I was making a 36” round table and gluing 6” boards together. I bought 4 of the 36” aluminum bar clamps but when I went to use them I realized they were really 35”, which really screwed me up. I had to take an inch off the table for them to work. But I still buy most of my clamps, especially “F” style ones, at HF. They work well and they’re cheap. Also I recently bought a drawing compass from HF which is extremely well made and only about $8.

I have the dust extractor at home and have many upgrades over the years, a chip seperator and filter have made it very functional and I think I have about $600 in total of the last 7 years. I work as a scenery carpenter and buy all of my smaller bits 1/8 to 9/64 from HF, The F (6 up to 48inch)clamps are cheap and work as well as bessy clamps or any name brand clamp, I tried the bar clamps in the video and ended up tossing them out. Never tried sanding products (my job pays for them)

FYI, I'm commenting because I look for discounts and go down shopping rabbit holes, so helping others helps me. I'm not meaning to hijack the video content For Rubber mallets, you can find them in the tiling section of other stores too. They'll be about the same price as HF. There will usually be both color options (white and black) If you'd like mostly see-thru plastic ammo cans in the same size, Walmart will sometimes have them.

The best creeper is an old 4'x8' plastic political sign...I have a Hispanic friend who calls his a 'Mexican Creeper', I asked him why, he said, it was FREE...anyway they work great, put the politician's name on the bottom, then you can jack up the car and slide around anywhere very easily. I put the jack stands on top of the sign so it doesn't move aqround when I'm sliding on it. When I store the sign, I have a VW bus and keep the plastic sign under the engine/transmission 'politician's name up :-)' to catch the drips that VW's are famous for. When I need to use it I just wipe up the drips. The sign works well on a garage floor, concrete or asphalt and also on grass for outdoor uses. I was repainting a green trailer's rust spots the other day, the sign worked very well on top of the gravel I had there. I've had the same one for over 5 years but if I need a new one they are everywhere after election day...a Tip; To get them take along a screwdriver, flat/phillips #6 and wire cutters. Most signs are either screwed to something else or tied with wrap ties to a fence. That way you get a sign without having to tear it up.

I have two boxes of sanding belts and a belt sander I bought a few years ago. The belts were a total failure and I gave up on Harbor Freight for this failure and the Chicago 1/2” drill that I bought, the drill worked well but I’ve not been able to buy a couple of spare batteries (the Harbor Freight stores do not carry this product anymore……… they give me no options. Definitely not the way to run a business. In the past year or two I have not returned to buy from this company and never will. The lack of customer support and extremely poor quality will eventually be their downfall.

I got their smaller, cheaper dust collector, 7 amp if I recall. It might not be as good as the one you show, and it might not be nearly as nice as even more expensive ones. But it's a heck of a lot better than just my shop vac. A cyclonic separator made from a trash can using a simple inexpensive kit from Amazon makes huge difference, too.

One issue with this video is the creeper. I got the same one. It broke. The wheels did not hold up but bent and came apart and the swivel bearings went all over. I eventually made my own out of wood with slats ripped at a slight angle to make the curve. Works great, I made it, and it is sturdy as a brick poop house.

For the 1/8" drill bits, people should look for double-ended jobber bits in bulk in plain black oxide steel. If you're lucky enough to live near industrial tool stores, you'll see how cheap they are. A 10 pack (so 20 usable ends) will be like $5 for shorter bits good for drilling sheet metal and plywood up to 3/4" thick.

For that Japanese pull saw, the new style (as shown in the video) at HF has induction hardened teeth. If you liked the previous version, you'll really like the new version. I have two. One is my "beater" and the other is my good one. They're a great way to introduce someone to the advantage of Japanese-style pull saws with minimal investment Huge wrenches such as aluminum pipe wrenchesand combination (open and box end) steel wrench sets are great deals at Harbor Freight. If the split leather work gloves ever go on sale for $1 again, stockpile those. They're super durable and comfortable even though they're unlined.

Definitely need a cannister filter for that dust collector. With the original bag, you actually have a dust pump. Otherwise, those machines are a beast. For the price of the dust collector and a cannister filter, you're still below the cost of a comparable Jet, Dust Right, Shop Fox or Grizzly model. Dozens of videos on how to modify them as well. They are a popular starting point for a lot of folks. Good tip on the drill bits.

Concerning the dust collector, I have that exact one and mine sat unused for 7 years.. Turned it on and it fired right up.. As far as upgrades.. There are a couple I would recommend.. A cyclone separator and a cartridge filter. The cartridge filter does a better job of filtering the air.
