This statement is real. I damaged my hair with 15 year dye. I begged god to help me get my hair back. Now its down my back. And when I'm on the treadmill my hair jumps from left to right. The issue i have now is volume i need it to get thicks especially in front. Those diet pills broke my hair

When it rains catch rain water and fill up gallons. Start using rain water to wash hair. Use rice water to condition. Dont rinse it out. Never use tap water again. Its too strong for our hair. I just stopped applying a relaxer . I have gone years without clipping my ends and getting deep conditioning treatments. Everytime I think I get somewhere with growing my hair it sheds or falls out . One area will grow while the other gets super brittle.... I’ve finally decided to try something new .... recently braids, stopped wearing quick weaves and will stop wearing pony tails (breaks my hair sooo bad) today I finally decided to cut it and it’s taking some getting used to but I feel so optimistic about my journey ! Our hair DOES grow just as fast as anyone else's... We just dont have the same innate growth retention. EVERYONE's hair grows @ about 1/2 inch every month on average. Since our hair can suffer from dryness... we can deal with alot of breakage. How much WE retain is up to our hair care regimen. And you're Gorg by the way! 😍
@Cindy99765
4 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree that length retention is largely up to our own hair care routines. However, the 1/2 inch rate of growth every month is an average! I know many people with good routines whose hair naturally grows an inch every month, or even 1/3 of an inch every month.

A note for clarification ladies: essential oils are the “essence” of the plant. It’s what gives the oil it’s fragrance. The other oils we use (coconut, castor, olive, etc) are what could be essential (e.g. necessary, important) for nourishing the hair.

I’m a cosmetologist and every chemical leaves the hair weaker. However sis, I will be gray if I don’t color. Bigen haircolor is supposed to be pretty harmless. But I’m going to put a rinse I’ve already bought on my hair in a couple weeks and my husband now says he doesn’t mind me going gray. Additionally, all of he chemicals we’re using could possibly be contributing to fibroids. Black women hav the highest instances of it and we spend more on haircare products than anyone else!

Nappy Scribe I’m so allergic to everything. The bigen color is bomb and I can only use the semi one. If I use the mixture I have severe allergic reaction. I’ve tried the demi color by Wella with the developer and that too severely reacts to my hair and skin. Not ready for the grey hair either.

Think of it. Gray is in style now. I started with a streak of it in the front with my hair in a bob cut. Sides shaved. I began incorporating more and more gray in. Getting lots of compliments from everyone except my husband. My husband’s opinion mattered so I colored it. I told him I’m coloring it one last time. He says I can just let it go gray and that he doesn’t remember complaining about it! Gray is cool! I exercise and plan to keep my clothing current. I wonder if all these chemicals are where fibroids are coming from. If the color is harsh on your hair, what about your internal organs? Your scalp is porous. It’s not made of brick. What you put on seeps into your insides. Self acceptance is the direction I’m headed!

it’s not all about genetics and don’t let ppl convince you of that. your hair is constantly growing unless you have some sort of medical issue but the reason why you haven’t seen the growth is bc it’s breaking off as fast as it grows . focus on keeping your ends moisturized and tucked away . low manipulation is key

This video is so spot on and has common sense tips!! I'm also black african and my 2 sisters have hair just like yours. I on the other hand have noticed the more love you show your hair the more it shows over time. My natural hair journey started with a bang (we all habe relatively fast hair growth!) however as soon as the lobe stopped the growth slowed down almost to a halt (retention is so hard without trims and regular care and attention!) You've def inspired me to pull my fingers to work. 👏🏽

I love that you mention genetics first. I'm 100% black and I cut my hair off just about every year for the past 5 yrs. My hair always grows back pretty fast because I eat well and take care of myself. I'm here for some tips to speed up the process a little :) The oils you mentioned are pressed vegetable oils known as carrier oils. Essential oils are distilled with alcohol and should always be used with carrier oils. Essential oils by themselves can damage hair. But there are essential oils that are excellent for hair care when paired with carrier oils.
@emeyse5906

