One point about The Shining: I don't think it's mentioned in the film, but in the book it's revealed that Tony is actually Danny as a young man using his powers to watch over and warn his younger self. So the reason that he knows what is going to happen at the Overlook is simply that those events are in his own past.

No. No. No! The T-Rex escaped the metal frame that they used to contain it on the island (you see it in the foreground as they search the ship). It was the final act of a crew member that trapped it in the cargo hold. The Rex and the raptors took out the crew together.
@smellygoat

okay so where are the raptors and why is everyone dead if they were so successful at trapping the t-rex?
@Monkey_Boy9602

@@smellygoat Why would they take the Rex out of the cage, just to let roam free in the cargo hold? The crew member obviously died closing the doors to the cargo bay in order to trap it. The raptors probably jumped overboard and swam back to the island. I dunno. I just know that the T-Rex was indeed a part of the carnage on the ship. A crew member tells Malcolm that it got too much sedative from the darts and to counter it they accidentally turned it into a "locomotive" as Sarah said. It then broke free from it's binds and started rampaging along with the raptors.
@smellygoat

@@Monkey_Boy9602 most of that is assumption. we're also supposed to assume raptors can swim and if they can the boat was close enough to land for them to swim to, also due to no mention of sighting of raptors off the JP islands that would also mean everyone died at the start of the journey. so how did the ship get to it's destination?
@Monkey_Boy9602
2 сағат бұрын
@smellygoat I typed, "I dunno"! Assuming an animal can swim isn't that big of a stretch of the imagination. What happened to the raptors isn't important. My point was that the T-Rex took part in the man-eating carnage and was trapped in the hold as the last act of a dying man. As for the ship, it was on course for the dock. We have no idea when exactly everything went to Hell, but it could've happened from mere minutes to a few hours before chaos ensued.

In hindsight Rose being just another victim takes away from the most important point of Get Out, the subtle racism of suburban America. Her being just as bad as the rest of the family showed that you always have to keep an eye out. For fuck's sake the opening song was called "Stay Woke" with lyrics including "they gone find you, gone catch you sleeping" Also, everyone who watched Get Out expected Rose to also be a victim because she's the pretty female lead, by making her just as bad as the rest of the family we got a major subversion of expectations.

I only recently saw Jacob's Ladder. The sad part is that the ending was ruined for me by seeing his son played by Mackauley Kulkin. It's too bad I didn't get to appreciate it back when he was a no name child actor. Recognizing him pulled me right out into "watching a Hollywood movie ending" territory, rather than staying in the story
