Christianity has made me feel more fear and sadness than anything else. When I was a kid I had so many questions and I was always shut down with Jesus is the only way or don’t think those things or god works in mysterious ways... it never made sense and I felt scared to even have a thought that went against god or Jesus because I’d go to hell. I ended up reading the New Testament and right off the bat it tells you that nobody is worthy of heaven. Not one single human beings is worthy of heaven... isn’t that just a strange statement? God is a loving and merciful god but we should fear him. It made me feel so unworthy, so small and so UNLOVED. I came here as this human being not knowing anything other than the day I was born and everything in between until the day I die and yet I’m supposed to believe in this book that was written years after Jesus himself died, NOT by Jesus himself. That doesn’t make any sense? Flawed humans after Jesus died made this book and it was changed over years and years that it was written. How can I believe in this supposedly loving and powerful god that can’t let me know him himself what I need to do to be worthy of heaven. Why just I go my whole life trying so hard to follow these rules despite being created flawed? It’s like we were made to be slaves to worship. To not have individuality and to not ever feel worthy or understand. Writing these thoughts make me feel emotional and it’s honestly tiring.

How much of the NT did you read? We do not have to do anything to be worthy; just understand that Jesus took all our unworthiness to the cross. paid the penalty for it all, and exchanged it for his righteousness. It is this righteousness that God sees when He looks at us. There are no rules that you need to follow other than just accept and believe. Nothing to fear, no need to be sad. (Romans 8:1-4)

The people that don’t care what your religion is are good people they believe that you should not care what other peoples religions are. Which everybody should do, You can be Athiest, Baptist, Muslim, Hindu, ect. People should not be shamed if they don’t believe in what you believe. The point I’m making here is that we should not discriminate other people for what they believe in. I’m atheist and I support ppl who believe in God, Jesus, Allah, ext An I’m often discriminated for not believeing in what others believe in. This is why I support others so the don’t feel the way I do. So please Don’t discriminate.✡️✝️☪️🕉️🛐🪯🕎❤

I questioned the bible and everything about religion. When i turned 16 i became an agnostic but when i turned 20, i saw that evidence for ANY god or goddess didnt hold any water. So i am now an atheist. My family knows, but doesnt care (except for one aunt. She's evil anyways). Im 25 now and i always deal with theists who get angered and try to make me repent. But that's also a reason why i left religion. Hypocrisy. People claim to be loving and tolerant, but the moment you dont conform to their beliefs, they will hate you.

Mark, our stories are similar although I was raised southern Baptist, I was baptized at 9 (but it was for my grandmother rather than myself) but never followed through on anything. Then out of the blue I went through a 2 year period when I was about 25 where I fully whole heartedly believed and was a "true Christian." But, then my addiction picked back up and I derailed. After I got clean for good I became an atheist. My family thinks because of this it must mean I'm a Satanist. They actually freaked out and thought I was going crazy. The internet has been a saving grace (pun intended) for me in all of this. I don't feel alone anymore and am much more educated on the topic and now know my 2 year period was just the desire to believe in something. Ya know? :)

Higgs Boson god doesn’t send people to hell for a couple reasons. First there is no literal hell based on the Bible (yes indoctrinated atheists and indoctrinated theists get this completely wrong), it is figurative. Second god doesn’t send you to the figurative hell, your actions do. If you were a horrible person, when you die that is all people will remember which means the memory others have of you throughout time will always be horrible - nothing you can do about it. That is your figurative eternal hell.

I'm 14 and I'm an Atheist/possible Agnostic. I was 11 when I first started questioning religion, especially Christianity. And I have 3 reasons why I do not believe in religion. As I spent more time getting educated on religion, I realized that the Christian Bible made no sense to me. I didn't agree on what it said about women and children and authority and how we should behave. That was the first time I realized that I didn't believe in what the Bible was preaching. The second reason is because if God or whatever deity you choose to believe in is really there, why would they let people suffer? I know life isn't amazing and it can't always be easy, but why should rape or abuse or murder exist in a world where a God is looking over us and wants the best for us? When my uncle passed away in 2015 and my teacher was brutally kidnapped and murdered, everyone told me that they died because God needed them up in Heaven to be one of his Angels. Why should I have to suffer in my life, one that I didn't even ask for, to be some angel?! My final reason is that if God truly existed and loved me, he would have stopped my Dad from emotionally abusing me a long time ago. My life is pure shit, and I am told that if I pray and believe in his spirit, everything will fine. They say it takes time, but what if it never goes away? It's been 7 years and I'm still stuck in this situation. I spend my days counting down till they day I'm 18 and can drive away from my life here. So tell me, if you believe in a God, wouldn't he have helped me by now?