Brooke Jones Do you have any examples of essential and carrier oil combinations?
@brookejones7157
4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Oils such as coconut oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, and pumpkin seed oil are examples of carrier oils. Most of them can be found at the grocery store with the cooking oils. Castor oil and argan oils are also carriers, and they're usually found in beauty supply stores. Some essential oils that are good for hair care are tea tree oil, rose oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil, clary sage oil, nettle oil and others I can't think of, but you can totally Google lol! These come in small 1-4 oz bottles, and have very present fragrances. These are usually found in health food stores with the body care products and are sometimes kinda pricey but totally worth it! Walmart carries them too but they aren't the best quality. Bonus: Essential oils are also excellent for aromatherapy to help with stress, moods, and sleep. :)

M. McDade-Allen I have very fine wavy hair also. Have you tried the rice water rinse? It does help the hair grow. With our type of hair you shampoo, apply rice water rinse & apply deep conditioner directly on top of it. This way is applying the deep conditioner avoids the drying of the rice water which tends to break hair that’s fine. I hope you don’t give up & try this for at least 3 - 6 months. Hope you grow what you want.

Thank you! I have been at this for 10 years, trying everything to get mid back length hair. My mom and grandma had fine, air that tends to be high porosity and tangly. And I am biracial, so. It’s not that all of us can grow long hair. Finally highlighted to have fun with my hair after accepting that bra strap was my terminal length.

I want to thank you for your videos. I've cut my hair multiple times in my life and I'm just now really getting into my own hair care. I spent my youth hating my long relaxed hair and found it annoying. I think I thought of my hair as a chore because no one likes doing my hair. "It was think and stubborn" I was always told this. I mean who would like taking care of something that everyone around you seems to resent. After having my daughter and getting some serious down time thanks to this pandemic, I am able to truly take time and appreciate my crown and glory. I want to instill the love I am finding for my hair in my daughter as well. So thank you so much for sharing your journey.

You are so right. I took my perm out, and went natural. I have always had long hair. But I love my natural hair, and take care of it diligently. Natural hair does take longer to grow but it does grow. And that was the best thing I could ever do. In 2019 started doing this ginger and coconut treatment every month, twice or three times a week. I have seen growth. My hair is shiny and it looks good. It has been amazing. I take care of my natural hair. And I have tried the rice water as well. That is good too. Thank you for this video. I use Jamaican Black Castor oil, Organic coconut oil, almond oil and others. Patience is the hair with your hair. Have to give it time. I take vitamin D and biotin, hair, skin and nails as well. Eat healthy and drink lots of water.

This is awesome! You are combating these lies and myths that many of us black people have believed for years. We are learning about ourselves more and more. I noticed we are evolving as a people. These reasons you have stated are mostly the reason we have shoter hair. Thanks to youtube channels like yours, we are more educated about our hair. And i believe in about 50 years do to being educated, most black people's hair will be to their backs.

Hi Mercy, vitamine B is must have for hair growth . And if your hair don't gro as fast as you want, you still end up with fuller hair. And if your iron is low all that beautiful hair breaks off.

This was very true and insightful. When I shaved my hair, it was to really gain full control over knowing my hair. Now that I make the time to care for my hair and tend to her, she’s growing. All it takes is a lot of love and want to make your hair grow and trying new things, like was mentioned in the video. If you want the long nails and the hair and healthy skin you need to place a lot of belief that your hair skin and nails will benefit. You need to be the one who’s giving yourself the confidence. Thank you for making this video! I always need the reminder and encouragement!

Diagnosed with alopecia (ccca) 7-8 yrs ago. My hair goes through seasons. Now it’s as unhealthy as ever. It’s been hard. Been natural since 2000. Looking for products and hair styles that work is tiresome. I have low porosity and almost no curl. I wouldn’t wish ccca on anyone. Some say, cut it. It’ll grow back. Not always. Everyone’s hair doesn’t always grow back (strong and healthy). Mine grows strong in the places where the illness hasn’t affected follicles.. I take vitamins, use oils, massage, a steamer & working on increasing water intake. Length isn’t a goal for me; I desire thickness. I will fight this with faith and courage. I know God has a plan. Im on this path and speaking life to these follicles. I’m encouraged reading all of your comments. Btw, you are beautiful Merci! Blessings § love 💜💜
