Hey! I'm not sure if you've done this yet, but can you do a video on "How to spot when you are being emotionally manipulated"? It has recently come to my attention via this controversy around youtuber Onision ( twitter.com/RedVexeDesigns/status/942411933818540032 ) that many people actually do NOT understand why this type of exchange is manipulative, or abusive. In fact, most people don't seem to realize that this was actually a serial manipulator expertly weaving gaslighting with implication to draw emotional and psychological reactions from someone he believed to have an anxiety disorder. It would definitely be good for people to see and understand how manipulators use social interactions, social media, public opinion and language and your psychology itself to manipulate and coerce, and to abuse... I dunno, just a suggestion, since I'm seeing so much of this lately!

Confront a psychopath and they will never admit to wrongdoing. Am I right? In fact, they will blame you for anything gone wrong. All I can say is trust your intuition. Whenever I've initially felt someone was bad, they usually turned out to be bad. Whenever I ignored my gut feelings about someone, I have always regretted it.

I never confronted my dad about anything until I was 33 years old. I was scared to do it and thought maybe it was just my problem so I asked him to come to a counselor with me. I began to confront him for the first time about some of his really bad parenting decisions which, before that, I had just assumed were obvious (I only saw him for 3 weeks total in my life before I came to stay with him for the summer when I was 15). He was furious, the first time I had ever seen him angry, and he started yelling "I'm a really great guy!!!". Then he began to tell me all the times he had given me money (again, only after I was 15). It was so clear as he was saying it that he did not believe I deserved any of it. I always believed that we had worked things out, that he had changed, he cared.
@jayaom4946

@Fluff Your Garfield Thanks for sharing that. I like the idea that it's not personal. It's a really hard one for me to grasp still. One of the problems has been that I moved with my husband and our children to my dad's small city when he offered a house for us to live in that had been left to him by his mother. My dad hid my existence from many of his family members and I did not realize until after his death even that the family members who knew thought that he only found out about me when I was 13... at which time he came running to meet me. I came to this area because I struggled with epilepsy and definitely believed that he had good intentions. He owned a health food store and I thought I could be involved because I was his only child and had been fascinated with health food for a long time. But it took years of living here before he was willing to give me a 4 hour shift and I found out after I was there that I had pushed out another girl who had the "disabled person shift". Anyway, it's getting complicated but the store was obviously not left to me when he died and the health food community was almost worshipful toward his image of a really great guy. It's still painful, as if I'm just crazy. I know everyone sees me as ungrateful for all that he gave me. I was once out with him and he wanted to drop $5 in someone's tip jar. He kept reaching forward to put it in and the person at the stand was busy and kept turning the other direction at which time my dad would pull the money back. He did this like 5 times until he finally shouted "I'm putting this in here!!!!!!!!!" and the man jumped and said, cautiously, "alright". My dad turned to me with a smile and said "I want to give but I want to be seen giving!" Hahahaha! That's a clear summary for all that he gave me. He loved money and was a gambling addict but he wanted very few material possessions for himself. Money was power and he often used it to "give" but that meant that he wanted to be seen as a loving, generous man without having to put in any effort. A year after he died there's a big celebration for his memory next week. This "legendary" man. I saw it on FB. My heart is full of pain especially because none of these people were his friends outside of his store. The picture that went with the ad for the celebration was one I took at my house. They didn't have any that they took themselves. Why am I so sad? I can't describe it, I wish I could let it go but I still feel trapped in his narcissistic world even after his death.

@Fluff Your Garfield Thank you for listening. It must be nice to get away. I try sometimes to look at this as a challenge and know that the real issue is inside of me. I (unknowingly) dated a psychopath for 4 years. His end goal was to sexually and verbally abuse me until I killed myself. As a Psychopath myself, I'd feel sympathy for you if I could. That is a morally awful thing to happen to a normal, and for your sake, I hope your brain did not formulate its scars into something more complex. I understand not all psychopaths are monsters and it really aggravates me when people assume that. Thank you for reaching out like that, it really warms my heart. Sadly I did get a lot of trauma from this, but, I think there were many other things wrong with him other than a lack of empathy.