If you were to disprove Christians and sink are religion and frankly turn me atheist all you would have to do is find proof that Jesus did not rise from the dead atheist have tried to find evidence that Jesus really did not rise from the dead for centuries here is what they came up with 1 apostles stole the body The only problem with this claim is the apostles and there followers based on historical evidence died horrible deaths and not once did they say that Jesus did not rise from the dead not once did they say that Jesus was not God and not once did they take back there loyalty tords Jesus think about it would you die for something you knew was a lie and even more evidence after his death three days later based on historical evidence 500 people claimed to have seen Jesus alive 2. the romans stole the body The romans killed him why would they want to make it look like Jesus rose from the dead does not make sense 3. the 500 people that saw Jesus hallucinated A phycologist once said that if 500 people had seen the same hallucination it would be a bigger miracle then the resurrection itself that pretty much throws that theory out the window 4. Jesus was not dead Frankly people who say this haven’t studied the romans they were professional killers they would scourge you 40 times with a whip that had nails attached to it and the nails would go in to your body and literally break your back then they would nail you to the cross put you up right then when you are up right the nails would push on a nerve that effects your lungs so you would have to push up for air and eventually would kill you fun fact not once did any one survive in Rome from a crucification not only that the romans stuck a spear in Jesus’s diaphragm and water came out witch proves he was dead 5 Jesus had a twin brother. This is the funniest one first of all you would have the problem with the disciples claiming to see holes in his hands then you would have the problem with how stupid you think the disciples are they have just spent 3 years of there life with Jesus you think they might notice something funny about this supposed twin Their is much more evidence this is just the basics if you need more evidence read the case for Christ the truth is simply disprove the resurrection you have disproven Christians and turned me atheist that is all you have to do people would not have died for a lie 500 people would not have had the same hallucinations and Jesus did not have a twin brother all I’m am saying is you need to look at the facts and try to disprove the resurrection it’s simply I’m am challenging all the atheist to do this simply task the truth is powerful Sincerely brother jonah

Hi, Agnosticator! Love this video. I recently finally tipped my own Dad into becoming an atheist himself. I will send him this. Very simple and well explained for a newcomer into the world of free-thinking like my Dad. Quick question, just out of pure curiosity. You say you are an atheist, yet your online name (for lack of a better expression) is the “agnosticator”. Atheist or agnostic then are you? I am a complete atheist myself, and I enjoy the debate there is between friends of mine and people out on the web as far as them looking to try and find out if one position is better than the other. I like being an atheist. I like being poignant about my stances on all issues. But I’m OK with people who identify as agnostic rather than atheist, and respect their position, all while expecting they respect mine. Which we all normally do anyways. So, anyways, question posted just out of pure curiosity. Cheers! Looking forwards to watching more videos by you.

