Also Kane was unmasked in the ring for the first time, surely deserved a mention. I mean, he was covering his face with his hand but you could clearly see he wasn't "burned". Kayfabe was alive back then after all. Correct me if I'm wrong. I remember dx unmasking him in a backstage segment but you couldn't see anything.

Thanks to the Attitude Era Podcast, I have a newfound appreciation for the brilliance of Chris Kreski. It's not fair that Vince Russo is a household name amongst wrestling fans for his mostly terrible ideas, but the guy who led the greatest year of the AE goes unknown. Seriously, there aren't any pictures of Kreski online anywhere, and he's responsible for some of our fondest wrestling memories. Though it's not fair to blame things on Stephanie taking over as "head writer", because that implies she was the sole creative driving force behind WWE. When in actuality, after Kreski left, that was when WWE started writing by committee. So when we say Steph was "head writer", all that means is that she was the head honcho who all of the writing team gave their ideas to, and she would then iron them out. She didn't have the same level of creative control as Russo and Kreski did.

Hey Plumpy, this was much better than usual. Little fast paced mumbling, it sounded great. I always love your phrasing, your metaphors, descriptive terms and nicknames for everyone, its just always been that tendency to mumble while speeding up that drives me away, so great work man! Keep it up please.

I'd check out the Something To Wrestle podcast because according to Bruce Prichard, Kreski is given credit for a lot of highly regarded story lines even though he was a bit out of his element and didn't really do much. Prichard actually claims that Gewirtz was the spiritual head writer in that transition period between Russo and Stephanie.

@VenseyNess
7 жыл бұрын
Plumpy doesn't exactly make it a secret that he hates R-Truth with all of his being. There's a clip of him staring blankly into a camera with a serious expression in an arena while everyone around him goes "what's up?" "what's up!" "what's up?" "what's up!", and I've seen him use it like at least a half a dozen times.

Bruce Prichard spoke about Summer Slam 2000 on his last Podcast. He spoke about Chris Kreski and stated that while he was a very nice person, he really didn't write much of the show. He states that more often then not, Brian Goertz would pitch ideas to McMahon and they would together form story lines then Kreski would simply format it into a script if you will.

2 Facts: The match Undertaker and Kane was the first time we see Kane in his sleeveless attire. The one he wore when he and Taker became the Brothers of Destruction again in 2001. The referee who officiated the match stated that he would just let them fight and not get involved, which is why neither Taker or Kane tried to pin each other or make them tap and why Kane forfeited when he was unmasked. For the first time I might add.

SummerSlam 2000.... my god that was a good and memorable event in my childhood, such as as seeing new young talent debuting , the first TLC match, Shane falling from the titantron, Jerry lawler beat Tazz with help from JR and it was the night where The Undertaker unmasked Kane and for me at the time this was one of the first times that we would try and get a good look as to what Kane's face would've looked liked even though we know today even since the unmasking in 2003 but there was always that dark question as to if he was really burnt or not. Good times....good times...
