True, Craiova is not gangasta's paradise... :) BUT is true that the people from Oltenia region are, maybe, a bit more proud that they are Romanians and you do not need to play to much with this ;) :) The Romanians in the south-west are, somehow, much closer in typology to the Italians... They speak faster, with the "perfect simple" and they say that they are faster by nature :) (mai IUȚI :) )

Welcome to Craiova, enjoy and have fun! For good food, you can try Manor restaurant(exquisite, with old elegant charm), Epoca Steak House, Mythos restaurant, Roata restaurant(it has village design) etc In the center, you should also visit the Mântuleasa church, it has a very special and unique design, and very close is Romanescu house, i think this house can be visited at the interior too, it looks wonderful! Other gorgeous houses are Zamfirescu house, Bengescu house, Dianu house, Vorvorenilor Palace. And if you want to eat some cakes or only see the spectacular interior, go to Minerva, it is very close to the Old Town.

Dont act like a fan of anything from Bucharest in Craiova! Really do avoid marginal neighbourhoods or fishy looking people there. Keep it in the center and dont try to make friends with any stranger in the street. Just as precaution measures. You never know who you meet, even though people should generally be well intended and friendly, but its less safer than Transilvania. Also, not much to see outside city center, which is quite lovely. Maybe the mall, a bit, but nothing special about it. A football match there should be an even better experience than what you had before, just a pitty that the fans are divided now... Enjoy your stay there! LE i forgot about parks and museums. Only one thats really a do not miss is the Romanescu Park. Rest are optional.

Welcome to Oltenia! The south-western region of Romania. Too bad you do no longer have the car... Most of the things to visit are in the north of Oltenia, also known as "Oltenia de sub munte" - word for word translated as "Oltenia from under the mountain" in the foothills of the Carpathians. Places to visit: - Târgu Jiu - smaller city, north of Craiova, home of the famous sculptural ensemble of the great sculptor Constantin Brâncuși: it is composed of three monuments: the Table of Silence, the Gate of the Kiss, and Endless Column. - Tismana Monastery - one of the oldest in the southern part of Romania. - Cheile Sohodolului - The Sohodol Gorges - a smaller version of the Bicaz Gorges - Peștera Muierilor (Women's cave) and Peștera Polovragi (Polovragi cave) - the latter is near Cheile Oltețului (Olteț gorges) - Transalpina road, connecting Oltenia with Transylvania, reaching even higher than Transfăgărășan. - Horezu, small town famous for its pottery. Nearby you can visit Horezu monastery, Bistrița monastery, Arnota monastery. - Further east Olănești salt mines, The Olt valley along with the Cozia monastery. These are not even half of the places you can visit.

Palinca is an alcoholic beverage mostly made in Transilvania. In the southern parts of Romania, the equivalent drink for palinca is tuica. (say tzuicah and everyone will understand). It is made from plums , but is less stronger than palinca. The original palinca is made from pears and tzuica is mostly made from plums or apricot tree. Regarding the mici , there are some places where the original recipe is strongly used, but pretty much the meat composition is the same all over the country. Hi guys Just one advice: don t speak to much about Rapid București in Craiova!!! For the people who live in that region it is just one team and nothing else: Universitatea Craiova!!! You should visit the stadium of Universitatea Craiova and you can get more information about this team(the fans are just awsome) Have a nice trip

Țuica is more common in the south area. Palinca is more tied to the Transylvania / Ardeal area. But to be honest.. I don't think all the restaurants sells țuica or palinca. They are traditional drinks.. and in the past țuica was often made especially by the people from rural areas (like homemade / in my yard made țuica) 😄 But it's still worth trying tho. For example țuica is also liked during the winter.. when you make it hot and put some sugar in it. Is starting to taste quite good (or even delicious) 😁 It's like the other alternative for hot wine during winter. Also țuica is good for your health too (can be used during cold days or even when your tooth hurts.. keep some țuica on it and the pain might start going numb).. but drink responsibly.. not like an aIcohoIic person 😅

If you are in Craiova, you can also visit nearby cities like Slatina and Pitesti and then also Curtea de Arges (former capital of Tara Romaneasca or how you foreigners call it "Wallachia").

So if you are in Craiova you have of course the Old city center, than you have the Nicolae Romanescu park, then you have some museums like the art museum or the Museum of Oltenia(the region your are in Romania right now), and also you can go to Segargea or Corcova for some wine sight seeing or stuf like that, or if you would like to travel further you have the danube(what we call Cazanele Dunarii) cauldrons near Drobeta Turnurnu Severin, Eselnita and Orsova where the Danube meets the mountains

Hi travelers, go to Nicolae Romanescu Park, also the Old City Center is interesting and has a lot of nice places to eat, drink and hang around. See if there is any football match on Ion Oblemenco stadium and any concert in the Cult Club. Craiova has also a nice art museum and a central walking area which is nice. Ask also the locals :)

Steve & Ivana ... Gotta thank u guys for that vlog of u guys making mici in Malaysia here ... Coz with that video, d Romanians know a bit more about Malaysia or specifically about Sri Aman, a small town in Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia and Malaysians particularly d Sarawakians know something about mici too from that video of yours ... So a win - win situation indeed ... 😄 ... Only too bad u guys didn't teach d locals here how to prepare & make d mici or did u leave d recipe for mici making with d locals in Sri Aman there, i am not sure .... Coz mici could be very popular in Sarawak, Borneo here if d locals here has d recipe to prepare & make d mici and maybe d correct & proper way of bbquing d mici as well ... Anyway d video of that mici making in Malaysia turns out to be a popular video in Romania then, and we are happy to know that ... Anyway lots of ❤️ from us in Malaysia 🇲🇾 here to u guys and to all Romanians out there ... " Salam dari jauh dan Terima Kasih ya " ... 🙏

Yes, that's how some food tradition started, with one traveller bringing a recipe from another country and then the locals adopting it and modifying it. Mici was probably brought to Romania from the Balkans and Turkey and it's now different from what they have similar.

Oh yeah, the Cluj - Petrosani - Craiova - Bucharest Interregio train indeed. The Jiului Valley with its many tunnels are amazing, I confirm. Making these long hour journeys in Romania are my specialty. Been on almost all the CFR active lines and can say that know the Romanian railways. It's been a joy whatching you travel in our beautiful country. In Craiova there are a few places to visit, like the Nicolae Romanescu Park with it's beautiful sightings, never been there but been recomended even to me, only seen in pictures. Have a nice one! Cheers

Guys :), I guess you realized by now that mici don't come as a standard size. So, yeah, ask about their size before ordering, or you might have a big surprise. Not that this doesn't happen to us, romanians, too. Much love.

Ha,ha,ha you are finally in the land of the oltenians! The oltenians are noisy and cunning. They have a developed sense of humor. They speak the purest Romanian (literary) language, very close to old Latin. Do you know that old Bucharest (churches, villas, squares, roads) were built with the money of the oltenians nobles? (I mean starting 300 years ago). The people of Craiova have a old folk song where they describe themselves well : My mother made me Oltean, I'm wearing an Astrakhan hat And tulpan shirt, The one who is friendly with me I give him my coat, Who's messing with me, May God protect him, That I become a poisonous snake that bite very bad!