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate that you encourage us also to comment including why we believe in God. For a lot of your 10 reasons I actually have a similar or at least related reason for being a Christian. So since you invited me, I'll share my 10 related reasons for why I'm a Christian. 1. I regularly have personal experiences with God. I feel him regularly, sometimes when reading the Bible or through prayer, or sometimes through other people or at other moments. 2. Being a Christian shifts my focus to this life. I'm able to be in the moment and not worried about the future, knowing that I'm loved and that I have been given the power to love and help others right now where I'm at. Not only that I know, that my actions right now have eternal value, so they are imbued with so much meaning. 3. Christianity allows me to be more honest and authentic. I know that I am loved by God, the one who created me and everything else. While some people may not accept me for my doubts, that's not the way God works. And am part of a great community of fellow Christians that invites the sharing of doubts. Thomas in the Bible is invited to share his doubts and is listened to, and God responds. The Psalms is an example in the Bible where authenticity and exposing ourselves fully is shown as an invited and beautiful thing. Doubt is rewarded by God for it's honesty. 4. Christianity allows me to see the true beauty in the natural world. As God is the source of all good things, exploring the natural world is a good thing. God has given us intelligence and curiosity, and has put us in a complex but knowable world. This includes the complexities of biology and how he has set it in motion to create and sustain our bodies. He gave us the Bible to understand why he created us, but he gave us the tools of science so that we can explore for ourselves the beauty of how things work. 5. I would much rather accept an uncomfortable truth than believe a comfortable lie. Yes ultimately God has sovereign control of our lives, and sometimes we would rather like to feel as though we have real power over our ultimate destinies, when we realize that God is love and actually knows and wants what is better for ourselves than anything we could possibly dream up, we can start to want to put our trust in him and enjoy true peace. 6. I no longer as a Christian have to be ashamed of being human. I know that I was created in the image of God, the ultimate source of good. God doesn't want us to live lives of shame. Satan the liar tells us that we are bad and not good enough, but God says otherwise. He says that he created us just as we are and loves us and that there is nothing that can separate us from his love. 7. I'm actually OK with not having all of the answers. Naturalists often think that through science and personal investigation we can and will eventually come to know everything that is worth knowing, in a sense turning ourselves into Gods. God invites us into being OK with not knowing or being able to know everything. There can be beauty in the mystery and there can be a sense of peace in realizing we can take steps forward in trust without having everything figured out, and we will continue to learn and grow as we go. 8. I can focus on human potential rather than human weakness. God says that he created all people in his image, with the capacity for love and to do great thing. Each person, no matter who they are, has also been given special talents. God moves our eyes from our weakness to our strength, not to wallow in our failures but to see our weakness as the means to becoming strong and doing great things, glorious things. The whole planet has been entrusted to us as stewards, and we have confidence that our good work taking care of the planet will result someday in a new, redeemed earth. 9. I see evidence for a theistic God. Other than my direct personal experiences of God, I also am persuaded that the existence of God is the best explanation for a lot of things such as the existence of the physical universe, the existence of my own consciousness, and the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. 10. Belief is the natural result of persuasive evidence. The preponderance of evidence leads me to be a Christian. I would also be interested in you clarifying some things you mentioned earlier. Near the beginning of the video you mentioned some examples of some people made up in their head for why you are an atheist, but that you said are not real reasons. However, to me it seems that some things you mentioned later do seem to fit in with one of those reasons. For instance, one of the reasons you quoted was “Is it because of your bad experiences with church?”. Later however you say that expressing your doubts about things to fellow christians was met with scorn as a key point of one of your reasons. Isn’t this an example of a bad experience with church? Another one of the reasons you quoted was, “Do you hate God?”. Some of your later reasons seem to indicate, if not a hate for God, at least a dislike for him. Here are some examples. 1. You state there is a possibility that either there is no God or there is a God and he has chosen not to reveal himself to you, and you chose the former because if it’s the latter, that would not be a God you’d want to worship. 2 .You felt like being a Christian kept you from pursuing your dreams, presumably because you feel like God does not want you to pursue those dreams that that’s something you didn’t like about him. 3. You perceive God as scorning doubters. 4. You believe God dissuades you from being curious about natural phenomenon. 5. You believe that God thinks you are bad and that makes you feel bad. 6. You don’t like what you perceive to be God’s commands. These things are less in the category of reasons for believing that God doesn't exist, but more in the category of just not liking God as you understand him to be. I think it might be helpful to consider that, just so you understand your own reasons better. I’d be curious to know what you think.

That view is incoherent. Beliefs are propositional attitudes, "I _don't_ believe p" is as much of an attitude toward proposition as is, "I _do_ believe p," and no such attitude can arise until *after* the subject has become aware of p. If one argues that any time that a belief in the existence of at least one deity is absent, whether the necessary conditions for the formation of belief have been met or not, this is "nonbelief," and, by extension, the subject is an atheist, by default, which is what implicit atheism indicates, and then apply the principle or reductio ad absurdem to this idea, it leads to all sorts of unfortunate conclusions. Babies, who are atheists, by default, according to this schema due to having no-god belief, are also ageist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, racist bigots, too, because they have no belief in equality, either (nevermind the fact that they aren't capable explicitly holding any such stance). Babies are also authoritarian because they don't believe in freedom. Babies are solopsists because they don't believe that anything can be known beyond themselves. Babies are anarchists because they don't believe in rules, and nihilists because they don't believe life has any meaning. To the person who objects to this, I would ask: on what basis do you make such an objection? You've already arbitrarily assigned an attitude to babies regarding the proposed existence of a deity based solely on a "lack" of belief despite such belief being impossible. Why should I not do the same? This is what happens when you try to subsume a population of "innocents" into a set in this manner. This is what happens when one tries to argue that "nonbelief" is the default position. It's incoherent. The "default position" is *no* position at all. It is the pristine nescience of the proposition that Dr. Graham Oppy calls "innocence.*

