I think these tips are invaluable. I only get 20 to 30 people watching my streams but I truly appreciate those people tuning in to watch me and I always acknowledge everyone on the stream. You're right, I don't worry about the numbers because they have gradually be going up. Thanks for the encouragement 🙏

Dope advice as always. Another thing I think is worth mentioning, don't go crazy on the visuals/animations. No matter how good it looks in your view in OBS, Twitch and streaming in general will compress the video a LOT and make it look a mess. Keep the style clean and simple for the most visual impact.

even though I consider myself good techie person I have been struggling doing proper live stream on IG as this is where most of my fanbase, and your calm and straight forward way helped me a lot, I hope this streaming hype won't last for long and all DJ's artists, Musicians return back to where they belong "Festivals, Clubs, Events, Concerts, Theaters etc...." and let us do what we do best "Creating & Performing Music" instead of juggling 8 balls in the air : D

I get them all except the numbers section. Remember, that if you have 25-50 viewers consistently viewing your stream there are over 6 Billion people on the planet so the odds that all of them will be in your city let alone State are rather thin. This is why having 2 friends you have coffee with tell another 2 friends they have espresso with tell 2 friends and so on is so important. If you can get all of those friends in the club for coffee and an espresso you are golden.

when i went on to Streamlabs instead of obs my mac which is an eight core beast handled the dj software and the broadcast together no problems and overtime the quality has greatly improved with little interference if any when at first there would be noticeable drop outs or stutters..I am mixing and broadcasting video and ii use just my mac to handle all of that on top of the dj gear and a Behringer audio interface. One Mac doing all the heavy lifting .The technical side is good but i cant get anyone to watch.Having large chunks muted afterwards is not helpful

Now thinking it thru and watching this video I decided not to. I recorded a test video and uploaded it to KZitem and it looks and sounds great. Not sure if you can look but I think the rust is gone enough to stream. djdarkknight96 I would love feedback. Oh and I will move my camera back lol.

have a cheap Behringer audio card that when i first got it made god awful noises when i connected it .Then i got another dongle and it worked perfectly and has since. The need for dongles with the more recent macs are the weak point in the set up .Get the wrong one and nothing works and that is a matter of trial and error as even ones with good reviews may not work well with certain things you use. Also one dongle i had lasted less than a month which is just a fucking joke but the Behringer audio interface works great and is dirt cheap.

Someone had explained to me a while back that being a good live streamer is more important than being a good DJ. I’ve watched live streams where DJs like to showcase their scratching and juggling skills but don’t really interact with their audience either through chat text or via mic. I tend to move onto the next streamer whenever I encounter this and other non interacting streamers as I can just watch KZitem videos if that’s what I needed. I much prefer the DJs who interact with their audience to a point where they begin to remember you from previous streams. Other viewers remember you and vide versa. The streamers goal in to provide a fun community that brings you back. Yes, you may encounter the odd train wreck mix, but that’s perfectly ok. (Just use sync cause nobody really gives a shit) I’m here to be entertained, not to critique your DJing skills....

Yes!!! Cleveland Terry nailed this one. I would like to add another one. Just have fun. It is not about money or having a fan base. Those things will come in time. I enjoy playing and learning more on the live stream. I also check out another DJ live stream (like CT). Since I am under 2 Radio stations umbrella, I have more freedom to promote and play on my 2 shows (working on 3). Also, promote your shows so people know where to find you. For example, I and my DJ partner are part of a family reunion at one of our radio shows next week. It's going to be a weekend event and I've been promoting it mostly on FB.

some very good advice but I think No.5 IMO is not true. Most people dont give a shit in clubs about what the DJ is actually doing and its the same on Twitch. Playing good sets, being open, talking with people or doing silly stuff to entertain them is way more important. And this is why beat sync is your best friend on Twitch.

No. Its all Market Saturation 101. This video was 2 years ago. Imagine the market saturation since then. There is just too many god damn djs, in general, and on Twitch. That is why you dont sweat the numbers. They will, however, see your VODs, but thats only if you leave them public, which is a risk. Or you have subscribers. This saturation alone is why a lot of people throw in the towel and get fed up with both the technology and the consistency game chasing Twitch metrics all together. No one should have to stream for 8 hours, everyday a week to chase Twitch goals. Its mentally exhausting.

I'm trying to understand how I could buy a record back in the day and play it at a party without copyright infringements but if I want to scream it even though I own the record not the art it seems that I'm not allowed to on twitch for copyright reasons so how do DJs get around these guidelines and reference to being able to scream music because the meaning of DJ is this jockey someone who plays music from their collection

KZitem automatically shuts you down midstream, would not recommend, James Hype couldn't even play his own new track. Twitch does not but if you save your streams they will silence parts of it, depending on which tracks you use (I think it's like -/+ 5 minutes of the copyrighted track). i have been on twitch for a little while .There was a break when they messed up my site but so far i have had very little interest.I dont have huge numbers across the board but twitch is practically dead.I really cant broadcast more than i do right now which is just once a week and usually for an hour ..On youtube i post stuff but with no regular time slot and still get more interest and the same on Mixcloud.Since getting Serato Studio i have become way more creative but really nothing on Twitch seems to help.I am not sure how much longer i will continue because it seems its not the right place for me.Thats a shame as my mixes dont get blocked the moment they go up and later they might get parts muted but on youtube an entire mix will get blocked over one tune.If i re edit something else will happen.Mixcloud as its Audio only and im not on the live thing yet seem to be ok as long as you post mixes longer that 6mins involving at least three songs then you are good but no blocks take downs or threats and people re post like and comment on the stuff i do as they sometimes do on youtube when youtube. are not getting in the way.The twitch crowd is quite young and maybe im just getting a bit old or maybe i just dont get the twitch eco system and dont have the time to commit to it like i should.I am not sure how much longer i will continue but while im stuck with no work and cant go back to the UK as the pandemic rages over there and i do not think i would survive a bout of Corona it keeps my hands from being idle and i enjoy doing creative stuff but once i can get in front of a real crowd i think my days on twitch will be numbered.

like i said i have my ipad on showing my stream and sometimes my partner will watch the stream via her under table computer and projector which is how i found out about the time difference between my performance and what everyone sees .This matters because at first i used to finish my show then look at it after and the end would be chopped off and thats because of the delay between what i am doing and what gets shown so now i monitor my ipad to be sure i am finished there before i sign off.

i dont look at how many are watching at the time of the stream because i am using one computer for everything and its a beast but its still pushing what it can do all at once to the limit so im too busy making sure that everything is working as it should.I usually do a pre broadcast run just freestyle to make sure the connection is good and that im not getting any crunching lag or stutter which can happen if things are not set up right and i also keep a fan on just in case.If all is running smoothly then i take a five min break before i go live and then the broadcast starts. All during that broadcast i have an i pad showing the stream and i monitor that and everything else as i go.I look at numbers later. They currently are not good.Thank god that none of this is my living as i would be homeless and starving by now.
