A nice video to give people a heads-up on what to expect from Canadian life. For eight years, I was a Torontonian, and I am now back in the Philippines for personal reasons. Of the ten reasons you mentioned, I thought healthcare could be a gamechanger for sickly people. The cost of living, wherever you are, is best managed by being prudent and resourceful. Immigrants have to adapt to the climate and embrace the long winter months. Which is better, though, flurries and snow or the dirty flood brought by typhoons?

you can add about the negatives : - Very poor social life, canadians are so nice they even don't want anything to do with you - Everything is expensive, specially housing/parking/fees .... just pay pay pay - Everything is far, to visit the next big city you need to drive for many many hours - Pothole everywhere if you live in Montreal - Car and winter, big trouble if you don't have an inside parking, imagine you car covered by ice, with snow you get to shovel hard to remove the snow, sometimes you get stuck in the ice You would like Canada if : - you are introvert - you love the trees and the snow - you enjoy walking on icy slippery sidewalks and the list can go on, nothing is perfect its just a life choice

* That's not my experience, as an immigrant most canadians welcomed me and I still have friends that I made over 30 years ago. It takes time to make good friends anywhere. Plus culture adjustment and the language barrier make it harder but not impossible. * snow, ice...those things should be considered before deciding to come here, yes not everyone can adjust to that * expensive, everywhere things are expensive now dsys

There are millions out of work here. Canada does not accept University and college degrees from other countries you may have to spend years upgrading. Plus I know of sevel people with engineering degrees who degrees were never accepted and they had to do building maintenance for minimum wage. One had to drive taxi. Anther was a heart surgeon from India who had to perminantly work as a janitor in the hospitals here. PM Trudeau just wants to to come and bring money. Make sure you have a job here before you move and a way to get back if it does not workout.

In the Philippines, you serve and work for the government. It’s not the government working for you! Worse is, you’ll see your tax money going to the pockets of corrupt politicians,,, even worst, the rich are highly favored… they can get away with money laundering and tax evasion…. where is the dignity of labor? If you get sick when you’re old, become confined in the hospital, all your hard earned money’s going to pay for the bill… here, I’ll be covered. I moved to Edmonton from the Uk with my Canadian wife 20yrs ago. 4 yrs in we moved to Toronto. My first job here was in an autobody shop detailing cars(i was in IT in the uk). After a year I beat out over 300+ applicants from all over the globe for a govt job. Just have to be prepared to do anything until the right job comes along. Also I'd rather have the infrequent snow than the constant bloody rain we got in the uk. Driving is bad but it's been made worse by morons on their damn cell phones and people who dont look after their cars. We live in a simple townhouse. Not upgrading a car. Not upgrading iphones. And live within our means. Sorry, too expensive on both accounts! Check out flights out of your closest US city. You can fly out of American cities without surrendering your right arm and leg. Ever wonder why droves of Americans are all flying across country in the news at 4th July, Easter, Christmas, while Canadians for the most part go nowhere? Americans fly for peanuts compared to greedy ripoff Canadian airlines and airports. Taxation fly in or out of a Canadian airport is so high AND the flights themselves, it’s simply unaffordable for many. Americans have family spread out all over the nation but it’s not a problem since airfare is so inexpensive!!!