I think I have been an atheist my whole life but I probably didn't make it known until I was in my early teens. I did read the Bible as a teen but have not since that time. I now regard doing so as time I can't get back and, for the record, I have never had a personal "event" with God, good or bad. Because I never really identified as a theist I did not have the awful experiences I know many people go through breaking away from religion. My parents were not religious in any particular way so I didn't get the blow back others may have. I do think that I did began to appreciate nature more as a result and have spent a lot of time visiting National Parks; I'm up to 27 parks now🙂. I think you have a great attitude about your atheism and a disarming, healthy way of presenting it. The current state of affairs regarding religion and it's connection to politics is becoming worrisome to the point that there is potential for violence. Many of the members of extremist groups identify as born again Christians with the KKK an obvious example. I think that religion will eventually all but disappear from society but we are nowhere near that point yet. I hope we can get back to the healthy gap between church and state for our own good.

1) While it is true that not every religion can be right, but they can all be wrong, to conclude from this that no deity of any kind exists anywhere is non-sequitur. The reasons you give are a very good explanation for why one should reject religion and religious dogmatism. They do not, on the other hand, provide an adequate framework for atheism in general, which necessarily includes all interpretations of the divine. 2) An "absence" of belief in a proposition as distinct from belief in its negation is intrinsically incoherent; and things like the Courtroom Analogy and the Gumball Analogy are abject failures at demonstrating otherwise. 3) As beliefs are propositional attitudes, and "I _don't_ believe p" is as much of an attitude toward a proposition as, "I _do_ believe p," it *can't* logically be the default position. The _actual_ default position is *no* position at all. It's the pristine nescience of the proposition, or what Dr. Graham Oppy calls "innocence."

How much time do you spend worries about the other equivalents of hell? Just think about that. Christians, and other religions, use fear to keep people in their cult to control the masses, you just have to look at the bigger picture.

I don’t respect religions - particularly the abrahamic religions- Judaism, Christianity or Islam - Slavery, women as property, holy war (jihad, crusades), bigotry etc. Hinduism has some seriously messed up aspects too - the whole caste system and Sati (which I hope the later is no longer practiced). These ancient ideas have nothing to offer our world. Once you start studying world history as an adult, and you uncover the horrible things done in the name of religion, you’ll understand why. I visited the Vatican and was repulsed by the accumulated wealth juxtaposed to the beggars and street merchants hanging on by a thread outside. It was the same experience visiting mosques in Instanbul. Christopher Hitchens said, “If you want to get good people to do wicked things, you need religion.” Read widely, ask even wider questions.

I am curious if these ten reasons have changed in any way. I am sure these were not exhaustive as far as your world view is concerned but it would be interesting to know if arguments from productive (or nonproductive ) conversations through your KZitem channel has changed this baseline. There are compelling and reasoned arguments in mathematics, philosophy, physics or science in general to some or all questions asked. Such discussions in the comments section are rarely profitable but if that is the best place to converse I am game. First distinction that is relevant is between normative and descriptive aspects of religion or Christianity in specific. Your first reason was about personal experience that would confirm Gods activity in your life as a Christian. The descriptive aspect (not how Christian should behave but how they in fact do behave) is one of a mix bag. Some believe that the Holy Spirit is active and manifested in your life moment to moment in supernatural ways (charismatic churches are like this) while others look at there is no guarantee of an outwardly manifestation (like a Moses with the burning of the bush) but there might be more subtle touches of God that are harder to notice. The normative part of Christian in specific is that a Christian can be a Christian with or without the burning bush. In other words that does not logically follow that God, or at least the God of Christianity, does not exist just because your experience is lacking. Before this gets too long I would like to invite you to do some research in the history and philosophy of science. Your caricature of religion as anti science is not supported in history. That doesn’t mean it was all happy days but many thinkers have studied the natural world in order to understand what God did in making the world. The logic and rules that it is built on. Those who argue fine tuning arguments illustrate this idea. I think you are not pushing rhetoric but actually investigating and have good reasons for what you belief. I stumbled on your page because I am constantly listening to those who are atheist and agnostic so I can make sure I am always looking for the truth. I only ask you to consider the reasoned answers that exist from Christian who are scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers to your ten questions, or whatever current reasons you have, and see if the evidence is sufficient to change your world view or not. Always seek the truth. “And what kind of man am I?” Plato Gorgias 458a

