I own property in a low income neighborhood. So many times, I just see things mushroom. A few people start something over a little disagreement and then others keep joining the crowd until somebody is shot or something. It's like a snowball rolling along, gathering more snow. Part of it is teaching people not to embrace crowd mentality, think individually and not react to everything else people are doing.

i live really close to both Woodside and QB (close to ravenswood and astoria houses too, within a 15 minute walk from all of them) Recently there was a broad daylight shooting in Woodside houses, 2 in custody, no one injured. happened at like 1:30. Cullen also had a small fire recently. Its still dangerous in terms of petty crimes, my buddy got his bike stolen there a few weeks ago, thankfully we got it back earlier today.

I didn't hear him say Rochdale village. Rochdale is rent controlled with a lot of people with city jobs and college degrees. However, it is about 10 minutes from Baisley Park houses, which was #1 in the video. Rich/ poor but close proximity.

@@tajn239 didn't say he said Rochdale.. He showed a picture of the neighborhood while talking about Red Fern as if he was insinuating that they were the same.. I've worked in Rochdale for a number of years so trust I know the demographic and types of people who live and work there

What's crazy is that Astoria itself is one of the nicest, most diverse and safest areas in all of Queens and also in NYC. Most parts of Astoria are incredible, filled with young professionals, college graduates, artists, freelancers, full time workers and families. Being a predominantly Greek neighborhood, Astoria is also home to a large Russian, Serbian, Italian, Albanian, Indian and Chinese population. Astoria is also extremely gentrified and has somewhat of a hipster population, although less than that of Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Bushwick and East Village, but still very fancy and crafty. I also love the abundance of movie nights, concerts, fitness facilities, night life, food options, open parks and scenery that Astoria has to offer. The rural feel adds an extra twist to Astoria. However, if you go past 21 Street (going towards the river of course), that's where all the projects are that you want to avoid and is known for its crime and gangs. That's way different from the rest of Astoria, day and night, and feels like the hood, which it is, especially near the ferry, that's the area you want to avoid. Not fun.

It's changed so much in the late '60s when white neighbors were secretly sent to Lefrack City. The up keep changed -- there were no more Lysol smelling hallways; no more pee-free halls & elevators; no more cops who knew the families; no more one-to-one fist fights; no more neighbors straightening you out as you remained respectful. To see QB change was hurtful, but I read things are a lot better now. I just wanted to share with you.🙂 *QB 41 Side of 12th Street '56 to '68