Unfortunately, I don't think there *was* an underlying issue. @@daeph123 I haven't rewatched the video, but he had my home address and threatened to swat or kill my family if I didn't do what he said. He also said that he has connections with gangs that will hurt my friends, he lied about these to scare me into doing what he wants. He made my life a living hell for the next 4 ish years, and he would constantly verbally abuse me over text and face chats. He urged me to self harm and threatened to kill my family or himself if I didn't, and he tried to coax me into more extreme self harm later on. I was too scared to tell my mom about it all, plus at this point of abuse I was so suicidal I'd rather die than anything else. I was really young too, about 12, and I told him how I felt. He said that I should kill myself, and that I could never be saved and I'd suffer the rest of my life if I didn't. I believed him, but, as I was about to carry out my plan of hanging, I decided I was better than this, so I contacted a suicide hotline. I gave them my address and I got bakeracted for a week, then released. I got bakeracted again for attempting an overdose because I wasn't better, but then after the second time being there I wanted to change things for the better. I blocked him on everything (they told me he was lying about gang connections) and I never talked to him again. He was stalking me and texting my sister the threats, but she knew he wouldn't do it, so she blocked him too. It's been about two years I think? @@hollyconger9037 the best thing you can do is understand what they are do fight with them dont want them to stop what they are doing. Understand that what they are is faulty and broken humans and treat them as such. The mind of a psychopath works like this. It needs you to crack or to or react in a way that is suffering. So they receive dopamine uptake they get a massive amount of it. Its why they do what they do they feel they are superior but the truth is they are just addicted to their own biochemistry. They are pathetic like any sadists. The whole game is dependent on you displaying signs of suffering. And let me empower you. You have full control over how you react how you feel. If you want to control them you start buy controlling yourself and noticing things like the stress that trying to work out how to stop them. It's simple and easy stop thinking that because that's the game. You let the lot go by you and fuck what shit they spread if you know yourself that's truly all that matters. These things are not true people they are less important than plant life this is how it is. Ive been dealing with them for 42 years. Learn them educate yourself about them be ready for them. They have one game that takes many forms. Trying to make people suffer they pick the weakest or kindest or those most likely to know what they are. Just don't suffer because of it. Don't bottle nothing up or try talking to them about it they love that. If you have any close friends you can trust talk to them in a sensible way. Sadly they are a protected species because id personally erase them all from the human gene pool but we have to live with them so this is how you do that. I'll say it once again. The key to it is not wanting it to stop the more you do that the deeper you will go don't ignore your feelings either though just accept it as poor behavior on thier part your on the high ground and give yourself confidence. Stand up straight behave in a calm fashion. And if you can't just get out of the way and sort yourself out. Do not respond to them at all nothing because anything they will feed off. . Hope that is helpful

Completely. My dad always told lies about people that were strong inside. He was terrified of them. He was so addicted to anyone who would build up his ego and, because of that, he was enslaved to those people, whoever they were. He was a sad and lonely little man, ready to reward anyone who pretended to like and love him. He died a year ago and his group (customers and employees of his health food store) are getting together to celebrate him (because it serves them to pretend he was a "legend"). I saw the picture they put with the ad for it and noticed that it was one in my house that I had snapped on Christmas . I don't know how they got it but I do know that none of these people had any pics of him or took any. It was all a show (and still is after his death). They never gathered with him and he was so sad and lonely that when he couldn't sleep at night he would go to his store and sleep with his head on his desk, waiting for it to open up again and the illusion of friends/family to start back up. I tried to give him love but he could not comprehend it at all.

I used to be a victim of my psycho ex. He would unfollow guys on my social accounts, verbally abuse me. Make me feel bad for talking to my friends. Did stuff behind my back. It was constantly physically and mentally draining everyday. He never cared about me. It came to me swiftly, and I didn't realize how toxic it was all bc I thought that I could change him for the better. Moral of the story, abort immediately if you feel like the relationship isn't going anywhere. Once it's too late, it can be so damaging and may be hard to turn back and recover...resulting in a domino effect

I had a friend like this. In the beggining of our friendship she was soo sweet and gave me gifts and said we were ”soulmates” and ”besties forever”. It was great, but then after a few months she got bored of me so she started treating me like actual garbage. She made me feel like everything in this world was my fault, It took me a long time to realize it wasnt me who was the problem it was her.. I’m terrified of finding new friends/relationships now. And I just want to warn everyone, if someone is too nice before you even know eachother? Run 😊

+Nope Psychopaths by their nature are cowards. They tend to pick on the weak. If your friend was a psychopath she may have just reacted to you because she could not control you. The best way to deal with psychopaths is to stand up them and not show yourself as being a victim. Building your confidence is one of the key protections against psychopaths.