When I look back at the reasons for leaving Christianity, I know doubt share many of the same reasons as others. The biggest reason though, is that I got caught up in churches that were more concerned about having the correct doctrines than actually doing the things that Jesus instructed his followers to do, primarily helping those who are less fortunate. If I were to gave gotten involved with a church like that, who knows, maybe I’d still be a christian today.

There are many reasons that we shouldn't believe in god, however i think that the 1st reason and most highlighted reason should be the fact that theism has not met its burden of proof. We need a real tangible reason to be logical in thinking something to be true, and there is no good reason anywhere so far that is good enough to authorize belief in god for us. Most other reasons have many, although not actually defeating, arguments against them like not getting your prayers answered etc. People will cling to the easily believed false rebuts to your arguments unless you just go with the burden of proof, no believer can give you evidence for god or even the effectiveness of religion that cant be reached with atheism/secularism.

Logical thinking comes from the word logos, because Christianity we have made progress in science and culture everyway, and there are so much proof of Jesus Christ that he lived and was truly a son of God. If you won't find good evidence you aren't looking enough. In today's world sometimes it's hard but science thankfully is proving that God is behind all this. This is something that cannot be engineered, as it depends on God's sovereign will. He reveals himself at a time of his choosing. In my case I rejected Christianity until my spiritual search unexpectedly landed on Jesus at the age of 30. 2) Jesus said:" I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." It is all about living life to the full here and now. 3) Jesus did not condemn Thomas for doubting , he encouraged him to pursue his doubt. The upshot was the Thomas was the first person to recognise and declare Christ's divinity. 4) Christianity enhances your appreciation of the natural world (I speak from the perspective of a professional biologist). There is nothing better than walking in the countryside and thanking God for the glorious, self-sustaining miracle that surrounds us. 5) Death is an "uncomfortable truth", but our purpose as living beings is to live the life we have to the full, to stare death in the face and say "you are not going to win". 6) The death of Jesus on the cross sets us free from shame, guilt and condemnation (Romans 8:1-4). In the words of the hymn writer Charles Wesley, "I woke, the dungeon flamed with light, my chains fell off, my heart was free". 7)No one has all the answers. There are plenty of unanswered questions in the Bible. This is not a reason for believing or disbelieving. Searching for the answers to questions is why God gave us brains. 8)Throughout the centuries Christians have been inspired and motivated by their faith to make the world a better place. Take the abolition of the slave trade as one example. Also organisations such as Christians against poverty" and Christian Aid. 9) Fair point, but I refer you back to point1. When you know God, you see Him everywhere. For those who cannot yet see it, Jesus said: blessed are those who cannot see and yet believe". 10) I'll give you this one. Atheism is the default position. So, I'll give you 1-10 . or 3/10 at the most. Not enough to convert me to atheism, I'm afraid.

The bible literally promotes slavery…
@ChrisSmith-xh9wb
2 жыл бұрын
@@josecastro7436 That is not strictly true. Most of it was written at a time when slavery was a widespread and accepted feature of societies across the world ( a situation that only began to change when Christians inspired by their faith, such as Wilberforce, began to campaign against it). The OT laws were aimed at making slave owners accountable for any harm they inflicted in their slaves (Exodus 21:26.27) and stated that any slave who left his owner because of ill treatment should be granted his freedom ( Deut 23:1-a ruling that carried over to the NT- See Philemon). Paul in the NT encourages slaves to seek their freedom (1 Cor 7:21) and tells his readers to avoid becoming slaves(1 Cor 7:23). . His advice that slaves should obey their masters (Eph6:5-6) was just a special case of the Christian injunction to "turn the other cheek" and followed by a command that owners should not threaten their slaves (Eph 6:9). He also condemned the slave trade (1 Tim 1:10), and it was this that inspired the abolitionists and those Christians who are still campaigning against the continuing slave trade today.

