Easy: people say hi and talk to each other. Also: Windsorites watch ALL of the crap going on in the world: wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, flooding, drought, crime, American guns, anti-abortion stands, multi tiered medical, gangs, lousy political climate, Donald Trump (!) and many others, Windsorites complain about a few days of ‘humidity’. Mild climate in all season, surrounded by fresh water, much to do without fear, no tornados, wildfires, earthquakes or flooding, good an paid for health and medicine, good wages and jobs, NO Donald Trump, decent political climate. Thank you for staying away!

Having researched every Canadian city, I moved to Windsor 4 months ago because: 1. Living the safe & equitable system of socialist Canada while shopping in the competitive capitalistic markets of the USA make Windsor the cheapest Canadian city to live in. 2. With the Detroit-Windsor metro area populating at 5.5mil people, it's the big city life, yet housing prices are significantly cheaper than smaller metropolitan areas such as Halifax, Calgary, or Quebec City because Canadians somehow see Windsor as an isolated town. 3. While Detroit-Windsor is driving distance to Chicago, Toronto, Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Indy, and Cincinnati, it's the two int'l airports that make this city the ideal base for North American exploring. Flights to any Canadian city is cheaper from Windsor airport than from any US airport, and flights to any US city from Detroit airport is much cheaper than from any Canadian airport, due to flights not paying international aviation fees. There are many reasons but these three are top of mind when it comes to choosing this city over any other.

I grew up in Windsor and moved to Toronto back in 2008ish .... to this day, when people ask me where I am from; I always reply "Windsor" .. ha ha ha A few times in Toronto it has caused some confusion with my friends .... once when asked and I replied "Windsor" a friend of mine spoke up and said "don't you live downtown on Church Street?" .. I laughed and said "Yeah I live in Toronto but I am from Windsor!" lol Windsor is HOME :)

Windsor is a good town, there’s lots to do ,you have the United States so close ,it opens many doors, as if you were living in a very large city, yet you get to go back to living in a safe and medium size community, you get to enjoy all the benefits of living in Canada, and you also get very easy access to the American market for pro sports, shopping, concerts, symphonies, art museums, you get the best of both worlds. It used to be an extremely reasonable place to live but prices like everywhere else are going up significantly, you can’t win on that one. Many people are moving here from the more expensive parts of Canada like Toronto and Ottawa and even out west. But it’s still cheaper than the large Canadian metropolitan areas. The weather is very good for Canada and the people overall are quite friendly.

Other things to like about Windsor: All the local wineries, so many amazing wines. Willistead Manor, Baby House - so much history in this area including battle sites from the war of 1812. Closeness to Point Pelee National Park - Canada's most southern point at the same latitude as Northern California. Peche Island - Natural area in the Detroit river where it meets Lake St Clair. All sorts of access to the Great Lakes as well.

As a man who splits his time between downtown Toronto and South Windsor, Ontario - I definitely see the pros and cons of Windsor living. Some of the best features of Windsor/Essex County are; - Climate (Windsor can sometimes be 20C warmer than Toronto. This past March Toronto was -2C while Windsor was 17C). - Food! Windsor Ontario has some of the most amazing food, and there is also amazing eateries in Detroit (Mexican Town at the foot of the Ambassador Bridge is amazing) - Windsor Pizza (I laugh when ppl in Toronto tell me that they found a good pizza place in the city, Toronto pizza is GARBAGE) Windsor pizza is beyond words! - Multi Cultural Pride (Windsor celebrates so many different cultures and communities) - The parks along the Detroit River - The view of Downtown Detroit from Windsor is amazing! - History, Amherstburg and Sandwich Town, Walkerville and Ford City - all have rich histories! - Space - the trails and parks, open fields out in the county. - Wine= Awesome wineries in Harrow and Leamington - convenience - Windsor is a 30 min drive from DTW airport. Windsor and Toronto are two very different lifestyles but, both yield positive aspects and fit the needs of diverse ppl.
