The most mind-blowing thing for me is that in prey 2017, after you’ve acquired some neuro mods, you can actually go back and finish the test, you get an achievement for it too. But it hit me because that’s why they were confused during the test in the initial part, because you were supposed to be using the powers but your current version didn’t have them. Pretty damn cool in my opinion

The only thing "mind blowing" about Prey 2017 is that there's people who unironically like it, yet have IQs high enough that they can dress themselves without drowning in their own drool. But I guess that's true for every Arkane game, I mean the Dishonored series is essentially "Basic Bitch: The Game," yet people acted like that was this huge upset that was going to re-invent multiple genres... Until they realized that literally every game it was being compared to is better, and started rolling back their smack talk on HItman, Deus Ex, Bioshock, Farcry, and Assassins Creed. Prey 2017 needed to underperform in sales and reception for society to learn a lesson... Which they refused to learn anyways. But at least Prey 2017 got a pretty solid "meh" from most people, and every time something with Bethesda's name on the box underperforms or fails, that's a victory for everybody.

One of the things I like about the opening for Prey (which I went into having seen it before in lets plays) was that if you pay attention, you get a few clues that not all is as it seems. There’s also a note on one of the computers regarding the birds and instructions to leave them out next time.

We need more love for Mass Effect 2's opening. Huge twist with Shephard dying and being revived right at the start. You're thrown right into a chaotic environment in a ship being ambushed by rogue mechs. The massively improved combat is shown off right off the bat, and you're introduced to the Illusive Man, an awesome character who will give you the main mission that will carry you throughout the game. I didn't play this series until a few years ago but going from ME1 to this game, I knew within the first 15 minutes it was gonna hit different.

When I read the video title I instantly thought of Mass Effect 2. I only recently bought the Legendary Edition and am playing through the trilogy for the first time ever, which is why the beginning of the second part stuck with me I guess. It‘s just such a major twist of events, and I‘m not only talking about Shepard dying. It‘s also that you are being rebuild by the mysterious and brutal „pro-human“ organization you were creeped out by in the first part of the series. Getting thrown into a confusing gun fight further adds to this being one of the wildest openings I‘ve ever witnessed.

I am playing some older games that I didn't had the chance to play when they first got out like the dead space franchise. Man, the opening of Dead Space 2 grabbed me by the balls. The hallucination, the man transforming to a necromorph right in front of you and then having to escape while you wear a straight jacket? Awesome!

For me, one of the craziest opening level so far is Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy. I wasn't prepared for that kind of story telling.

If doing another with older games, FFX is the one that immediately came to my mind. In fact, having never played it before - when I was a lot younger - I asked a friend if the whole game is a sports game. Furthermore, even after that opening, there are plenty of more weird "opening" parts, such as getting found by a group whom you cannot understand, all the way up to the first meeting with Yuna (yeah, I had zero spoilers, so I too assumed the summoner was a dude). The whole situation was weird, but especially the opening took the cake with Auron purposely letting you go after braving the entire Sin flood together... writing this makes me want to go back and re-watch the opening again...

I’m glad they included the original “Prey” as kind of a “bonus entry” because I remember when I played it when it came out I had no expectations whatsoever and it blew my freaking mind. I was like “ok I guess I’ll just rent this game, because I’ve played everything else” and it went from 0-100 quickly lol. I discovered the original BioShock the same way, and had the same experience lol. Just renting games that looked cool, but I didn’t know anything about and turned out to be classics.

Where is Rdr 2 opening??Especially when we first saw the graphics and the effects in the snow,it was one of the most visually-pleasing experience we had at the beginning of any game, apart from the great characters storyline, the enviroment etc.The game is just a masterpiece even its beginning and i believe it should be included on the list!

You can't make one of those lists without talking about the Danganronpa series, the whole game is just baffling moment after baffling moment, and the whole series are the biggest "it was all in your face since the beggining" and somehow no one manages to guess it.

*Balder from God of War 4?!* The beginning fight/introduction is absolutely adrenaline inducing badassery. How in the world is this nowhere on the list? “ I can’t feel anything. You can feel everything”. “I thought you could make me feel something”. Such a gripping start. When you think he’s just some punk at your door then he uppercuts you through your house and you get stuck inside a rock behind it. You’re like, Welp, that guys stronger than he looks…

MGS4 opening is still one of my favourites. The game starts with showing you different TV channels with different programs featuring some of the game's voice actors and then it changes into the game's actual opening, it was mind blowing when it first came out.

I adore #1. It's such a wonderful game, and one that seems to be discounted simply because of it's name. I love it because of it's ambiance, and the different ways you can play. The music never really left my head, and it's one of the games that I get a hankering to replay, now and then.
