I agree with everything you said but one thing and no hate please but I believe right when you’re starting off writing for your audience is useless because when you’re just learning you get more ideas and inspiration when you write for yourself and the pressure when you’re a beginner of writing for an audience I feel like me make people quit just an unpopular opinion

I've got a question. I tend to write songs in English because I love doing it. But I am an Argentinian guy and most of my audience comes there from. I also lived in The Netherdans for over 12 years and I started writing music when I was there. The fact is, in both sides of the Athlantic they recommend me to write songs in Spanish (my mother tongue) for several reasons (pronunciation, intonation and sensitivity, I guess). I write this because the item "you write songs for your audience" grabbed my attention. Well, then I think if I write for Argentinian people, my main audience so far, I should write in Spanish. I've got comments from them that they like the songs but they don't understand what I say and if I write in Spanish they can understand and they think I will sound better. The problem is, so to say, that I prefer to write in English, I don't know why. I don't feel identified with songs in Spanish; I like the synthpop music with the 80s vibe so I associate the Spanish music more with other genres that I don't really like. The question is then, how can I deal with it? Thank you in advance, this was a very inspirational video.
@EmmaMcGann
7 жыл бұрын
+Pablo DeMode Hey Pablo! I think ultimately you need to write what you enjoy. However, I know I would love to hear some Spanish synth pop! Have you ever tried singing in Spanish for the genre of your choice? Could be really interesting. I'd imagine that Spanish music covers all genres so don't be afraid to try it out! :) it's also great that you're thinking about your audience. Perhaps you could host a poll or Q&A to find out more about what they love about your music.
@PabloDeModeOfficial
7 жыл бұрын
EmmaMcGann Thank you very much for your answer! The poll idea is a good one... I'm gonna give a try. One thing is important to me: when I feel I write good lyrics I can sing the way I want and I never forget lyrics when perform live. Thank you again!

I'm not yet done with this, but yeah. I wrote this about a few days ago about my friendship with my bestfriend for five years now. Verse: That day we met back in fourth grade A misunderstood friendship is made But times were rough back then A few years later we made a truce Since then we've told each other the truth Our conversations lasted up 'til ten But then you said you had to move But to the whole world we will prove Though we may be far away Our friendship never fades This distance won't ever come between us

I’m a beginner and I wrote this song called “Left You”, and I just wanted to know what other people think so... can you please give a bit of feed back? (v) young and clueless indifferent minds and we thought we’d be alright now I’m having sleepless nights the thought of you stuck in my mind (r) filled with sorrow and regret the most heartbroken I have felt we were once perfect till I (c) ‘till I left you oh you what did I do? I’m such a fool I left you oh you didn’t think this through it’s the honest truth (v) saw you walking through the halls yet we fail to speak at all that’s when I realized you were over me threw away the pages and my dreams (r) filled with sorrow and regret the most heartbroken I have felt we were once perfect till I (c) ‘till left you oh you what did I do? I’m such a fool I left you oh you didn’t think this through it’s the honest truth (b) I know now we’re not good enough, not good enough, ey-ey I close my eyes, and dream of you and I, of you and I but I know that it won’t be the same again (c) ‘cause I left you oh you what did I do? I’m such a fool I left you oh you didn’t think this through it’s the honest truth left you oh you what did I do? I’m such a fool I left you oh you didn’t think this through it’s the honest truth you, oh you I left you didn’t think this through

You know what ms. Emma?.... I'm now having a problem again not because of my cousin who gave me that constructive criticism 5 yrs. ago but now because of my so annoying nephew from my big sister who always give me that destructive criticism.... Now here's the story about that okay.... He's only 10 yrs. old and just into basketball and online games like my other youngest cousins and he's not into music so. everytime I'm watching my favorite shows or listening to my favorite songs he always give that useless feedback by bringing me that thumbs down now I know. it's just a joke to him but for me it's really annoying and now I'm so worried about his comment to the songs that I've made.... 'cause it's like an unrespectful moment to the oldies like me as his Uncle so. now I'm wishing for that kid to don't annoy me and respect our whole family and that's the story

Ok so I’ve never written a song before and I’d like to make a chorus for this song: our father gave you a happy face your never ending grace life seems going and you still are growing your face will never stop glowing I’ll never buy you that house of ruby I hope you don’t mind you’ll always be a true beauty so rich and kind our mother saw a sparkle in your eye your cries have painted blue the heavenly sky we’ll get old and die but you, your soul will only fly It’s centered around the word grace if that helps Also I came up with this but I’m not sure if it’s good enough: Father gave you grace and glory A gift for all the lowly your an angel from above our dove our dove

hmm I’ll try. Always told to never lie Always told to drop the dime Hiding all these thoughts Replacing this slot Until It gets dropped. Closet full of empty mind Holding in what’s left behind Let it out Spreading south. Now everything’s dropping down Should I have left it all alone? Save me from this lifeless hope Keep it cool. Keep it safe Nope never mind, it’s way too late Life’s broken apart, holding on for your part. Seems like I’m fine but did you seem to think twice. Twice is enough, no it is not. Now I’m just left in this knot-tied mess Take a guess I shouldn’t have said. honestly I’m like just trying so yea

Some things I would have mentioned: NEVER criticize while co-writing, it completely destroys vibe and flow of the session - instead try to find a better idea; if you're writing for radio, always keep the 2+2 rule in mind. Although great video, gave me some alternative ways of thinking - Keep it up!

Dear Emma, Lately I've been caught up in a bit of a dilemma Where to be precise I'm looking for advice For the future In finding a good chill Producer Also a Label since that would be nice Cause, well, I'm still unable... To get anywhere there either Hold up lemme take a breather Don't think I need an Artist I may not be the smartest Though I am being honest I'm only getting started This is rather lighthearted But what about the Publisher? Damn it's like my mind is getting hammered by The Punisher You have a great many admirable features Not to be a preacher But from your video you make an excellent teacher You see I just came Into this lyrical game Yet it seems I can ready proclaim That it's bound to be one profound steady climb Around we go searching for a sign Bottom line Thanks for your time Hit me back sometime P.S. +Paul Smith Hey Paul! The majority of these tips can work for all genres depending on how you apply them! I think as a writer it's important to be conscious of how your audience are going to receive your music - not for the sake of you changing it to suit them, but so you yourself are just aware of what they're taking from it. The 3-3:30 rule only applies for popular genres. :)
@charizardmaster13

i did still say it was really good advice im just saying if someone write progressive metal wont that change your sample group sessions? from my experience most people will critque a song if they dont understand it especially if its not a conventional pop song

7 жыл бұрын
There's a couple of tips in there that apply to writing within the pop genre but the rest are applicable to all genres, including progressive! :) I keep my tips general so songwriters of all genres can get something out of it. The aim is to motivate :) While this video is aimed at beginners I'd be happy to do a video in the future focused more heavily on composition and techniques.
