Natural preservatives
Usually when food is kept for a longtime then some changes start coming in its taste, shape and colour which spoils the food. This is due to presence of microbes in air. They bring physical and chemical changes in food. Due to eating this type of food make us suffer from many diseases. That’s why we should use natural preservatives to protect food from being spoiled.
Salt is an important natural preservative. It preserves pickle, sauce, and box packed food products. Salt is also used to preserve meat due to presence of chloride ion. Due to presence of salt, oxygen is not able to reach food which is important for existence of micro-organism.
lemon’s juice is another natural preservative. It acts as an obstacle in microbe’s activity. It is used to preserves sauce, pickle etc. Lemon also provides sourness to the food which makes it tastier.
cloves make food tastier and also used to preserve juicy food. Now a day’s clove is used to decorate food and used in making coco, chocolate, and ice-cream.
Cinnamon is mostly used to make food tasty but it is an antibiotic. It can be effective in stopping food poisoning. It’s oil is used while packing of meat and other food products to keep them fresh for long time.
Black mustard’s oil (rai) helps in preservation of food products by fermentation. This makes the food products last for long time.
Mustard’s oil or Phulen’ s oil also help in preservation of food by making a layer of oil on it which prevents air to come inside. Due to this, microbes can’t remain alive in food and it last for long time.
citric acid is also used as a preservative in jams and squash. Citric acid cleans sugar and prevents it from becoming granulated. It prevents food from getting spoiled and also provides sourness.
sugar is more soluble in water. So it gets dissolved in water present in food that prevents increase of microbes in food. So that, we can preserves food for long time.
Parsley have anti-oxidant property which is very useful for our body and it is used to preserves the food for long time.
Vitamins E is also fulfilled with anti-oxidant property and with it we can preserves the food for long time. Vitamin E increases taste and preserves the food for long time.
