Voyage of the Damned / The Stolen Earth One that I caught on first viewing that nobody else who knows Who that I talked to ever picked up was this... In "The Stolen Earth", when all the various factions get together and talk on what would now be called a Zoom chat.... Harriet Jones calls it the "Subwave Network". She then goes on to say "I developed it, it was created by the "Mr Copper Foundation". I INSTANTLY picked that up. Mr. Copper is the guy who was left at the end of Voyage of the Damned with the credit card with a ton of money on it. That's what Copper did - he created this network which allowed them all to talk undetected. **LOVED THAT**

I didn't even notice this! you have a keen eye! awesome catch :D Just a sight correction the doctor didn't give the credit card to Mr Copper. He already had it so that the guests on the tour could "buy some knick-knacks" Which is why the doctor was surprised when he heard how much was on the card :)

@@TheLukecottle OK, good call. I just went back and rewatched that. My memory had the Doctor doing something with the card while he held it but I was remembering that wrong. I do admit it's ben some time since I watched this story - I wasn't remembering all the dialogue right. I had forgotten Copper's joy at the end there, especially saying "Oh Doctor, I will make you proud". It's not quite to the level of Wilf at the end of Partners in Crime happy, but this was a good scene. But the connection between him here and Stolen Earth is correct. One other fun connection. The actor who played Copper (Clive Swift) was in classic who as well. He was Jobel in Colin Baker's "Revelation of the Daleks".

@@DaxMicro Missy being after Prime Minister Saxon doesn't necessarily mean she's directly after him. You know she can be after anyone and still being AFTER Saxon and not before him. Since Saxon effectively disabled her regeneration with his laser screwdriver, any Master after her would have to be resurrected, not simply regenerated. Not saying that it couldn't happen, just that it's more likely, that it didn't. Oh and audiobooks aren't considered canon. Anything that happened outside of the TV show is not canon, except when the show itself does reference stuff from those, like the 8th Doctor's adventures in Night of the Doctor. That's I think the first and only time in the show that something was really referenced from the Big Finish audio works. So again, it's not really clear, where Missy stands, we know for sure, that she's somewhere after Saxon Master, but not where exactly in the line and how many regenerations may be between them, if she's really the last, or not.

I haven't found anything to confirm it, but in my head canon, the episode "The God Complex" depicts a torture chamber created and used by the people who operate the Teselecta to torture their victims. When asked what the Teselecra was for, its captain explained that they abduct people who got away with terrible crimes at the end of their timelines and then "give them hell." That's as specific as DW ever gets about what the Teselecta does with its victims. But the place depicted in "The God Complex" seems specifically designed to "give people hell." That would link "The God Complex" with "Let's Kill Hitler" and "The Wedding of River Song."
@TheJumpManiac

It's possible that Testimony (Twice Upon a Time) may be related to the Teselecta as well imo, with the Teselecta picking the evil ones up and putting them through hell, only allowing Testimony to extract and archive them after they deem the person has learned their lesson.

There are some other less obviously connected episodes. The Doctor has visited the same place and time in a few different incarnations but without crossing paths with himself. This is kind of a side effect of the series going on for so long and reusing some of the same settings across multiple seasons. You'd be surprised just how many times the Doctor could have encountered himself but didn't. Likely because he remembers being there before and goes out of his way to avoid his past self. I should say there's 3 other connected episodes. At the end of the 10th Doctor's era he goes on a farwell tour visiting all of his past companions. It's brought up again in The Death of the Doctor on the Sarah Jane adventures that he didn't only visit the 10th Doctor companions but actually every Companion the Doctor had up to that point. 11 admits this to Sarah Jane and Jo that he checked in on them without them even knowing prior to his last regeneration. The newest episode Power of the Doctor also mentions this when the Doctor meets Ace and Teegan again. This pretty much means every companion pre-10 has met the 10th Doctor at least once even if they didn't know it was him or didn't know he was there. 10 got a lot done before regenerating into 11.

Lots of foreshadowing in that episode. Cool concept but it serves as chibbers blueprint for episode formula. It even has the token “humans are scum” motif and manages to wrap everything up in the last few minutes with a pretty little bow on top. By no means is it anywhere near his worst episode as I still think that honour belongs to the Cyberwoman episode from Torchwood series 1 (granted thts a different show) but its still a hot mess of an episode, pun intended.

I liked the concepts of 42 but not the execution. The idea of answering a series of quiz show questions in an attempt to reach the control room before the ship blows up was interesting, a sentient star that lashes out after some meddling humans skim fuel from its surface, and said star having the ability to possess people on the spaceship. But by far, the best concept the episode covers is the idea of the Doctor being taken over by an evil force and the companions having to solve the problem while also dealing with a possessed Doctor. It's revisited by the 11th Doctor when he is turned halfway into a Cyberman, but it's definitely a cool concept that I want to see more of. P.S. I haven't watched the show past series 8, so I might have missed more stuff that happens after that.

The only part I can remember now is them finding the opening to a subway network for the London Underground. No, she said 3 things and that one of them was a lie. The Doctor's involvement with the Cloister Wars was confirmed in Hell Bent, but the other one, that he stole the moon and the president's wife, was revealed to be a lie put out by the Shobogans, and it was actually the president's daughter and he lost the moon rather than stole it. So if that was the lie, the part about him being a little girl is true. I have a video on this.
@Croftice1
Жыл бұрын
@@PenneySounds How do you know the 2nd thing is a lie? Just because the details are slightly different/don't match 100%? And perhaps that's what the Doctor actually calls out. Because few details were mixed up, doesn't need to mean it's a complete lie. Might have been intended as true, maybe that's what Missy/the Master actually remembered. Not like the Master was actually there, was he? So we still don't really know, which of the three statements is the lie. Missy/the Master knowing the Doctor since he was a little girl might actually be true. It's possible, but it's not what people think, like knowing the Timeless Child from the very begining. Since the Timelords were created from this child (using its DNA as a template), it's impossible that the Master (who's also a Timelord) was around at that time. The Master might have known some later regeneration of the child, that was female again. Or it could still be a lie, since 10th's run was implying, that they were two boys back on Gallifrey, that the Doctor and the Master grew together as childhood friends, as both being boys.

