I'm looking for a career/job where I can use calculations, mechanics of solids, 3D modeling (such as CAD, ANSYS, or AutoCAD, etc.) to help with a meaningful project where I can see tangible results. Whether that be through buildings or bridges, or even aircrafts. Are there jobs out there that I can get that are like this an MSE? And if so, what are some examples?

Yes, I’ve seen MSEs in roles such as Failure Analysis Engineer, Fatigue Engineer, or Design Engineer which all utilize those skills and tools. Other roles that MSEs often end up in that use CAD are Process Engineer and Manufacturing Engineer. The responsibilities/skills you’re seeking also align with Mechanical Engineering, so that may be something to look into as well. Hope that helps!

Is B.tech in material engineering worth it,are the jobs aspect same in it too?
@itsamaterialworldpodcast

I would say the job prospects are the same, if not similar! The degrees (BS vs BE vs BTech) seem similar enough, although I’m not certain. I think a Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering is definitely worth it!

what is Master of Science in Materials Science and Business Administration? Is it worth to study for better future?

Pursuing an MS in Materials Science and Engineering can be helpful to gain a deeper technical knowledge base in an area of interest and/or pursuing additional research experience to help differentiate you from Bachelor’s graduates in your job search. For an MBA (Master of Business Administration), you are typically gaining a more in-depth understanding of business, strategy, leadership, etc. As for if you should pursue it, it depends on what your long-term goals are. If you’d like to end up in an executive position at a company, an MBA is sometimes/oftentimes a prerequisite. For engineering management roles, an MBA definitely isn’t required (it won’t hurt, but it’s not required). I personally received my MS degree in Materials Science and Engineering but don’t currently plan on pursuing an MBA. Generally, an MS can act as 2 years of work experience so you can qualify for higher level roles after graduation (which generally means higher starting salary). Note: this is not always the case. Hope that helps!

Hello Sir!! I'm a MSE backgrounded student... I'm doing my BSc in MSE.... But I've a huge passion for programming... Is it possible for me to switch to CSE(Computer science and engineering) in MSc and PhD program?

Great video! What is the possibility to study PhD in materials science and engineering with chemistry background?? I’m almost done with my chemistry bachelors but idk if I need more physics and math background instead of chemistry.
@itsamaterialworldpodcast
Жыл бұрын
I would assume you definitely can pursue a PhD in MSE with a Chemistry background. MSE often combines physics and chemistry but the balance of the two in a curriculum is dependent on your preferences and the courses you take and the research you conduct. I don’t think there are any restrictions based on your background but it’s up to you to convey why your Chemistry background will serve you well as an MSE in your PhD applications.

@@itsamaterialworldpodcast is it tough course ? Can i relate it with petroleum Engineering as i have completed my B-Tech on petroleum Engineering
@itsamaterialworldpodcast

It’s a similar level of difficulty to other engineering courses! And the petroleum industry seems multi-disciplinary so I bet there are materials engineers and chemical engineers within that field along with several other backgrounds

Please answer my question I am hoping a realistic and better reply from you. I am interested in mechanical or also in mechateonics engineering and I want to work as a mechanical engineer in automobile industry like BMW Tesla Mercedes but I got material science engineering based on my merit position now I don't understand that should I go through in MSE if like mechanical. And can I work in automobile industry with bachelor's in MSE as many people said that MSE career is research based I don't know 😞

I’d like to think so! Materials engineering as a whole is very versatile, and you can use your materials background to make an impact in any industry, including aerospace, semiconductors, medical devices, clothing, renewable energy, batteries, and more!

What are the chances that a company will sponsor an h1b visa for a materials engineer and he/she will make the cut ??
@itsamaterialworldpodcast
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Arnav! While I personally am not too familiar with the process, I found a website (search “TheDataMate” on Google) that seems helpful. This has an H1B visa probability calculator as well as a list of H1B Visa Sponsors. I think the chances of H1B visa sponsorship vary significantly depending on the company, but there are quite a few companies that sponsor H1B visas for materials engineers.

My main plan is research scientist but Would it be possible to pursue one of the engineering roles with a bsc in chemistry and msc in materials science ? Maybe potentially a phd in materials science and engineering ?
@itsamaterialworldpodcast
Жыл бұрын
I would say yes! There are a lot of research focused roles that operate in wet labs, chemistry labs, etc. Chemistry can be a key component of a research scientist role so yes I would say that is possible. The only thing to note is that typically research scientist roles are offered to those with a PhD. It’s not impossible to get one with a Bachelor’s or Master’s (one of our MSE Academy members is a Research Scientist II with a Bachelor’s degree), but it’s something to keep in mind.
