I love this video. I hope you are still making more videos. I can’t wait to go pick up action figures too use for fabric weights. I bought one if the thread holders for the big spools if thread. It keeps falling down and losing the thread. Someone suggested a coffee mug. That works better than what I bought. Thanks for this video. I learned a lo. I will be Watching your videos. Janice

Omigosh! You are a hoot! Love your enthusiasm! Great ideas My new sewing machine didn't come with a cover either, so I used an extra pillowcase. I do use my purchased bodkin every now and then, it is an indispensable tool, creative hack for making one. I sometimes need to use it to retrieve the lost end of the drawstring.....which sometimes happens in washing. Solve that by knotting the ends once you get it back out.

My sewing machine came with a cover but still I prefer to keep it in its box. Its safe and secure and as it is boxed so I can stack my sewing stuff on it and around it. Simple and space saver.

some hints for thoes that want things a little closer or thoes that dont have power tools. just invest in taylors chalk, for the thread adaptor just cut up a wire clothes hanger that way you can have the thread hoist with it, for patern weights just use your drink coasters. the heavy ones are best, if you have A magnet then just use that, if you dont have a drill and safety pin then just sew closed the end and use the closed end as the 'pin' to push through,

Okay. Use a half sized spool of thread (empty or not) for the spool holder. It is a smaller size of spool and probably vintage or specialty by now.. but you can find them at garage sales and other places. Even if you have a regular cone thread holder... you still need something to keep it from spinning around. and one of these works.. or even a regular sized spool under it.. because it has the right hole size for the spike and the right circumference for the new spool. Just cover the machine with a towel that is big enough to cover all areas and around the bottom. Baby blanket or something. Washers. CHEAPASS WASHERS for fabric weights. I have bought some at a garage sale and glued them in stacks of three. You can cover them in lace/ribbon bought at a garage sale too. If you have a Harbor Freight in your area, sign up for their sales.. they have SUPER magnetic trays (better than sewing ones) Use a Giant Diaper Pin... It doesn't have to be attached to anything and pushing fabric through or pushing elastic through works the same. It is easy and secure. If you are just pushing a tube through so it is right side out. Use the dowel... or a chop stick... and the chopsticks work for turning corners out and making seams straight and stiff. I know this is an older video an I'm sure you have found better ways.. but I just thought I'd help. Dollar Tree has many wonderful thing to help and so doe the hardware store. and JoAnns is SUPER expensive for anything you need even with a coupon. Fabulous Fortune with ALL of your Endeavors!.

This thread is intended for sergers. Thy are only two ply thread. They just don’t hold up. When you use them on a serger you use 4 spools. After spending time sewing my item I would hate for things to fall apart.

The big spools work fine regardless if you have a serger. It saves money and my family has been using it for years without a serger as its not needed. They don't come out as you have to back stich.

could be the quality of the thread, the type of needle your using or you could have the roll of thread the wrong way round of up. all of these are common mistakes that evan pro's make, if its wrapping around the holding pin then its ither wring way up or your stopping/starting too harsh.

The threads that come off the spool that are wrapped like the serger thread and even the small thread shown work the very best if they are lifted off the top, so the purchased adapter shown is the best configuration. The threads that works best for sitting on top of the sewing machines are what we think of when we think of a spool of thread. 🧵. You’ll be surprised at how much better they both work when used correctly.

Nice sewing machine cover . My mom always said you should keep the machine covered and used those plastic covers you buy at the sewing shop, She had tons of hacks,too. We used tuna or cat food cans as pattern weights. Also, if you double the tuna cans X 4 underneath your dining room table's legs it's taller and a great cutting table when cutting out dress patterns. ( Hope you can visualize my hacks) Great video.Thanks.

The big spools are for overlockers, not for normal sewing machines. That is why they do not fit. You should not use overlock-threads for normal sewing.

i disagree, when your doing as much sewing as we do your gonna need that adapter or be changing rolls of thread every half hour or so. the bigger rolls are same quality but cheeper. the adapter works fine.
@bellaswan1459

Disagree 100% with what you said. I only use big spools and there are adapters for regular sewing machines to have them or you can just use a coffee mug. Most threads isn't just for a certian machine never was.
