The way you present the video, is very good. I love the way you use your dog to illustrate some uses of the trash compacter bag.

Years ago when I was a kid me and a friend went up on cement hill, (air base and bunkers)it was an unlisted abandoned base that was past several fenced areas so we thought it would be cool, it was freezing that night and our water was frozen, we were I'll prepared and so we didn't want to move to hike 2 hours to get back home, I had a few trash bags, I ended up filling them with brush as soft as I could find and put it under us for a mat because the ground was ice cold, we still froze but it made a big difference. My friend thought I was a genius.

Trash compactor bags are also a much thicker mil than a standard trash/bin bag and can be utilized for things like lining the inside of a go bag in wet weather or for kids bags for emergency ponchos and such. If you have a need for a smaller, but similar type of bag these work really well.

Knee jerk response to the leaky pack situation. Refer to the poncho. Will cover the pack as well

I agree Ning3n, but that certainly wasn't the topic of this video. However, thanks for sharing your knowledge, it is appreciated. -Hg

These work as flotation, a tent, a sleeping bag, water collection ( solar still also ). The new not used , GI waterproof bags are good and also you can inflate a trash bag inside of them. Don't forget carry tape and tie down with it.

Great. For something quite light and fairly cheap (especially in bulk amount), its quite versatile. I had to use one before in a heavy rain thunderstorm. Sure helped as the air temperature just went down so fast. Pack liner not only keeps thing drier , but your not carrying that excess water weight too with you. It's also possible to braid it too like plarn like a zipper chain sinnet( not ideal of course) "doggy shelter " :D TFS. ill subb and support " the outside the box thinker" C.R.

Excellent video, I use a con trash bag, when camping, it's the best, I picked up a holder for them on Amazon called bagez, made using con bags when outdoors very convenient, hope it helps

So what gauge of contractors trash bags do you recommend, I was looking into it and they have 4-mil and 3-mil. 3-mil seems to be the more common one but I'd like to be sure as I already lost some gear to bad urban floods. Thanks.

Hello randytan01, I would say the thicker the better. But as long as it is a good quality contractor bag, you should be fine with either choice. You may also want to look into the WP bags that we used in the USMC. Here is my review on it: coachhelder.com/review-g-waterproof-bag-survival-camping-trekking/ I hope that helps! Have a great day. -Hg
