As a radiography student, thank you for this clear summary of how to spot all these pathologies. Chest X-rays are hard to interpret. At least with extremity work it's usually just fractures and dislocations we need to spot.

True, on an AP there is a bigger distance from the heart to the images receptor therefore the heart looks enlarge due to magnification. The FFD (Focus to film distance) should also be 180cm. A Radiographer plays a big role in producing good quality x-rays! A radiographer should always indicate if the Chest x-rays was done PA or AP and Erect/Sitting or Supine.

Asthma is not diagnosed via chest X ray. There are a few different tests that can be done including spirometry - but a chest X ray would not tell you

First off, as a layperson, thanks for adding that firm disclaimer at the beginning. None of us out here in KZitem Land need to become Dr. KZitem. With that said, it’s very helpful to us as laypeople to have a grasp on what studies a radiologist must pass in order to get anywhere near a patient. And even with that said, there are probably still those who are merely mediocre at their jobs. As a lay patient, it’s helpful to have just a bit more sense if the practitioner discussing our X-Ray with us actually knows what they’re talking about or selling us a bill of goods. 👍

Is it possible for a doctor to misinterpret the appearance of lung cancer with tuberculosis?
@OllieBurtonMed
Жыл бұрын
It's possible for a doctor to misinterpret anything. It wouldn't be appropriate or wise for me to comment on any particular case. But obviously doctors are fallible like everyone else and will make mistakes occasionally.