@@margmak6234 I won’t. Just too damn cold and cost of everything is nuts. If you want to buy a bottle of whiskey you have to travel many blocks to what they call LCBO. It’s basically a monopoly on liquor. I’m used to just walking to the corner package store for a bottle of liquor. The cost too is absolutely ridiculous but you have no choice. I could go on and on but it’s just not worth the aggravation to live there. Another gripe is safety checks on a car when you by it privately. You are at the mercy of a garage. I believe in safety yes but think about all the thoroughly rusted out vehicles driving around with massive holes. But just because you happen to buy a car that has a hole the size of a quarter… it fails inspection. Makes no sense. Then if you want to get the rust repaired the cost for bodywork is absolutely nuts plus 13% tax on everything, even on labor. Americans would definitely revolt. Canadians appear to be very passive. Due to inflation and current situation here in Canada (and around the world), min 15/hr is not enough, so for some people working double/triple job is necessary to make ends meet, however, there is always a better way, just like she said, the key here is to really look for a job that would pay you 3 or 4 or even 5 times the minimum. It will take time and effort but it is doable, you just have to persevere, be patient and work smart. I do not agree with you. I was born in the Philippines but moved to Canada when I was 3 years old. I got married in Philippines 2019 and my wife is now living here in Montreal with me since last December. Here is my own opinion: 1) Car Insurance is expensive. In any civilized world there is car insurance with 2 way coverage. Is it too expensive as opposed to Pinas where you don’t have car insurance? You get into an accident or worse the person that hit you drives off. And worse off all he has no insurance and no plates on his car or motorsiklo. So you have no recourse…you have to pay the damages yourself and your own hospital bills. Pinas, anyone who doesn’t know how to drive and has no insurance can drive. So your playing Russian roulette getting to EDSA each and everyday. Your saying that car prices are expensive? Really? New cars are expensive whether you are here in Canada or Pinas. This is a moot point! 2) I agree cell phone bills are expensive 3) Very Cold ?? As oppose to Pinas where its soo humid that I got a cold. Where you have heavy rains that it floods. In any country, there are good and bad things about the weather…suck it up! 4) Poor health care? Really? 8 hour long line ups…during covid. I cannot speak to the wait times but the health care is free. You base it on Pinas where if you are dying of cancer, you have to pay your treatment yourself…too bad! That’s a lot of money for cancer treatment in Pinas. Canada has a good health system. Children have free dental services also in Quebec, if your kid needs eyeglasses, the government pays up to $250CDN. In Pinas, tough….you have to pay for the dentist and everything else. Now tell me…is that poor health care? Oh, and if you live in the States, you get private health care which you pay for via job. Oh one thing, you need to read the fine print in your insurance. If you accidentally go get treatment because you broke your arm and you go to the wrong hospital because your insurance will not pay for the medical bill, well you have to pay for it yourself. 5) Expensive plane ticket? I can’t argue with you but why? Are you expecting to go to Pinas every year? You are here to make a life in Canada…save and work before going to Pinas 6) Store locations not convenient ? Then your living in the wrong area of Calgary. In Montreal, if you want pinoy food and Walmart, then you live in Cote Des Neiges…there is a growing filipino population. Pinoys coming to Canada are lucky now. There is Jollibee, seafood city where there is abundance of Pinoy food. When my parents and I came here, there was no Jollibee in the 70s or a lot of pinoy grocery story. We learned to suck it up and stop complaining! 7) Food is expensive because of covid and what is happening south of us with a certain president. 8) Too much taxes? Every country has taxes. I guess you are not used to paying taxes because I heard in Pinas you do not file an income tax, it is your employer who files your income tax on their benefit. Now how screwed up is that! Canadians pay taxes but it is offset by healthcare and other myriads of services we as Canadians get compared to Pinas. Again…suck it up! 9) Its not easy to find a job? Well, I am sorry but Philippine education is lacking. Your years of schooling is not enough. Let me give you an example, my dad graduated as an engineer in Mapuaa Institute of Technology and the Canadian gov’t rated the equivalency in education and it turned out to be only equivalent to 1 year of University in Canada. SO yes, if you want to get ahead and improve then you need to educate yourself in Canada. All I can say if you came in Canada as a blue collar worker, in the short term, you are earning less, that is true but so is everyone else. However, you can improve yourself! You can push and go back to school, there is nothing stopping you. There are ample opportunities to improve yourself in Canada more so than in Pinas. You are a blue collar worker in Pinas, you got to University in the Philippines, the odds are against you for trying to find a good job, why? Too many supply not enough demand. There are too many people chasing too few jobs. 10. Expensive house? This is all relative. I am not trying to bash you but your giving a very one sided picture of coming to Canada. If you want a better life, a better education and a better job then its worth it to come to Canada. There are ample opportunities to improve yourself, more than in the Philippines. But remember, just because we earn $$$, our expenses are in $$$. The best thing to do is to save and retire in Pinas. Or if your like me working in the IT Sector, live in Pinas and work for a Canadian company and work online. I was about to do that before I met my wife but now its better for her and my son to come to Canada. One thing, if you are lazy to study or lazy to push hard to work, then do not bother coming to Canada. You are better off drinking in Pinas. For anyone contemplating coming to Canada, you need to be a little of a go getter and leave all complaints behind and just suck up and do it. I know of people who keep on complaining about how much life is better in Pinas, they had their foot out the door. Sadly, they failed to make a life in Canada and returned to Pinas…but they are experiencing hardship now in Pinas. My advice, if you come, do not look back, you need to be all in with living in Canada…that is the only way you will succeed. I agree that if you look at it Pinas it is a better place to live than in Canada in terms of the weather and food (family is another matter...where everybody bugs you for money) BUT...and its a bIg BUT...you need to have a lot of money! If you are in Pinas but do not have a lot of money....life in Pinas sucks! Canada offers you the chance to improve yourself and attain a better life.

Reality everywhere is the same even here in US you gotta work hard to keep up with your bills and pay for the lifestyles you choose unless you were born with the golden spoon this video feels like trying to discourage people who wants to experience life in Canada we have different circumstances and struggle in life you might be talking about reality which is okay but keep it to yourself and let them decide with out having to hear negativity. One more thing every country’s income matches your living expenses if your earning in dollar you have to spend in dollar too. Why caption it that way “DONT COME TO CANADA 10 REASON” filipino toxicity ayaw marating ng sariling kababayan ang narating nila kasi baka malagpasan sila. If you hate Canada that much why stay there. Just saying