I believe you, and I wish I had something more to offer than a joke and "I'm sorry this happened to you". This is why I ended up transferring to English Lit. instead of Psychology in University, I'm clearly shit at this. I don't know how anyone can blame a child (even one grown up now) for the abuses they suffer, this is appalling... But I'm oddly hoping you write this story some day in a memoir so that people WILL believe, and connect to, your story. I had a psychopath target me when I was 19. As I watched this video I felt like I was watching a documentary about him. He used each one of these tactics against me. The really screwed up thing that he did was the isolation thing. He got me drunk one night after pretending to be my best friend. He got me alone, and tried to convince me to kill myself. He also tried to convince me that he was spying on me, and that he would come find me one day, and torture me to death if I didn’t take my own life. He beat the shit out of me, stomped on me, and insulted me for a good twenty or thirty minutes. These types of people are EXTREMELY dangerous! They will watch you closely, and try to mentally manipulate you into doing what they want. That includes trying to manipulate you into killing yourself. I hope I never see that guy again. I also hope he never tries to do that to anyone else.

My grandfather was a psychopath. He didn't kill any one or anything like that, but he was diagnosed. For years he begged my parents to move near him and work for him because his health was getting worse. Then one day, he told us he had a major medical emergency and we needed to move down there ASAP. He also promised that if we moved down, we would inherit the company he owned, so we did. We moved our whole, stable lives to a small town to work for a small company and when we got there we discovered that the the "medical emergency" wasn't as serious as he made it out to be. He was also having trouble paying his bills so we got a joint bank account for him to take money from, too. Then one day he fired my father (his son in law) for evidently no reason then took THOUSANDS of dollars out of the bank account. Then he fired my mom weeks later. We were forced to move with little to nothing to our name. We found out from a former employee that he fired my father because the company was $2.5 million in debt and my father was about to find that out. After we moved, he was FURIOUS and put the company in my name so when he died, I wouldn't have control over it until I was 18 and my parents would be responsible if it failed. I would also start my life off $2.5 million dollars in debt. It hurt my mom so badly that she had to see a therapist and when she found one, she specifically sought out one that specialized in psychotic behavior, and that's when we found out. Every so once in a while he texts me with the "I'm sorry but when you run a company you have to make tough decisions," bullshit, and never really takes responsibility for what he did to me or my family. EDIT: it's been a few months later AND THIS BITCH HAD THE NERVE TO SHOW UP AT MY HOUSE. He found out where we live through a tax document or something and had THE NERVE to visit. It hasn't even been a YEAR later. I hate him so much.

My ex-girlfriend did a lot of those things... overwhelming me with gifts, and once she had me locked she became very distant... but then she cane back and instilled learned helplessness into me and worked hard to ensure I had nobody else but her who I could trust But she wasn’t a psychopath, she had Borderline Personality Disorder. The underlying motivations of BPD are very different from psychopathy, but the behavior is very similar in many ways

What the hell happened to this channel? Psychopathy has nothing to do with being a sexual predator or a murderer per se. This is just plain bs. The main traits of a psychopath are a lack of empathy and an egocentric view, which doesn't imply any aggression in itself. A psychopath will however do anything to achieve his/her goals without any regard for others. This can be dangerous but can also be a good thing in certain situations. They aren't driven by needs any more as any other person. This video is a huge step back in quality for this channel.

@B20C0

Demet no. Psychopaths very often have narcissistic traits but a narcissist is not necessarily unable to feel empathy. The lack of empathy in psychopaths has actually already been linked to an underdevelopment in mirror neurons, the neurons responsible for feelings of empathy (e.g. you instinctively cringe when you see someone who gets his balls kicked). Psychopaths can appear cruel for that reason but their intention is in fact not necessarily to harm others, they only do it if they are in the way of their goals. Basically they do what many people do in this society, they just don't have to make up excuses for treating others badly because it doesn't concern them. That's why they are so successful in the business world, they don't have to waste energy to calm their conscience.

The only way to beat a physocpath is to beat the physco at its own game. There are three factors you can choose from: Let them manipulate you, get in a conflict with them or just name them realise your not worth any time and avoid them. If you are gullable and easy to trick, they're superior, if you get in conflict, they're superior but if you out smart them your obviously superior.