Since the night he stole the moon and the President's wife. Since he was a little girl. One of those was a lie. Can you guess which one?" We know they fought together during the cloister wars as it was a big timelord event and he told Clara: The last I heard, he stole the moon and the President's wife. Clara : Was she, um, was she nice? The President's wife? The Doctor : Ah, well, that was a lie put about by the Sheboglans." Now even though he confirms the moon story is a lie, he states it was a lie that everyone believed. So you could say the moon story and the master knew the moon story was fake or the master believed the story and the lie was the little girl, I believe the latter.

Akhaten was more a planet, than a sun. I mean sure it was hot (thank you, doing my best), but so is the planet Venus, you know. And since Akhaten was sleeping, it wasn't really burning all the time, only when awaken. They also mention (the 11th Doctor himself) a planet by name at some point.

I'm not too sure about No. 4, you see? Missy said that she "knew the Doctor since he was a little girl", and something else, and reveals right after saying those two things to Clara, that one of them was, in fact, a lie. And since Missy couldn't have possibly known the Doctor in their "first" incarnation (f you, Chibnall, for me it is and always will be William Hartnell!), since she/her first incarnation was not born yet, like, at all, that would make the statement a lie (and the second one the truth). I mean, yes, Missy could've known about the Doctor being a little girl before his REAL first incarnation, but she did not know the Doctor/child (as a person) back then. I mean, the Doctor and the Master grew up together and were born around the same time on Gallifrey (you know, before dark times... Before the Chibnall), both of them spend their childhoods together as best friends and played on the red grass, underneath the two suns and that beautiful red sky... So, yeah, many people use that quote from Missy to try and prove that the "Timeless Children" ark was planned a long time ago, but all of them rush heads over heals into those things and forget to do the one thing which is more important than anything else - listen! Anyway, I shall take my leave now. Farewell, fellow whovians! Allons-y!

Missy actually said 3 things and one of them was a lie. But here's the thing. What if the Master knew one of the Timeless Child's regeneration, that was female again? Not the first one obviously, but still? But then again, there's that growing together that was going on during Tennant's run, so yea.

Wait, if the Master knew the Doctor since he was a little girl, and that little girl was the same one as the Timeless Child, wouldn't that mean that the Master knew the Doctor before the advent of Timelords? That could imply that the Master is also a Timeless Child (for lack of a better term since we don't actually have a name for the race).
@Croftice1
Жыл бұрын
Either the Master knew some of the Doctor's pre-Hartnell regenerations that was female, but not necessary the very first one, the child found at the gate, or Missy lied. She said that one of those statements is a lie. So we don't know for sure.

Connections in source stories, and sometimes a action? The Doctor is very good at getting into trouble with crossing the timelines sometimes it is actually an accident or deliberate and often things aren't what they seem? There's forces at work that throw the Doctor into the middle of everything purely because it's someone else involved like one of the Doctors enemies or the time lords themselves deliberately involvement of their actions, and some believe it one Valiyard himself still playing with his own life as the doctor, but there's is many more individuals enemies of the Doctor who plays a role in the many different stories of the lives of the Doctor but why? ? One answer is that did this begin from the first Doctor time or after the second doctor?

Jeez, so much of this list is such a stretch. There were only two of three of these which were actual connections between the episodes. The remainder of them were just simply easy references. The entry about Yvonne Hartman happening to share a surname with a character only mentioned but not seen in a single serial in the 70s was just ridiculous. I guess someone was really struggling to meet their deadline with this list.
@Riftsrunner
Жыл бұрын
I think the Valeyard mention in the Name of the Doctor was a reference that the Valyard was a amalgamation of all the Evil sides of all their incarnations up to their 12 regeneration. And it was eluded to David Tennant's Doctor was slipping towards that at the end of his tenure. He was the TimeLord Victorious and in his final episode while berating Wilfred that he could have done so much more, before actually save him. I believe this was when the Valyard manifested. The Doctor walked off to do his farewell tour, while the Valyard was an echo who could have escaped through to Gallifrey following the Master and Rassilon. This was foreshadowed by the Master telling everyone who the Valyard was and where in the Doctor's timeline. At the time, the Doctor was in incarceration six. If we put the War Doctor in as 9, then 9 is the tenth incarnatuon, then David T. is 11 and 12 because of his ego of not allowing himself to regenerate into a new Doctor in the Stolen Planets. This put Matt as the Doctor's last regeneration, until the TimeLords gave them another regeneration cycle. Now being the Timeless Child wasn't known by the Doctor and everyone else, so is it possible, that Matt's Doctor would have regenerated on his own when that body failed, but to keep their secret, the exiled TimeLords could have jumpstarted his inate regeneration ability and 11 just assumed they gave him a new cycle of regeneeations?

I love how you mentioned the Valeyard, who we originally learn about in the full-season arc The Trial of a Time Lord, with the Sixth Doctor. There are two connections you didn't cover, both related to "The Stolen Earth." One's in "The Pirate Planet" (Fourth, written by Douglas Adams, part of the Key to Time full-season arc) and "Mysterious Planet" again, this time in relation to something other than the Valeyard. I really don't want to spoil anything, however! I'd say if you're totally new to classic Doctor Who, starting off with The Key to Time and The Trial of a Time Lord would be a great idea. You can buy both on Amazon -- that's how I got my copies.
