Hello from the Rax hometown of Springfield OH. A lot of the Rax restaurants in this area were converted into Fazoli's.

Burger Chef, when worked there, had burgers, cheese burgers, fish sandwiches, apple pies, fries, 3 flavors of shakes, and sodas. Those hats came later. They rest came about after I signed up for the US Navy.

I would say Kenny Rogers Roasters, Howard Johnsons and Chi Chis were hardly fast food, they were all sit down restaurants.

Carrols had a number of locations in Upstate New York and Pennsylvania, serving hamburgers, shakes and fries. In the Albany - Schenectady - Troy area, early 1960s, they ran a promotion in cooperation with a local top 40 radio station, WPTR, handing out textbook covers featuring WPTR and Carrols advertising. I understand that Carrols later got absorbed by Burger King.

You can't mention Carroll's without also mentioning Mike's Submarines and NEBA Roast Beef, no? Fond memories of my teenage youth in the Capitol District, 60 years ago…

The worst restaurant meal we ever ate was at a Howard Johnson on the Ohio turnpike.
