MAKING THEM SENSITIVE That is all

Lakin Karrow A lot actually. Don't make light about suicide in a car commercial. Chinese people were clearly being racist in their commercial. Red Bull made a joke about thousands of people losing their life. Some, I will say, aren't worth complaining over. However, there were ones that clearly were.

Chelsey Dunn agreed! They think people should just be numb to any injustices, but when people have the gull to speak out against these injustices they think people should just sit back and take it. I don't understand the logic they have, you almost can't win with them either since everything you do is wrong and everything they do is right!

People lost their lives in any war America has been in, yet, we are not insensitive about that. So, in events when people die, it doesn't matter when. You shouldn't be making jokes about thousands of people dying.

Marina Bonadio it wasn't necessarily homophobic. It showed two men kiss, then begin to question their sexuality by acting out in a "manly" way. It didn't really mock anyone, all it did was show two men kiss, then freak out about it. I found it pretty funny if we're being honest
@misumi9444

Marina Bonadio basically they were trying to prove their manliness as straight men after kissing.

I've always had a particularly dark humor, and you all can berate me all you want, I'm mature enough to understand why and you have the right to. But the Titanic one made me chuckle slightly the first time I saw it. Still thought it was bad though.

How come a red bull uk ad gets banned but a Doe ‘road safety’ ad with children being crushed just gets moved to the watershed. I was terrified of being in a car for ages and still am due to doe road safety (it’s not as bad now but my mother used to have a car with a really visible speedometer in the car, she doesn’t have it anymore as it’s engine died or something, I’m not into engineering)
