The $100 replacement budget for things I had decluttered but later might need was a game changer for me. It gave me the grace to make a mistake knowing I had a safety net. I was able to happily part with a lot more Justin Case items. After three years I've not had to replace a single thing. That tells me how little I really need to live my best life.

Some perspective on that $100 that will make you feel great. Dawn said she’s replaced about a TOTAL of $100 worth of stuff in almost 9 years of decluttering!

Dawn was my first introduction to decluttering and it definitely clicked with me, so much so,that I just went to town on practically my whole house, clearing things out by the car loads. It felt so good and changed my life

I finally got rid of coffee cups and saucers. I don't drink coffee or tea, so I never use them. My husband and I each have oversized bowls with a handle that we use for the occasional hot chocolate or soup.

Thank you for these tips. I have followed Dana and Dawn (and others including you) for quite a while and it is nice to have a 'refresher' course. I also love the comment about the 'stage of life' and how much do I want to maintain and keep track of. I am on the cusp of retirement and starting to look around and evaluate what do I really want to deal with now. I have decluttered quite ruthlessly (I think) but can see that some things that were so important to me are no longer anything I want to continue to keep up with. Many Just In Case items. Sigh. It's ongoing, isn't it! Thanks again.

If you have your own bathroom, attach a 21 pr. shoe organizer to the back of the bathroom door and use this to organize everything from cosmetics to vitamins to first aid, foot stuff, teeth stuff, etc. Buy the see through plastic pouches.

I personally do nót like the broad idea of "borrowing". The item cost someone else money and if I break it accidentally, it may or may not be possible to replace it. I myself have only a handful of friends to whom I might lend something. Not all people care about your belongings as much as you do and I've learned that the hard way of not getting things back.

I wish I had discovered minimalism when my children were babies too. I was so overwhelmed by those first few years and looking back I now remember how cluttered everything was and how I bought and prioritised stuff way to much when babies really need so little.

I love taking a limited amount of time and working on one area. Recently I was at my grandkids home and their mom told them to go clean up the playroom. They thought it would take hours . It was a mess. 😂. I suggested we set a timer for 10 minutes and I would help them. We finished the room in about 11 minutes. They were so excited at how quickly it came together. The power of a limited time as well as working together. 😊

Candice, you have been absolutely so helpful to me in this journey!!! You were the first person I watched two years ago. I just realized I never subscribed and don't know how that is possible!! I have been decluttering my life for two years now. It was so hard ripping the band aid off and getting started. I grasped and cried and got frustrated. But today I am still going and I'm bringing years of stuff out of the attic and I can't believe how much faster I'm able to let it go. As you say...the decluttering muscle! Thank you so very much for your continued videos on this topic. You are a true inspiration! ❤ God bless you and have a Merry Christmas!!!

I feel like we really DO need all the diff “flavors” of decluttering/minimalist “guides.” Lol. I get a little something from all of you guys. Lol. I guess the main driver for me was “just start.” Or less thinking, more doing. Or something getting done is better than waiting for “perfect inspiration” or “perfect skill.” Half done is better than nothing done. Etc. Once you begin to take action, the ball starts kind of rolling as if to follow gravity. It only begins to “unfold” for you AFTER you get up and put you hand to something. So “doing” actually creates inspiration rather than trying to find some spark before you start. Procrastination/perfectionism and over thinking…before I would ever lift a finger…used to be my main issues.
