you forgot a fact!! the WRX and STI in America do not have the same engines as Europe and Japan. Most race teams and amateur drivers will swap in the Japanese EJ counterpart. The American STI utilizes EJ 257 which had very little changes from its N/A counterpart. As a result the Japanese engine made a deep impression in the racing community; where as the American engine made an impression in the owner's wallet. With a decent number of people needing to use a warranty claims to replace the stock engine which blew up on stock power.

also wanted to add that i wired one of those intercooler sprayers on my sti intercooler, it makes me feel so much better about my turbo at high rpm. It’s also distilled water, NOT windshield washer fluid, unless you wanna send ethanol through your hot turbo. Don’t think it would cause issues but i’ve always used water so i can put ice cubes in the tank with it for extra cold. Only use it in the summer because of that, though (only time I really need it anyways). In the models the sprayer came in, it was a separate reservoir in the trunk. I have my tank mounted against the firewall with heat shielding to keep the water from getting warm.