You seem like a sweet honest Guy. Flaws in his reasoning but c'mon we all have flaws in our reasoning. I'll just respond with a bit of a clarification on the position of religion on a few of your points. 1. Questioning is OK. I am sorry that the people in your faith always ignored your questions and said "You just need to believe more." what a bunch of crock. There are some bible stories about how lack of belief got people into trouble. But there are quite a few where the individuals in the story questioned God to his face and were rewarded. 2. Living for this life IS really important. This is common with atheists that they get the impression that with all the focus on what happens the "afterlife" that what we do now isn't important. This is also common with faiths that are more into control than understanding. A good Christian would agree that you need to focus on what your doing in this life. I think the difference is that a christan would say your life is to be lived in service of others and like you said atheism allows you to focus on you and your dreams. 3. "I rather accept an inconvenient truth than a comfortable lie" A true Christian lives a very uncomfortable truth, That their life matters immensely and all the decisions they make not only have local consequences but universal. 4. Not all Christian religions believe that the bible says everything about everything and that all the answers are in it. Some realize that the Bible was written by humans for humans and then put together by humans.

For such a young person, you have a maturity and perception beyond you're years , if only there were more free thinking youngsters like you . I became an atheist only within the last 15 years , I'm today age 63,so as you can see , most of my life I've lived with what I thought was the sincere belief that Jesus Christ was the son of god who died on a cross , to give me the change of an eternal blissful existence with my creator god.

1. Just because you haven't 'felt' anything, that doesn't exclude the existence of a God. 2. Jesus teaches to love the people around us, because through them we are truly loving God, so trying to make the world a better place is according to the teachings of Jesus. 3. Just because some christians are really not open minded that doesnt mean anything. Jesus said to doubt, when he warned of false prophets, he never excluded himself to be the object of doubt. And Jesus said to Thomas to see for himself that He resurrected, to touch His wounds and look for the evidence that Jesus really came back from the dead. The parable of the sower teached by Jesus also proves my point. 4. Wow this sand castle is so cool! Bet the one who made is really skilled in making sand castles. You can appreciate the creation itself, and God at the same time just like you appreciate a painting, and the painter. I avoid answering the rest of the statements because there is really no bone to pick

If someone really wants to understand atheism, read a couple best sellers like "How Religion Poisons Everything" by Christopher Hitchens or The End of Faith by Sam Harris or How Christianity Made Me Talk Like an Idiot by Seth Andrews or books by Dan Barker.....there are many good books that will set you in stone with the Atheistic Understanding and set you free from the lies of religion.

You are so much like me . I used to be a Christian and got fed up with the hyper churches. Also I found mistakes in the Bible contradictions. Apparently the earth is flat and cannot be measured. God said so. If we can measure the earth then god will wash his hands off of Israel. No more to do with them. It's all a load of ballocks. Lol. So thank you for sharing.

