Change is hard for people to accept and I understand that loyal Subie owners might not like the new design, I'm focused on the changes made to the interior and frankly I'm very impressed with the updated design. Plus it now has heatedf nd ventilated seats and the new infotainment system. Subaru punches above its weight with seat design, fabric and leather, colors, textures, and comfort. When I look at Toyota interiors, I'm just shocked at how sterile their interiors look. Subaru works really hard at listening to their customers and it shows in this new Forester. Dependability, reliability, low cost of ownership, safety, etc., are baked into the Subaru brand and Subaru knows where it excels.

I just went with the 2024 Forester Touring and picking up soon. Primary considerations at my age is ease of access and exiting and I like the 8" infotainment screen with the knobs switches for the environmental controls. I also like the look of the 2024 over the 2025. Overall, looking forward to this new vehicle.

I'm debating a 2024 or 2025 upgrade from my ancient 2006. Having tested the larger screen on the 2024 Outback, I might prefer it to the smaller screen and buttons on the Forester. I never thought I'd feel that way but having it all in one place did seem less distracting to me.

We did too but to be honest, we couldn't wait for the '25. Our interest is in a hybrid and while we could have sought out the Honda CR-V, we love Subaru. This is our 3rd. A switch to permanently turn off the idiotic stop/start function would be a great upgrade.
@DennisDelorso

I added a permanent "kill" interface on the stop/start "feature" of my 2024 Touring. It was $30 and took less then 10 minutes to install as it is a simple plug-and-play easily attached to the current physical button on the dash. The 2025 will not be as easy because it is now integrated into the 11.6" touchscreen "upgrade." From my perspective, any upgrade that adds complication and distraction to the driving experience is no upgrade at all. Hence that was my decision to purchase the 2024. My mother has a 2023 Outback with the same 11.6" touchscreen the 2025 is getting and it is not intuitive plus it makes using the sunroof useless, even pulling the sunshade creates glare to the point the iPad size screen becomes absolutely worthless. Keep in mind the outback has a much smaller sunroof than the Forester.

I bought a 2023 Forester last year. I like that they haven't messed with the shape. I love all the glass. I disable the stop/start every time I drive. I really dislike the feature. I have also found this car to have some glitches. Unlocking the car always works great. I find that locking it takes a few tries. It is very annoying to have to keep at it for it to finally lock. The grooves in the seat catch dust and dirt very easily. I can't just brush the seat off, I have to get the vacuum each time. I'm sorry that I am missing out on the quieter drive. That has always been a weakness, in my opinion. But... overall, I love the Forester. I have had several.

My 23 forester doesn't have any problems locking. Only thing I'm not satisfied with is the steering assist when using the cruise control. Overall I do like changes, but changes to seats worry me based on my previous experience. One of reasons I bought Forester was seats. Before that I had 2 Opel Zafira vehicles (they were made when Opel was owned by GM, so basically GM vehicles): B generation and C generation. B was very comfortable, amazing seats. I had very long road trips in them, drove all over Europe, it was super comfortable. In C generation though, seats changed and car I got had AGR seats. They also advertised it as medically approved more comfortable seats, which is similar to marketing language used in 2025 Forester. In reality however, seats were horrible. At first it just seemed a bit off, month later I started getting back and butt pains after long drives, then eventually it turned into huge medical issue. Problem was in car seats: they put pressure on wrong spot, causing blood flow to stop. Replaced seats with regular non-AGR seats. It got a bit better, but issue remained. Then few months later I again couldn't drive for more than 5 minutes. After just over a year of that, got rid of Opel, bought Forester. Specifically looked for high trim with leather seats and electronic adjustments, so I could adjust it precisely. 2 months after purchasing Forester, health issues started to disappear. Now, 8k km and 4 months later, all health issues are fixed. Seats are very important. The fact that they are using similar marketing language mentioning medical professionals that helped develop seats, worry me. Opel used the same marketing for their AGR nightmare.