I used to have a "friend" named Ava. We were in a friend group until she started ignoring me. This went on for a few weeks and when I confronted her, she admited it. That was when I asked one of my other friends why she would keep ignoring me and get mad at me for the tiniest mistakes. It turned out that she was jealous. Then, a few weeks later, she was upset because I had the same item as her in a GAME. I used her outfit ONCE and I stopped when she told me to stop. I got frusterated and in that time, I was at a sleepover with a few of my other friends. They even though it was unreasonable to get mad at that. I asked the same friend why she kept doing this. We figured out that she was a psycho that would do anything for friendship and to be someone else. Don't let jealousy turn you into a monster. That's what happened to her.

My teacher has all of these signs. He gives me compliments for everything I do, even if it‘s weird and calls me a beauty and stuff like that. Last friday I didn‘t eat something and he said I should come with him. I was with him alone in a classroom and he touched my hand in a weird way and wanted to give me food. My friends wanted to come along with me but he said no, only I should go with him. He gave me 10 dollars because he heard i didn‘t have money for buying something. He sometimes gives me his pens because he didn‘t need them anymore and just wants to give me something. (why?) He stares at me sometimes for too long. He isolated my friend once so she had to make a presentation just infront of him because he said she fucked up the last time she did infront of the whole class. Wtf? He also gives me compliments for being the best student infront of my class the whole time and it‘s just so weird ... He told our whole class he loves us and has father feelings for us too.... He wants me to help him with work even tho he knows I have too much work to do for school. He tells me that i‘m „special“. I don‘t have a good feeling about this. Update: I discussed it in class with everyone around and him. I told him that I‘m not comfortable with how he treats me and I‘m just a normal student like everyone else is. He was really shoked and wanted to talk with me in privat and was really weird to me like somehow angry that I said that in class but well. He still acted weird. And so I told him again and told him he should stop texting me on whatsapp. He now did. And I discussed it with my friends in class, if he doesn‘t respect our privacy, we will tell it the school people (dunno how to call it on english haha)

Being the victim of multiple psychopath's is demoralizing, tiering and very depressing. It makes you feel like you have no where to turn for help, they work together to manipulate you at every turn. I don't know how to make it stop. They come at me from every angle, pushing my buttons until I turn to jelly. But no more, if I have to make huge changes to my life, I will no longer be subject to their abuse. They play mind games, and will stop at nothing to bring me down every time they sense that I am making progress. They lead me to believe things that are not true, then point it out to everyone when I figure them out as to laugh about my pain. The worst thing I did was left one when I didn't like how they treated me, ever since they have hounded me with every bit of knowledge they could gather about me. It hurts so much at times to have your life, hopes and dreams shattered by someone who only wants to repay you for leaving them with terrible turmoil. But whenever I mention it to someone and they confront them about it or word gets back to them that I spoke of their misdeads, the torment intensifies. It has cost me jobs, friends and emotional suffering for over a decade now. However since my tormenters are upstanding citizens in the community, even though their fake emotions shine through like a theater light, no one even wants to hear me, partly due to the positions these people hold in the community and churches, and partly due to the idea that someone so seemingly nice on the outside could be that cold and heartless inside. It is an uphill battle where I get close to achieving a goal only to mysteriously fail after having done everything right, only to have them rub it in my face in such a manner as to not give themselves away. I don't speak my mind to anyone anymore, I am forced to battle them alone and on their terms, whenever they see me attempting to do something positive, they remind me that they have already gone ahead and messed it up for me.

In order to no longer feel numb you have to find energy from the highest source. I close my eyes and talk to God as much as possible and ask him for energy instead of getting it from other people. It feels horrible when you are trying to help them and they use you for everything with no remorse. The only reason I had good energy was because I imagined a higher source. I close my eyes and ask for energy and happiness, and eventually found it, only to have it stolen by them. I know how much it hurts to have no happiness now. And honestly, I probably needed it to happen so I could understand how to help you even more. I believe you can truly find some good energy without stealing it, but you have to believe you can too.