1. “I’ve never had a personal experience with God.” And I’ve never met the president, but I’m pretty sure he exists. 2. “Being an atheist shifts my focus to this life.” That is not a reason to become an atheist, that is a perception change which you only feel is of benefit to you after the fact. 3. “Atheism allows me to be more honest about my doubts.” You’ve always been free to do that. Most of Christianity deals with doubts. If people met you with genuine scorn you needed to find another church. 4. “Atheism allows me to see the true beauty in the natural world.” Like #2 this is a perception change which you only feel is of benefit to you after the fact. It also comes across as if you cannot fully appreciate a piece of art if you’re aware that an artist created it. 5. “I’d rather accept an uncomfortable truth than a comfortable lie.” This has nothing to do with atheism and could very easily be turned back around on atheism. Death is not an uncomfortable idea, at least not for me. And if it’s not an uncomfortable idea for me then it’s not an uncomfortable idea for countless others. The idea of living forever is uncomfortable. The show “the good place” covers this really well. 6. “I no longer have to be ashamed of being human.” Unless of course you were fully convinced that God and heaven existed but someone said “If you just stop believing you won’t feel shame”, then this is once again, not a reason to become an atheist but a perception change that you only think is beneficial once you are already an atheist. 7. “I’m actually ok with not having all the answers.” I feel like a broken record, but once again this isn’t a reason to become an atheist. Also most if not all Christian denominations accept that there are unknowable parts of God and the nature of reality. Catholicism makes these “mysteries” a core part of their religious practice and you’re supposed to remind yourself of them daily. 8. “I can focus on human potential rather than human weakness.” Not only is this not a reason to become an atheist, Christians consistently bring out the best of humanity. Compare a cathedral in Italy to a block apartment building in soviet Russia. That is the most stark example I could give of religion’s influence over the human mind, vs its lack. 9. “I don’t see evidence for a theistic God.” There is evidence. I don’t really have anything else to say to that. If you don’t see it you’re not really looking or you’re so cynical as to make the presentation of evidence pointless. 10. “Unbelief is the default position, the burden of proof is always on the person making a positive claim.” This isn’t always true, this is an atheist myth that is used by atheists to avoid doing any thinking. Additionally human history would show that unbelief isn’t the default position, as every group of people has had some kind of belief in a higher power. But I’ll grant you that you’re right for the sake of argument. This “unbelief” would only actually exist if a person had never been told about any religion. The moment you’re told about the concept of a higher power you are given a choice. You can either choose to accept the concept, or reject it. But you can never return to your original state of unbelief. And in your case you believed, so choosing to reject belief requires justification. In all, this list was really disappointing. If these are genuinely the reasons you abandoned your faith, it seems like you did so for very arbitrary and selfish reasons. Only two of these points can actually be said to be relevant to faith. I'm sorry you lost your faith, and I hope you regain it some day because you're young and I've seen what happens to atheists as they age and it's not pretty. If you really want to know the truth, you should try praying. If there is no God then there's no harm in praying, but if there is and you pray earnestly you stand a good chance of finding your faith again.

I've never commented on a youtube video before, but there have been many times in my life I've felt very close to God. I can see you've established a bedrock of seemingly logical reasons to support your beliefs, but I wish I could spend an entire day with you sharing mine. And I don't mean that in any weird way. I'm just overwhelmed by a preponderance of evidence that supports my faith in God. I could spend all day everyday speaking on it, but only said 1 say bcus asking more of ur time than that seemed excessive. But obviously you've reflected upon and established your beliefs over a period of time, so realistically I believed it would take more than a quick chat or comment to persuade you otherwise.

for me its blaming satan for everything we do ,sure maybe satan did do horrible things who freaking knows but are we sure all these sins "we" commit daily aren't really our doing...is everything really satan's temptation or are we afraid to believe we might be just as evil and that we are running away from accountability saying satan said i should do it...and why are we okay with someone dying for us is that even fair...

Sin, definitionally, is a trespass against theistic law. Without a belief in a god, there is no belief in sin. And belief in evil spirits, such as Satan, are even more ridiculous. Many of us have put such beliefs where they belong, in the trash bin of foolish human history. I'm in my 50s now, I'm way too old to still have a boogeyman under the bed.

Good day young man, I have been a life long atheist as I was never indoctrinated into any religion by my none religious family. The subject was never raised at home. Though in school we ALL had to attend the morning assembly where some prayers were said. Me and my friends stood at the back talking about things that were of interest to us. So I am always interested why young people are or become atheist. Alas like all young people you speak too fast and you do not enunciate your words clearly. I’m sure that your age group have no problems but I was born in 1941 in the middle of war torn Birmingham, England and I cannot follow your no doubt excellent speech. Can I respectfully suggest you listen to some more experienced speakers and re make your video with a more moderated speed of speech giving you sufficient time to enunciate each word. I’m sure there are many foreigners that would also appreciate this improvement. Thank you.

-Tell us are there being more advanced than humans in the Universe? Yes/No? If So would they be Gods to humans? Why is it that from the 4 corners of the planet, as long as there have been written history, people report visitation from beings of an advanced nature , who have similar features, and dispelled knowledge, for 5,000 years ?