Current Forester owner. Thank you for evolution not revolution. Forester is a tool for me. A tool that works very well for my life - small child, dog, hunting, mountain roads. The reason why I bought my 2020 Forester: visibility, comfort, square usable trunk with vertical glass in the trunk, EyeSite, soft suspension, AWD, ground clearance, value for money. Good changes: better EyeSite, hybrid, cooled seats, low roof rail, surround cameras. The front looks good. Bad: I don't like that black plastic thing on the rear pillar. Please let me remove it :) Changes/additions I would like to see as a future customer: -- importance 5/5: hybrid based on the one in Prius but with the same AWD capabilities of current Forester -- importance 5/5: queter cabin. Although it is good in my 2020 F, I would happily pay more for additional sound isolation. -- importance 4/5: let me customise the trims more. Especially to remove features. I personally want Touring with Wilderness features. For example: I like all black mat plastic cladding and smaller wheels with taller tires, I hate gloss plastic. Please let me choose these details. Since I know it is possible, the lack of flexibility shows disrespect for my money. Especially since I will be a customer that updates from current gen Forester. -- importance 3/5:-- manual control of air con etc. importance 1/5: an option of split tail gate would be amazing and very handy for me :) -- importance 2/5: arm rest that moves forward. I am short and have elbow issues. For now I use a DIY fix.

I like the Outback for the AWD, decent mpg and good size fuel tank (4 gallons bigger than Rav4) but I can't stand all these safety features they are forcing on us. My car auto brakes regularly for no reason (cars parked on the side of the road, car ahead in different lane, road signs, etc). You can disable it (hopefully you remember before you enter car wash) but it comes back on every time you restart the engine. The reverse auto braking did permanently disable (I did after a raindrop on the sensor meant it took 5 minutes for me to be able to get out of my parking spot) and you can disable the lane assist (if I quickly switch lanes to avoid a car swerving into my lane, the last thing I want is to be jerked back into that car). I don't text and drive or drink and drive and the last thing I want is a car babysitting me. I will never buy a car with driver monitoring (is it going to slam on the brakes if I put sunglasses on?). I have also read articles that ask if the infrared light being shined in your eyes can do long term damage to your eye.

Thank you for your videos! They are very informative! I am a Subaru owner and currently have a 2018 Forester. I’m considering trading mine in on a 2023 or 2024 model because mine lacks things like Apple CarPlay, better headlights, and a number of other improvements. I really like the looks of the 2025 and I’m tempted to wait, but there are some good deals locally on the 2023 models that are left on the lot, my biggest worry about the 2025 is - I’m sure you hear this a lot - that big iPad type touchscreen that controls just about everything and many functions require multiple levels of menus… If I decide to wait until the 2025 model, I’m going to give it at least a couple of years for the new model change to settle down because typically there are bugs when they roll out a new model… I don’t want to be the guinea pig! Or my other option is go ahead and trade mine on a 2023 or 2024 and drive that until several years down the road when those bugs will be worked out, and hopefully a hybrid will be available… out of curiosity, yesterday I drove a 2024 Mazda, CX-5 because they have 0% interest financing, which is so rare these days and such a great deal but… Subaru has spoiled me because the visibility, driving position, overall feel of the CX-5 just didn’t win me over… I’m afraid I’m married to Subarus now lol! I considered looking at the CRV hybrid, but they are kind of scarce in my area, high sticker price and very little wiggle room on price. … What to do, what to do? Trade now or wait several years?

The large 11.6 display has been out since the 2020 Outback so Subaru has had time to work out the kinks. Many of my customers have shared that it's much easier to use than they originally anticipated. I would encourage you to sit in a new Subaru with the 11.6" display to see how it works for yourself. If after that you find that it's not for you, I'd go for the 2023/24 Forester. The other question you'll need to answer for yourself is how long do you want to go without upgrading? The new 2025 Subaru looks blank and yes it looks a bit like a FORD in front. I do not like the touch screen. People are going to grab up the 2023 and 2024 Foresters.

it seems that Subaru added a third camera behind the mirror on the 2024's (mid-year) I have seen them on a dealer's lot. My outback Early 2024 model has two newer 2024 has three cameras. Salesmen can only explain it as a"build By" and did not know what it does. Can you help me ???

