Rasputin was found on a floating piece of ice. What I read was that after being poisoned, shot multiple times, and thrown into an icy body of water, he actually died of hypothermia. Yes, he had water in his lungs, but he was found on top of a floating piece of ice, proving that he actually survived drowning and froze to death.

Great 10 facts video! Unfortunately Rasputin will always be shrouded with a lot of myth mixed in with the facts because of his connection with Russian royalty, who I am sure did everything possible to keep the facts to themselves and under their control. Also he had a larger than life legend in his own lifetime and these kinds of reputations only grow with time. Very interesting character.

The thing you have to realize about Rasputin, is he did have some uncommon knowledge and access to certain esoteric and real spiritual practices. There is a type of tantric energy siphoning that is theorized to only work when you lover is both enamored and seduced as well as taken to the heights of ecstacy, to the point that you are covered in their love fluids. THats one reason Rasputin didnt bathe. He also believed in a type of draconic belief in that true cleanliness is already taken care of enough by the body, and further actual cleanly practises, such as bathing, were antithetical to said belief. Another thing is that he was not utterly illiterate, recognizing, and memorizing various alphabetical symbols enough to know a name when he saw it frequently or a place on a map rarely. Likely he had autism in a minor form, but he was supposedly schooled in the use of certain mystic symbols and words, so he could perform rituals, real or not. There are also numerous accounts of mystics siphoning the energies of others, not just through sex, but proximity by way of mental or emotional stimulus, both of which supposedly are easy to do for just about anyone with proper practice. These ideas are at times referred to as " emotional/psychic vampirism". The harder thing to do, aside from the accounts of Rasputin's hypnotic gaze and mind controlling presence, is the siphoning of energy through sheer close proximity or physical contact. With this rare and darker esoteric talent, a person could enliven themselves frequently in any number of situations, especially when coupled with the afore mentioned methods. And the younger the "victim" or candidate is than you, the more energy you, in theory , could siphon. HEnce, another reason, aside from the obvious, why Rasputin banged so many women and whores. IT gave him power of the ego, the mind, and the spirit and body in a real sense. Gandhi did something similar, sadly, and though most people are not aware of it, while on his fasts he would often invite people to bring their children to his house to spend the day and night in the guise of " teaching the children about pacifism while vicariously using the childrens upbeat and youthful activity to embolden and uplift his own frail spirits during fast". Thats me paraphrasing. However, as a man that had formed connections to certain gurus or vedics with the knowledge of energy transmission from person to person, Gandhi often would take a small sliver of youthful energy from the children, having them all share a large bed with him in the night. There was nothing sexual about it at all, but reports were always to the tune of " the following day when parents would come to fetch their children, the kids were often tired and seemingly out of sorts, and looked it, whilst Gandhi would miraculously be in both high spirits, abd beaming with energy and healthy vigor". You can look those accounts up for yourselves, but every country in the world had knowledge of these traits and more, from soothsayers/seers, prophets, oracles, which are in fact different form each other; along with sin eaters, psychics, energy siphoners, and any manner of other paranormal things that would in modern times strain credulity. BUt hey, what do I know, over half the world believe in miracles and spirits and an afterlife ruled over by one or more omnipowerful beings in another dimensions. lol o>O

People just cannot resist feeding the myth of this man's supernatural powers. It's really ridiculous. Fact is, he was a remarkable con-man. He had the ability to manipulate people by using their religious beliefs, a very useful potion, especially when given the mantle of holy-healing-man. They hung on his every word. Now that's power. He told the doctors attending Alexei to stop giving him aspirin, which is a blood-thinner. He then told Alexei, as is reported, that he will be well, he will be healed, sleep, sleep, sleep...Those words worked with everything else as a powerful placebo. After that his so-called Holy Powers were held as authentic. More power. The guy knew what he was doing. He had a lot of fun with it, ha. Oh, yeah, cyanide has a limited shelf life. It degrades very quickly. If his food was laced with the stuff, and this is probably true, it was dead stuff, so to speak. The prince who shot him was neither a soldier, let alone a trained assassin. He was scared out of mind of this so-called Holy Man, and pumped off a shot or two, one of which wounded Rasputin but not mortally. Try to strip away the romantic myths and look at the facts, the dry facts; you'll begin to see the truth. What did Marx say, "Religion is the opiate of the masses." He was right. It's still true.

Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna was originally Princess Alix of Hesse, or in other words a Hapsburg, who were the carriers of haemophilia, which then through intermarriage caused most European royal families to have said disease in their genetic line, including Prince of Wales, the primary heir to the Hanover (ahem, Windsor) throne, Charles.

1. I think you really missed out on a major point by not discussing the nature of Rasputin's relationship with Youssoupouv. For example, Youssoupouv talked extensively about the size of Rasputin's member on multiple occasions. One of the most common possible motives given for Youssoupouv's murdering Rasputin was Youssoupouv feeling guilty and disgusted by their affair and his belief that only Rasoutin's death would free him from his sin. 2. you should check out the book Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert K Massie. In this book he delves deeper into medical reasons for Rasputin's success at healing the Tsarevitch.

I'm sort of disappointed that this video retold the highly exaggerated and dubious account of the whole 'impossible to kill' rasputin myth. For one, no trace of cyanide was found in his body during the autopsy. Either he declined to eat the poisoned cakes due to their not being to his liking, or else the cyanide was vaporised during the baking process. Also, the water found in his lungs didn't necessarily indicate he was still breathing when thrown into the Volga. The amount of water found there could have naturally entered his lungs even if he was dead when he was thrown in the river. It was the bullet to the head that killed him. And his 'preserved' private part? That has been long since debunked. They say that the alleged specimen is actually a horse phallus. There was a second alleged mummified ding-dong.... but this was found also to be a non-human specimen.

SuperMaudina: Well not to sound overtly cynical, but the sad fact is that these videos aren't produced with the ultimate goal of educating us... they're made to generate ad revenue. This is one of the rare channels where new content is released every day... and not only for this channel, but Simon also has his 'Biographics' channel as well, which effectively doubles his script-writer's workload. TheBlues: There have been many theories as to why they didn't find cyanide in his body. Some say they used old poison stock which was no longer toxic...another states that Rasputin had a stomach condition where he lacked the normal amount of gastric acid (which prevented the conversion from potassium to hydrogen cyanide).....another claims that the sugar included in the cakes helped to detoxify the poison, as sugar apparently metabolises the poison before the body can absorb it. Finally, there is my personal favourite theory: that which claims that Princess ...errrr sorry, I meant PRINCE Yusupov made it all up... after all, there has been a current theory gaining traction that the Brits (MI6) were implicated in his assassination, and that the fatal bullet came from a British gun. If that were the case, then Yusi would have had more than enough reason to embellish the incident (after all, he and his "wife" did seek asylum and had ended up living out the remainder of their lives in the UK). Either way, still a fascinating story!

Let me tell you a couple of three things about Rasputin: “There lived a certain man in Russia long ago He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow Most people looked at him with terror and with fear But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear He could preach the Bible like a preacher Full of ecstasy and fire But he also was the kind of teacher Women would desire.”

I generally like your videos but I find this too biased and too negative. I'm not an admirer of Rasputin but I think History or Biography vids must be imparcial.

This TopTenz Rasputin was like a mini doc of him I have never heard before. Like you, Caleb Winfield I was interested because if he was some kind of healer and mystic; how can he be compared to Anti-Christ and/or evil, or even just smelly. TopTenz has solved the riddle of Rasputin. We can finally move on. Nice work.

I don't really think of Rasputin as evil. Far from it actually. But I will think he was quite an enigmatic man.

Rasputin would not allow Alexandra or the doctors to give Alexei aspirin, which is the worst thing you could give a hemophiliac. I do believe he had some other-worldly powers. If only N&A would have told the Russian people why Rasputin was there at the palace, things might have been different.

No one better to satiate my appetite for random facts than the eloquently spoken Simon Whistler! I knew quite a few of these already, but I surprisingly didn't know he was so promiscuous; I did hear about his "third leg", however, I did not know it was saved for future observation!

Yo I don't know what kind of entity was keeping this man alive but that definitely wasn't anything divine. The only reason I could see anyone or thing resisting death that hard must know whatever comes after is going to be a literal nightmare for that individual. He probably did sell his soul
