Carla Lyles I saw the Antonov 225 at the Farnborough Air Show one year. It was so big that it didn't seem so much to fly, more to slowly progress across the sky!

Walked through the C-5 Galaxy at an air show many years ago. It was the world's largest at that time. These planes are sooo huge. Thanks for making a great video.

Air show walk through the C5, it will hold 11 tour buses. Just so the avg person can visualize its size.

@flip inheck Until 1982 the C-5 was the biggest then came the AN-124 IN 1982 (air showed in '85) and the AN225 December 1988. I believe the more recent 747-8f from 2005 is also a behemoth at 440t mtow. Should have been featured here.

I always wonder how they land those c5 during the air shows on strips intended for 130s and 135s. Around here all the airstrips are shared airforce on one side and commercial on the other.

@cburgess513 I love it too. I remember reading about the C5 in the mid 1960s. It had a rough start. Wing spar problems with cracking while on the ramp because of weight. I think.

@Arthur Humphreys No, you're wrong. The Soviet reusable shuttle Buran was in space. On November 15, 1988, it entered Earth orbit. The flight lasted 205 minutes, during which time the ship made two orbits around the Earth, after which it landed at the Yubileiny aerodrome of the Baikonur cosmodrome. Just because of the collapse of the USSR there was no more funding.

Favorite is the AN-225. I've seen it at KMSP in person. Just a beast of a plane that took forever to get airborne! The AN-124 is sitting there right now after dropping off some mining equipment from Belgium last week.

Cool video! I noticed you gave some of the measurements in metric, some in imperial and some in both. I really appreciated when you said both! As a non-North American person I paused during the first few to google the metric conversions, but I got sick of tabbing out and just started comparing the numbers without context, but when you gave both measurements it was super easy for me to both compare and understand! Thanks!

Slim Pickins Right you are, they have a very distinct sound. The tips of the props are exceeding Mach 1 and that’s one of the reasons they are so loud, same as the Tu-95/142 Bear. I’ve heard on long flights it’s very hard to stay awake as the constant droning lulls a person to sleep.

My best friend's dad flue the C-5 for many years...When we were kids my friend would have his dad blow bubbles through his tear glands !!!- When he started flying the C-5s the cockpits were not pressurized - He told me that this was common among early C-5 pilots...

I think that a list like this one would be better if it was split into two groups. The first would be mass produced (50+) aircraft like the Airbus 380, Galaxy C-5, Boeing 747 and An-124 while the second would include some unique or limited production aircraft like the Dreamlifters, Belugas, An-225, Guppies,,,

Just like VonBraun Oleg Antonov is a giant of engineering. He had that extra the makes all the difference. I marvel at the idea that the Wright Bros first flight could happen inside the Mriya. All within 100 years.

Just a heads up...the plural of “aircraft” is not “aircrafts” It's just aircraft, the word aircraft is both singular and plural depending on how its used in a sentence ergo "I saw an aircraft" or (if there was more than one aircraft) you'd say "I saw many aircraft" NOT aircrafts.

103,600 pounds is not approx 47 tons. It's 51.8 tons. Big difference.
