Thank God you said that about feeling tired after you speak the language, after I had a first hour-long conversation on zoom I felt like falling asleep an hour later I had to ask the teacher if that was normal

My sign of progress this week was telling a somewhat complicated story in a voicemail and having my language partner understand it well enough that he was able to respond, ask for more details and tell me a similar story. It made my day.

Abigail gave me the confidence to have italki lessons, I put it off for about 3 years .and she spoke about it in one of her videos . She is incredible and so very inspiring. My most favouritest KZitemr and watched this channel for years .

Same here. And I have to say, heeding the advice and trying Italki was one of the best things that ever happened to my Spanish learning process.

I signed up for the February-April Sprint after watching an earlier video you made about Lingoda. I am two lessons away from finishing and am on track to earn the rebate. That’s just the cherry on top, though. The speaking part has always been uncomfortable for me and my Lingoda lessons have really challenged me to grow those edges. My classes have been such a supportive environment for this. So, thanks for your previous video that mentioned the Sprint. Hope you are doing well! -Barbara

I'm at that point where I can feel the improvement, but I still haven't taken the step fully. It's frustrating, because in my mind I know how to speak and read good and fast, but when I speak all my anxiety comes up. It happens in my native language too. And I get nervous not only in front of my teacher and classmates, but also native friends T_T it's easier to try and speak with other foreign students (I'm learning Korean and I actually moved to Korea). Writing too is a lot easier and faster than my speaking.

I find that especially when you are in the intermediate stage of learning a language it is difficult to measure progress in speaking. It is important to celebrate the small(or big) victories!

Genuinely so surprised to hear your take on reading aloud hahaha I personally find it so fun in any language!! ANYway thank you for this video from someone who is recently way more interested in developing speaking skills! I've been doing my best to recognize and appreciate my small wins and progress over here

Looking at jokes as a sign of progress is pretty clever. It can also be done with idioms and slang

One sign of progress is that you can say many things about a particular topic. If you saw a movie, you can say more than "I watched a movie. It was good." You can have an in-depth discussion about the movie. You can give detailed information about the plot, actors, and so on.

Hi Abigail, Many thanks for your tips, which are really helpful. Maybe it is only because of my declining brain, and the fact that english is not my native language, but I feel it would be easier to get your point if you could introduce some pauses in your videos so we can digest your ideas. Please take it as just a suggestion, as it doesn't affect the value of what you are sharing, which is excellent. Kind regards, and thanks again Patrice

I hope that I do not sound rude or condescending, but, since the video is already divided into different sections based on different ideas, how about stopping the video at the end of each section? This is usually what I do to digest what is being said.
