This guy is great. I was a practicing attorney (not estate planning) for 30+ years, and he puts every question and situation out there that one could encounter in simple, easy to understand language. I look forward to each of his videos. The man is a credit to his profession.

Thank you for providing education us about Estate Planning. I was looking for your take on Estate Planning for "child-free" couples--beyond the "simple transfer" from one spouse to the surviving spouse. We are an active senior couple richly surrounded with nieces/nephews and godchildren who brought/bring joy for so many years. Also, we are philanthropist and considering leaving $$$ to a university. So far, I love your take on how to approach estate planning. I am super grateful for you!

Just wondering if having a savings account in wife & husbands name and a pod to children when either or both parents die. The $200k would be paid equally to the 3 pod no tax or probate is my understanding right no other assets exist

Ya can't say give the children the house equally if two children have their own house their own lives in the third child needs a home has three kids or whatever her husband died. I've seen people when they die it's like these kids have their house my daughter has lived with me the last five years I want her to keep this house or so the house to the other two so she can get her own home. Well actually it said they should be offered first sale. In the woman's like hey look the house is too big but if you guys help me I will keep it live here and you live in this state you live in that state with your families. Your bedroom is still here your bedroom is still available Thanksgiving and Christmas we should have celebrations at Mom's house. I'm the oldest one if I die you guys keep the house and sell it 50/50. It doesn't always work that way but that was one of the greatest things I've seen

This could end up in divorce! Especially with step children. It's a hard conversation. Is it better to get a child to buy your home, you continue to live in it and travel. Piss part of the money away. Fuck all this.

Joint ownership is the "tightest" way to avoid any kind of probate, and avoids contested wills. I'm glad I have no children--less legal garbage. Life is nothing but money and legal garbage.

I want to keep my stepchildren from receiving any of my money. If I pass before my husband he gets my money, I absolutely don’t want them to see a penny of my money, that goes for my home. I want my son to get everything

What happens when one of us passes away A trust to be used by other spouse n when spouse dies, it reverts back to the kids After both pass... children equally Maybe house to child or grandchild Leave it to kids outright or into a trust so they can't blow it or a spouse of our kid's can't get to it Who will deal with this.. executer or trustee. One kid or 4 kids What do we do with our personal effects... let kids figure it out. Side letter nonbinding side letter or legal document for personal effects What happens if we are alive but we are out if it incapacitated Who If we have surgery or dementia, who do we want making healthcare decisions Living will stating our wishes To unburden our kids Living trust or will to bequeath stuff to kids Probate sucks!!!! Trusts will eliminate the courts Future long term care... skilled care needs... insurance options? Protect what we have to prevent nursing home from taking all our stuff