I am now on my fifth Subaru and have been very happy with all of them. I like the evolution rather then revolution. I also beliece the start stop function, which can be annoyins is a manadate by Government for Gas consumtion

I think i'm pretty happy with my 2023 Premium Forester (1 month in!), I'm enjoying all of its features and the only feature in the 2025 that I am slightly jealous of is the wireless apple carplay. You may have covered this in a previous video but do you have any recommendations on where to mount a dashcam?

You mostly point out trivial styling/aerodynamic differences and the stupid loss of the air-con dials. What I really want to know about is the new drivetrains - hopefully the 2.4T in the return of the Forester XT and a new proper hybrid system to match or surpass the performance and efficiency of Toyota Synergy Drive (assisted mechanical), Honda E:HEV (part electric drive/part assisted mechanical) and Nissan E-Power (full electric drive).

My 2021 Forester facial recognition is very annoying and constantly beeps at me. Hopefully they have improved the facial recognition in the 2025. Thanks for all the great videos Alex. These are very helpful when learning about the vehicles quirky and features We are a family with 4 Subies.

Possible correction here. I believe the wireless charger is standard on all models of the new Forester. I think it is standard on all models of the new crosstrek (and maybe Imprezza) too.

As long as I can turn off the "feature" that runs the car off when I'm at a complete stop, everything thing else is a little much, but over all it looks great.

Yes, it can still be turned off. They also revised it so it's not as loud and reduced the vibrations when it starts back up.

Love your tutorials, Alex. Do you know if the Legacy will continue for 2025? Will there be a redesign? Also, do any current Legacies have the 3-camera eyesight? Thank you

Thank you! 😊 Not sure about the 2025 Legacy but I suspect the Outback will see a re-design, which usually means the Legacy will get a re-design also. The current 2023/24 Legacy in the Touring XT trim have the 3-camera eyesight.

You know what I'd like to see? Some ridges around the buttons or a hinged cover on the key fob so I can bend down to tie my shoes without triggering a random response from the car! Sure, I could wear looser pants, but at 75, I'm too old to give up on my jeans.

I am looking forward for the 25 forester but why they don’t bring more speed to this car. They took away the turbo and never returned it. 168 horsepower is too dam slow. Look at the Rogue it has 200 horsepower and it is turbo I want that on this forester

new model year prices usually increase by $300-$500 when no changes are made. Because this one has more changes, I imagine it will increase by more than that (Maybe as much as $1000-$1500 more). This is just my guess though. I'll post about pricing info as soon as we have it.

You didn't mention automatic rear braking . I've been waiting a year for this to become a standard feature but it didn't seem to be made one. Also, why didn't they make an easy way to lock and unlock the car without an electronic fob... For divers, runners, swimmers, beach, etc? What are the options to lock the car when someone can't keep the key on themselves? And how soon before the moonroof leaks when the car is parked outside in the Sunshine State? Please respond.. These have been holding up my purchase. When are the cars available for sale?

So my 21 Crosstrek has a recall on the inhibitor switch so the dealer gave me a 2024 Crosstrek limited edition today to drive , it looks like to me it sits higher than my 21 limited. Also they got rid of the hand brake too. I did notice the It sounds more quite than mine is. But the price is more too I paid 30k for mine now they r 35k .

I sure hope they fix the bluetooth in the entertainment system when playing music from any app from an iPhone. The bluetooth from an Apple watch linked to your iPhone interferes with it, making the music skip, jump, slow down and speed up. Its unusable. It’s a long standing problem which they know about but seem to be incapable of fixing. Doesn’t happen with any other car I’ve driven.
