Never Say Never Again was an unofficial remake of Thunderball. Writer/Producer Kevin McClory retained the rights to Thunderball script after a lengthy legal battle. This is how two James Bond films came out at the in the same year. The interesting thing is the NAME of the film. After Sean Connery finished shooting Diamonds are Forever, he said to his wife, Micheline Roquebrune, "That's it, I'll never play James Bond again!". When he agreed to play 007, 12 years later, Micheline said "Never say never again..!" Connery told the story to producers and they decided to name that film Never say Never again, a nod to Connery's return.

@@bradfrank007 Yep, but the reason some people look at it that way is because it didn't come through the Brocolli production company. McClory and Connery were going to remake "Thunderball" again with a script they wrote called, "Warhead 2000". It would have been the third time the Thunderball story would have been told. I always enjoyed Never say never again and thought it was one of the better Bond films, even though its just a remake of Thunderball. In it, Connery is tough, but also relaxed and at ease and looks like he's enjoying himself.

His Bond films predated me significantly, so I mainly know him from his later work like Medicine Man and The Rock. I love Daryl Hammond's impersonation of him on SNL Jeopardy. "That's not what your mother said, Trebek. HAHAHAHAHA!"

I was bullied by my classmates in school too and I never dared to dream that I was as cool as James Bond because I just thought that it was too high of a bar to reach but oh how grand it would have been to even be able to say that I was only an iota of the man Sean Connery or Roger Moore were back when they were still alive. Minty you are the best at what you do; please don't change at all!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖

Roger Moore was not the only Bond to desire a return as a villain. Sean Connery at one time had said that was the only way he would return to the Bond films. RIP Sean Connery. You are Loved and missed Bond forever.

Sean Connery should have had more roles as villain. To my knowledge his only role as a villain is in The Avengers. Technically he is a villain in Entrapment since he is a thief, but he is not portrayed as a villain.

To bad he didnt do the "Skyfall" scene, would have been perfect closure in the series. Probably giving him even more screen time than the other actor got, and probably more "firepower" :) But luckly i feel the Mason role in The Rock, was some sort of James Bond closure. Also even though I love Ian Mckcellans Gandalf, I would love to see Sean do it he would have killed it! RIP

The Wind and the Lion, and The Man who would be King, both from 1975 and as a bonus The Man who would be King co starred his best friend Michael Caine, the "best friend" chemistry which is part of the story comes across perfect with those two playing the parts.

Sorry to hear about the bullying, to think of it, spies were considered the superheros of the day for the kids of 80s ( maybe the 70s kids as well ). At school, I did not want to be like Bond but rather have a friend who was like Bond who would take care of me when necessary ( fortunately no bullying problems, but for getting out of exams and that kind of stuff).

I know this, we've lost one of the last real men that was left, all of us who were little boys in the 70's growing up watching the Bond movies have lost just about the last of our heroes 😔😔😔, sad days indeed. And bad news Minty, Sean Connery was not the original James Bond, that title actually goes to an American actor named Barry Nelson who played James Bond in a 1954 television adaptation of Casino Royale.

I know the feeling, as a little boy in the 70's this news hit pretty hard, it's like I've been telling people for us who were boys in the 70's it's like the last of our heroes are gone now😔😔😔. Now we have to suffer through this world where any display of being a man is immediately demonized and we're told we're wrong for being like that. Well fuck em, I'll never stop being like that.

RIP Sean Connery and well done Minty - another good video tribute to his time as James Bond. Never Say Never Again the 1983 film has a family connection in that the health clinic that M sends Bond to near the start of the film was filmed at the beautiful offices and exterior building of British Alcan. Where my Dad worked for many years. This is in Chalfont Park, Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire, Southern England. I also did a work experience there as well several years later. I also had another James Bond encounter as Black Park Country Park on the Iver/Wexham border also in Buckinghamshire, was right next to Pinewood Studios where most of the Bond films were filmed. In 2001 I found a gap in the hedge on the border of the country park and watched as Pierce Brosnan as Bond plus several actors playing baddies were learning how to control and operate their hovercrafts under a instructor, for the forthcoming film Die Another Day. The set around them had been designed to be "North Korea" and is where Pierce's Bond is tortured during the horrific Madonna song opening titles. Then manages to escape. The film-makers also shot part of the woodland chase scene in the country park itself. Was fascinating to watch

It was incredible to watch. Pierce was a quick learner for the difficult to master hovercraft the instructor was pleased with his progress.