Not all psychopaths want to harm others. There are different types of psychopathy. Some of these traits are fairly common (charming and emotionless) in psychopaths but psychopaths aren't sadists. They don't have urges and they don't enjoy harming and manipulating you. They feel nothing. So many people fear psychopaths (which is not a bad thing because a psychopath can kill or harm you without feeling anything) because of all these Hollywood movies about them. American Psycho for example. Not all psychopaths go around and kill people for pleasure. Hollywood makes you believe this not on purpose, they just say he is psychopaths but they don't mention other mental health problems a psychopathic character has. I would love to hear your opinion about this comment.

It's that reptilian dna they inherited from their father satan (via Cain who smashed his brothers face in with a rock and then blamed the victim for his own wickedness).

I’m not a psychiatrist, but this is what I know about psychopaths. Take what I say with a grain of salt and do your own research if you want, but this is what I’ve heard: Psychopaths can feel emotions, they aren’t completely dead inside, they just can’t feel empathy. They don’t feel bad about anything they do to hurt others, and only care about themselves. Psychopaths can have friends, and even romantic relationships, but they can never truly care about someone. That means they can enjoy being around someone, but they will always do whatever will benefit themselves. Psychopaths are more prone to being murderers than regular people, but they aren’t destined to be evil. Psychopaths often live perfectly normal lives, because killing people doesn’t usually benefit them. That’s also why psychopaths are often rapists, because that does benefit them, they just have to be sure to cover their tracks.

My younger sister is a psychopath. She has absolutely no empathy for anyone or anything else but herself. When shes was around 8 or 9, our dogs had gotten loose and into a Vicious fight with two stray dogs. And my sister watched the entire thing laughing hysterically. My whole family stopped to look at her laughing because everyone was so shocked. Still to this day, (I'm 23, she's 21) I have never seen anything so evil and demonic.

This is absolutely true I've been dealing with a neighbour for years couldn't understand why they wouldn't stop they behaviour! Everytime I approached them they would make lies up twist it I wouldn't wish this behaviour on anyone! Very dangerous I was threatened if I report them they would make it harder for me!

NOT ALL OF THEM QUACKITY not all of them. my friend who thought that.. she DESTROYED those who she thought did that to her.. and they didn't.. but her destruction was.. absolute.. scorched earth.. I know because she did that to me.. My life. will not ever be the same.. and my other little friend she was so JEALOUS of my time with. she broke that poor girls TRUST in me.. for no reason other than jealous of her time with me and when that friend broke all the way and asked this woman to take her to walmart to buy bullets to kill herself with.. she DID and my friend did indeed kill herself at 24. leaving a husband and 2 year old boy. THAT is how you get away with murder as a socio or psychopath.. SHE did THAT and I ASKED her WHY LATER HOW COULD YOU!~!!??? my mind just BREAKING TOO! with disbelief at what she just SAID To me she DID> and she said she was gonna do it ANYWAY! just as COLD and matter of fact as you please.. i was.. and still am. in shock. deep abiding shock. and I NEVER EVER EVER WANT TO RUN INTO HER AGAIN!>.. I dont know WHICH SHE WAS!

Most of this was pretty useless. I still don't know how to distinguish a psychopath from a regular nice, helpful and charming person.
@Cuchufreta

That is why psycopaths are difficult to spot, they are very charming people at the beggining. But that is a mask only to manipulate you. Form what I have read in reabilitation groups once you hace spotted a psycopath you can spott other psycopaths, the sad thing is that point they had harm you a lot. I hope you will never had to de al with that, and the advise I can give you is that you must have clear and defined values about how do you want to live your live and what do you want from it and this will make very hard forma a psycopath to manipulate you

most psychopaths are in high ranking positions, in fact 6% is the estimate of psychopaths throughout the population so that's one in every 16 Now you'll look at a classroom with very different eyes :D Common professions for a psychopath would be banking, or psychotherapy-related
@cindyzachielrivera373

quiet honestly, the only psychopaths that get spotted are the sloppy ones or the ones that share their psychopathic nature with other not so helpful traits. Most of them don't need to be criminals or violent if you don't give them excuses to.

I mean... it could just be that they get away with it. Think about how underreported rape statistics are. That private, gray area where abuse and exploitation occurs and yet can't be proven legally.. That's the shit this is about
@MisterL2_yt
6 жыл бұрын
underreported? only in long-term relationships. I'd say rape is rather overreported, at least in the USA. It could be that psychopaths have some traits that make them better at planning crimes, but the majority of psychopaths are still not criminals
