List suggestion: Top 10 games that advanced gaming technology (and how) Or: top 10 games that tried to advance gaming technology (and failed) I know for a fact that there are some really interesting advances that would surprise people. For example, the original 3D FPS games were actually 2D games that used some clever design to create the illusion of a 3D world, complete with stairs, elevators, and multiple floors. It sounds a lot less impressive than it actually is.

So, I've got one for you: there is this quest series in Runescape that is basically based on Lovecraft's work (think coastal town taken over and turned into fish-people) and the slugs that control people are part of a hivemind controlled by a being called Mother Mallum. This thing can control your mind once you get close, that's how powerful she is. And you're building up to a confrontation with this entity. She was first mentioned in 2002 and the climax was in 2011: that is 9 years of build-up. The set-up was as such that you were not even sure what you will find or if it can even be killed. And in the end, you defeat this menacing foe by just dropping a stone pillar on it and squishing it like a bug... Biggest anti-climax I have ever experienced :')

Hey Jules! Not sure if you'll ever read this but fun fact about that number 4 entry! Volgun chants Kuwabara to both not be struck by lightning as well as ward off bad luck (particularly from 'vengeful spirits'). Regardless, it's something he feels he MUST say EVERY time he enters or exits a room / space. In that scene in particular, he gets caught up in the excitement, and forgoes saying it. Here's the kicker! IN-GAME, if you press the button to watch the cutscene through an alternative lens, you can see the vengeful spirit of 'The Sorrow', a sudo-enemy boss from earlier in the game, touch Volgun, causing the lightning to strike him. Bad Luck Achieved ;D

If you really want a fight from Final Fantasy 15 that took forever to beat, face Omega. Omega spawns in Insomnia after beating the game at level 119. 99% resistance to everything except lightning. That fight at level 117 with almost everything mentioned earlier and the armiger unleashed still took me over an hour. For me the Adamantoise at level 101 took about 30 minutes. Even then I know of several ways I could have done better to kill faster (eat a meal that guarantees critical hits, use limit breaker spells, give your retainers the limit breaker skill, have the airdance skill).

How about: Top 10 inconsistencies in much loved video game franchises? A recent example (with spoilers to boot, so I'll leave some space).... ...in the new Paper Mario: The Origami King game, for some time Mario and new friend Olivia travel alongside a Bob-omb (whom Olivia affectionately refers to as "Bobby"). But tragically, he sacrifices himself to save Olivia by doing what a Bob-omb does - blowing himself up. This destroys a boulder that Olivia was trapped under, and that was the last we saw of dear Bobby. Now, backtrack to the original Paper Mario game, and you'll recall that there was a pink Bob-omb party member called "Bombette". She was able to explode herself in battle, and outside of battle to help Mario pass certain barriers. And after she exploded, she'd be just fine. No explanation has ever been given. Anyway, that's just one example of inconsistency in an otherwise much-loved franchise.

Redirects your escape plane to Antarctica where more horrors awaits you, including his own father that was turned into a monster by Alfred and Alexia. In Code Veronica, Alfred is shot by the world’s whiniest teenager Steve Burnside, thrown over a railing, falls down a deep pit, and only dies from his wounds after releasing Alexia from cryogenic stasis. In Darkside Chronicles, which retells RE2 and REC:V, he releases Alexia from cryostasis without having fatal injuries, but Alexia strangles him to death because he was late in awakening her.

On a very similar note to this list, how about 10 villains so incompetent you wonder how they were even a threat in the first place? I’d say Cortex in most crash games, aside from the first one it’s always either his mask or his minions who do all the work

Only one thing wrong with Snatcher being on the list. He didn't die. He was defeated, but survived the fight.

I would add the fight against the Emperor in A Boy and his Blob 2: Trouble on Blobolonia. All you have to do is hit the Emperor with a jar of vitamins, lethal to him, which he keeps stored in his room, over his head, and you win.

Honestly kinda surprised the antagonist of Fable II didn't make it to the list. If you want to know why, just go try and listen to his monologue.
